Minnie Marathon 2007 -- WISH Roster (see post 1 for WISH Meets Info!)

Hey Cam

Thanks for the tip about late check-out. I totally forgot that option. I was having images of having to shower in the pool locker rooms. I'll be calling my resort!

I was laughing about the pictures-- the picture of the really bundled up person is actually DD (who is really big for her age, and in a really small picture). I added one of me at the Swamp Run 10k. The one of me was taken on my camera phone by a little kid, so I'm missing part of my head. That's probably for the best since I'm sure my hair was looking wild anyway. LOL

Check it out-- it's almost April so we can start saying the Minnie marathon is NEXT MONTH!

oops! Sorry I totally missed that! Well, great! You are even smaller than I thought! :)

I'm stuck at work, likely for an all nighter. During lulls in activities here, I am relying on my DIS friends to keep me awake and entertained, especially since I have some kind of stomach thing AND a migraine. ICK! I may be the first one to see April roll around if no one else is up at midnight. The thought of knowing the Minnie is only 5 weeks away at that point will be very exciting. :cool1:

Jen in GA - Just wanted to let you know that both Angie and I are staying at POR. I am catching a ride with her in the morning to the race so that my mom can keep the rental car to meet me at the finish line and cheer me on. I know Angie has mentioned that if anyone needs a ride that she has room, so if you ask her, you may have another option besides a cab that early in the morning!

We did late check out last trip to the POP, I think it was until 12 pm. I just called that morning and they said fine.

Stacey -- I'm glad to know that actually exists. I've never had to ask for it, so I was unsure.

Well, no Minnie training this weekend. I didnt' get home from work until 3 am and then was up again at 6 and will be here until early afternoon, at least. I was going to dress in my running clothes and hit the gym on the way home, but decided I just shouldn't wear myself out. By dressing myself in normal clothes I'm forcing a stop at home and hopefully, a nap. I think the gym is open until 8, so I may get there yet. I downloaded a new movie to my ipod video, so I may just do an easy walk on the TM and watch that, rather than trying to run or do intervals at all.

Stacey- thanks for the tip. I'll call them for sure. I want to try to stay at the finish as long as I can to celebrate!

Leana- I'll consult with DH (or make up my mind and then let him think my idea was his). How fun to drive with Angie. I've read her race reports, and I think driving with Angie is the only way I could keep up with her!;)

Cam- sorry about your schedule. Don't overdo it! The really horrible stuff will be over after Monday and you can get back to regular crazy life, right? How on earth can you walk and watch a video? I'd totally fall down. I used to walk home from elementary school reading a book. I finally decided that was too dorky when I walked straight into a stop sign. Pathetic, I know. Still, I was considering replacing my way past it's prime Mini with a Nano or one of the video iPods. I'd decided on the nano, but now you've got me intrigued...

:lmao: I should have clarified -- that is on the treadmill. I can't see the tv's that are all around the gym (I have vision problems, hence the infamous "fall and slide" during this year's full marathon. :sad2: ), so DH bought me an ipod video for Christmas. For my long treadmill walks, I watch a video. I have only movies with great music on there and I jog every time there is good music. It is a wonderful motivator! :yay:

Thanks Cam for adding me. Here is my info: I am doing both the 5k and the 15k, staying at BWV with DH, DD6 and DD1. We fly in on thurs and out monday - although I have only bought airfare for the way down. The flights home on monday are so high, so I may be stuck in florida ;)

Wow, my legs are sore today! I think I might have overdone it by doing runs two days in a row.

Cam, did you do a marathon report for this past year? I would love to read it if you did.

That is such a compliment but as I posted on the weekly thread I have been so busy with school that I have gotten NO training in lately and I am so frustrated. I love running and I HATE not having time for it.

But I would LOVE to give you a ride to the start!! I have nooo problem, the more the merrier, as I stated before this is my first race "by myself" (did I mention I am a big baby) so I would love to have all these great supportive people with me.

I start back on MINNIE training tommorrow so I will let you know how it goes!!

angie

Good morning team!!!!!!

Well I did it my first 10K. I have pictures I will post when I get home tonight. I probably shouldn't have done it since I am fighting a horrible cold, and I injured my back Sunday before the run but I did it anyways. 10K in 1:26:15...just under Minnie pace so considering my cold and injured back I am feeling great about the Minnie. DH finished in 1:06. However, I have messed up my back even worst so I hope to rest it the next few days as I continue to recover from my cold and get seriously moving on the Minnie training.

I haven't had a chance to get back and read the posts but hope you are all well and having some great training days.

Kim

Way to go, hockeychic! I'm impressed you made it while fighting injury and a horrible cold. I had a cold that lasted forever and I'm sure I made it worse by not resting (hint, hint).

Angie- sure, I'd love a ride! Not only would it be fun to be in the car together, but when we get there, we can find our way to the start as a group instead of wandering alone!

I know what you mean about not training enough. It's my daughter's spring break so I have a 1 year old and 7 year old at the office. (The baby comes to the office every day with me because we are self-employed- it's nice and horrible at the same time). The gym I belong to has a nasty nursery and the other gym I've considered joining doesn't have a nursery! I have to rely on Mother's Day Out at the church (not open this week) or whiny DH to try to do LRs. I'm just going to accept the fact that any running I can do right now is adding up and that the Minnie is going to be about the experience. Then when the kids are both in school in August, I can go running after I drop them off and start to focus on Goofy training. I'm also hoping that after DH sees the Minnie at the finish he'll get that this is important to me and start being a bit more helpful about babysitting.

You're still super speedy to me!

I think now I am going to pull up the course map and try to decide what I want on my playlist based on where I think I will be at any given time. How OCD is that?! And I probably won't even listen much because I'll be so excited. LOL You can tell how much work I get done at the office!

Jen in GA

OMG you guys, I am so excited!!!!

I just ordered my ANNUAL PASS! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Kim, congratulations on completing your first 10K! I can't wait to see pictures. Best of luck getting over your cold  and PD for your back. :wizard:

Jen in GA, I don't think that is OCD, I think that is a great idea for your music. Good luck to you, I hope your DH becomes a bit more helpful with the babysitting.

In 4 weeks and 2 days I'll be on a plane down to Orlando. Seriously you guys...I am so excited..!!

Less than 5 weeks!!!!!:cool1:

I have a friend that is coming with me. We're looking forward to a girls weekend away. She has been so supportive during training. I really enjoy doing our long walks together because the time goes by so fast.:chat: She is able to run but has decided to walk the Minnie at my pace. I told her about all you guys and said that we'd each be able to find someone to walk/run with at our own paces - I don't think I convinced her. I feel bad, like I'm holding her back. Oh well, either way it'll be a fun race.

We did 7 miles this weekend with an average pace of 13:45. I was really happy with that since it was only walking. After the Minnie I'm going to try and add in some walk/run intervals to better my pace. I don't want to change things up now and risk injury. Last year I developed painful shin splints when I tried to add running in the mix.

Is there anyone else that is planning to WALK the Minnie?

I have to thank Howard and Cam for inspiring me to do the Minnie. At the POP meet on Marathon weekend Howard showed me Cam's photo album from the 2006 Minnie. He told me how much fun Cam had and that I should plan on doing it too.

We plan on meeting up with everyone on Sat at DTD and on Sun at Jellyrolls. Is the Sat meet at 4:00? What time is everyone planning on going to Jellyrolls on Sunday? I did want to mention that Jellyrolls did not accept room charges for admission or beverages. You need to bring cash or credit card. Normally that's not a big deal for us but when we're at Disney we always just charge back to the room. We were lucky to have cash on us the night we went to Jellyrolls. I think the cover charge was $10.00 in Jan.

I hope everyone has a good training week.

I thought I'd better stick my head in here, since I seem to spend all my time over at the Weekly WISH thread. :upsidedow

Kathy - Depending on how it goes with my orthopedic surgeon this afternoon, I could be walking the entire Minnie. Even if I "run", I'm still pretty darn slow. I'm sure a lot of walkers will pass me even if I am running! ;)

Kathy

I'm planning on walking the 5K and the 15K. I walk about a 13:30-14:00 pace. We'll see what the heat & humidity do to that! But, I'm training at altitude, so that's a slight advantage.

If that's OCD, then count me into the looney bin! :rotfl:
I'll be making my Minnie Mix soon too :thumbsup2

Less than 5 weeks!!!!!:cool1:

Kathy

My sister and I are walkers only - 13 knee operations between us do not allow us to even think of running. The odd thing is that in many races, especially anything longer than 5K, we end up passing alot of "runners" who poop out.

My fav was a 10 miler last summer when at the 1 mile mark the only one behind me was the police car (with lights flashing :rolleyes1 ). As the race continued I began catching up to and passing people. The final results had me finishing AHEAD of about 30 people :cool1:

We also walked all of last years' Minnie and had a blast!!!

Remember, its not just speed, you want to finish strong and happy!!!

I don't know if I missed this before on Disney's Minnie page but here it is. Free entry to PI and other goodies. I obviously won't be doing some of these:rotfl2:
