Its been a few years since we went to Hoop de Doo, before Minnie Vans were available. At that time the taxi dropped us off at the entrance to the Fort then we had to take an internal shuttle to the show. Are the Minnie Vans allowed to take you directly to the show?

Just an FYI for anyone interested, other Lyfts and rideshares/taxis are NOT allowed to drive in as far as the Minnie Vans are allowed.

Why? Where does Minnie Van drop you off?

it drops you off near the bus stop which is near but still a short walk to the show. We got a Minnie van there and were 100% drenched in a storm when it arrived. The heated seats had us dry, at least our back sides, by the time we got to Pop. The driver was so gracious and sweet to us because we felt terrible getting in so dripping wet. She had a long rain coat on and held open the door. I will never forget it. Worth every penny that trip

Yeah those downpours can come at the worse times! Wonderful you had such a great driver. Sometimes spending the extra $$ is well worth it!

but if raining you will still get wet by time you get there even with Minnie Van just aheads up
We are not worried about weather so much, as time. My husband is running the Dopey that weekend and we are going to the 8:30 show the evening after he finishes the marathon. We did that a few years ago and he rested afterwards then we took a taxi to the show. It was nice for him to get out and celebrate, and didn't involve a lot of walking on his tired legs! There were no mini vans at that time and we had to take a taxi to the main area then a shuttle. This year my parents and 17 year old daughter are joining us, so we will probably all be a MK and he will take a mini van and just meet us at the show. I wanted to know if the mini vans were allowed to go all the way to the show because that definitely makes it easier for him that evening.

Thanks everyone for letting me know that I was correct in believing they could straight back to the show. This will definitely make the evening easier and more enjoyable for him!

Sounds like a great post race meal!

Probably obvious advice and already stated above, but I’d recommend building in extra time for the Minnie Van to connect in the app/arrive to pick you up, especially around dinner time. I’ve had trips where availability was great and it seemed I could do no wrong, and ones (like this past weekend) where I had a much tougher time connecting to one several times without a pretty decent wait.

Thanks for the tip, I will let him know to give himself a little extra time!

Sadly I have to agree with this - our last trip we looked for a Minnie van 3x but it was so much longer than a Lyft we gave up twice, the other time we waited and waited while we watched other guests who arrived after us get their lyft/uber so much faster! My kids really wanted one Minnie Van ride and they don't ask for much....

So if time isn't the issue but walking is maybe he should have a fallback? Bus to MK, boat to WL would be free, but there is some walking to transfer from the bus drop off to the launch. Lyft/Uber to FW and the bus would not be as quick but cheaper and not that much more walking.

Oh I'm sure if he pressed for time he will just take the regular Lyft/taxi and use the internal shuttle system. It will just be nice if he could take the Minnie Van straight there since his legs will be pretty shot after running 4 days straight. I will definitely let him know that sometimes it take a bit longer for Minnie Vans and he can judge for himself if he has time to wait or needs to do a transfer to the internal shuttle. :)

Where do the regular Ubers and Lyfts drop off at Hoop de Doo? Is it difficult getting an Uber/Lyft to take us back to our hotel?

you will have to use the internal bus as they meet you at other end of campground as they are not allowed in bus area as Minnie Vans are. any of the 3 colored buses will get you there either way but will sop at the loops on the way as needed. there is no car parking area at Hoop Dee Doo even for handicapped
