Hi All,

So I thought this would be interesting. With recent discussion about missing Castaway Cay, and our very own cruise changing completely due to a hurricane, I wanted to try to log when a cruise misses/changes a port.

If you were on a DCL cruise since 2009 that did not go to a scheduled port, please post the following:
  • dates of cruise (ex: 10/9-16/2011
  • ship
  • overall cruise location (Western Caribbean, MR, Alaska, etc...)
  • port missed
  • length of cruise (3, 4, 7...)
  • reason (if known)

I will keep an compiled list from all replies. This could serve as a reference tool for others. Of course, past record does not guarantee anything about future when dealing with weather, but it could be interesting to see the data.

Also, if you were on a cruise that went to every planned port, please post as well.

NOTE: I am not considering Mazatlan a "missed port" if during a cruise that occurred since Disney officially created the temporary alternate itinerary.

Thanks in advance for contributing your information,
Dreams

10/9-16/2011 Wonder Puerta Vallarta 7 Hurricane

10/16 - 22/11 Magic Grand Cayman 7 Wind/rough seas

11/3 thru 11/6/2011 The Disney Dream missed Castaway Cay on a 3 night Cruise because of :rotfl: strong broadside winds and current push the Dream past the dock.

There used to be a spreadsheet someone made of all the cruises for many years that had missed CC. Wonder if anyone has the thread bookmarked.

I searched for one. I couldn't find one. I thought this would be helpful since there has been a lot of discussion about it lately. If I'm wrong, or there's another somewhere, sorry. Just trying to help..........

2/20/2010 - & night Western Caribbean, Grand Cayman
High wind and heavy seas.

That's not bad out of 10 cruises!

I was just thinking out loud, maybe jog someone's memory if they had it bookmarked. I did on my old laptop but not this one. I searched back to 2003 and didn't find it. The person who compiled the information hasn't been on the boards for a long time and the last time I had looked at the spreadsheet link, it was no longer accessibly, but I thought that the posts on that thread would give a lot of info to use. What I did notice in the search is how many threads are on the board about missing CC, yet the majority of people who post about their cruise missing it and being upset about it claim to have no idea that it happens.

The old thread was useful because it gave specifics. :thumbsup2

I'll post, even though it's not as important since we don't even know if DCL is going back to the Med or not!

I do remember the spread sheet. It was actually amazing how rarely Castaway Cay was missed.

For us, 10 DCL cruises 2009-2011 with no missed or altered ports. Don't ask about prior years!!!

Feb 11-14, 2010
Disney Wonder
Caribbean-Bahama
Missed Castaway Cay
3 day cruise
Bad Weather-high winds

10/29/11-11/5/11 Magic changed from a Western to an Eastern due to hurricane Rinna.

Missed Ports- Key West, Grand Cayman and Cozumel.

We went to St Marting and Tortola instead.

Disney Wonder 15 night Panana Canal Westbound 1/6/11-1/21/11. Missed Castaway due to weather. Instead we overnighted in Aruba.

November 4 - 7, 2010 Disney Wonder, missed Castaway Cay. The timing of your thread is perfect for me - we are looking at doing a trip in March or April 2013 to get to Castaway Cay to make up for not getting there on our first cruise. That was the part of the trip the kids were looking forward to the most. Unfortunately the high winds from Hurricane Tomas ruined that :-(

Hopefully March or April has a good track record!
