Minnie Marathon 2007 -- WISH Roster (see post 1 for WISH Meets Info!)

Umm, a cruise? On Sunday???
Isn't that the all-important Jellyrolls evening??

Don't worry, Kristi -- we'll be at Jellyrolls. Not sure what time WISHes is that night, but I'd bet we'll be done by 10 or a little after. That is when the party will really start!

Well, I haven't been able to do any running, my kids are driving me crazy over Spring Break, AND I lost my keys (because DH's family was in town and I lost control, or maybe because the baby hid them-no one is claiming responsibility, least of all me).

So, I was pretty cranky this morning, but then I went to get a new house key and here is what I found:

This may be old news to those who don't live in the boonies, but I decided it was a sign!! You go, Minnie! No way my day isn't getting better now!

Jen -- I NEED that key!!!! I am going to have to go looking for it around here. :)

. . .
Jen--I love that key, it is so cute! If I were you I would look in the couch for my keys--not that I have ever lost any keys, but if I had they might be in the couch:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

I have also heard that keys like to hide in the fridge! Not that I've ever experienced that, but that is what I've heard from my friends with little kids and scattered brains! :lmao:

I finally got in a LW last night -- 7 miles at 13:36 pace. I'd really like to have more of a cushion before getting to Minnie weekend since the heat may really take it out of me. I know I can count on the enthusiasm of my teammates that day, though, to propel me to speeds I've never experienced before by their sheer enthusiasm! :cool1:

I meant to run more, but was distracted watching a movie on my video ipod. "Camp" -- there is one really cool song on there that I HAVE to get downloaded to my running mix. Unfortunately, it is not on itunes. I have ordered the CD since I think DS might like some of the music on it, too, but not sure when it will arrive.

I am going away tomorrow for the weekend to visit my Aunt. I am coming up on the 2 year anniversaries of my parents' deaths and really feel like I need to get away and spend some time with my favorite relative. My aunt walks faster than I can run and she does at least 3 miles every single day and sometimes 2 times a day. So, I am hoping to get in some good walks this weekend and some of them will even be along the beaches of New England. :cloud9: I have tried to talk my aunt into doing the Minnie but she really enjoys just walking for pleasure and doesnt want the pressure of going a certain distance at a certain pace. So, she says she lives vicariously through me. I'll take my Minnie, my castle and my Mickey medals to show her and hope to talk her into the 2008 Minnie. :woohoo:

Hey everyone...I can't believe how close it is...just 4 weeks, and I will be heading through the gates of WDW....WOOOHOOO I can't wait...

On a more serious note, I swear I need some major pixie dust...and prayers...everyone knows about my back, and I went to see the Ortho yesterday, and he put me on steroids, whcih I am not happy about...I have already gained about 20lbs since the injury because I cannot go to the gym and have a hard time doing..well just about everything, so I am not looking forward to the weight gain with the steroids...I told DH that I am going to stock up on chicken and broccoli, and thats all we are going to eat this month:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: ...anyway, I am going to do P.T 3 days a week for the next 2 weeks, and see where that gets me, and if that does not help any then they are going to try an epidural(cortizone shot) and see how that helps.

On top of that, my daughters cell phone got stolen on Friday when she went to a sleepover birthday party...so I called the cops(because we know who took it) and they went to her house and of course she didn't answer the door or the phone, and then I found out on Monday that she just up and moved??? So know I have to get DD a new phone...UGH

AND...yeah there's more...yesterday my DSIL's father passed away and the funeral is next week so there is a lot to be done...HHHMMMM wonder if I am going to be able to do the minnie with like NO training:eek: :scared1:

Michelle - serious loads of PD your way. Best of luck as you try to figure out what to do for your back. We'll all be with you at the Minnie to help you through!:grouphug:

I don't know if I just noticed this, but on both the 5K and 15K event info website they have now posted final race instructions. Worth checking it out. For those of you with questions about sweeps and medals on the 15K:

Timing: The 15K is a timed event with a 15 minute per mile pace. There will be pick up points along the course to transport you to the finish line if you are unable to maintain the 15 minute per mile pace. (If you are picked up and transported to the finish line, you will not receive a finisher’s medal.)

Yup, that explains my tag..... I was PETRIFIED of being swept for the Half. I had nightmares about a big cane coming out of the crowd and dragging me right off the stage, I mean race course.

Michelle lots and lots of PD for you:wizard: :wizard: I am suffering through a sore back right now and I am probably not in 1/2 the pain you are and it is terrible so I can't imagine what you are dealing with right now.

Yikes, I don't want to be swept!!!!!!!I really want a medal....I know that is very materialistic but I really really want one....:scared1:

Cam that is such a awesome pace, keep up the great work.

Is the Earl thing still on or did I miss taht info somewhere????

Kim--It's not materialistc at all to want your medal! I"m a "bling girl" myself!! You definitely will deserve to get one!!

Michelle--load of prayers and PD for you and your family.

Cam--WTG on the LW! Have fun this weekend--I"ll be on the beach as well--just a little further south! Oh, meant to ask, when are ya'll having breakfast on Monday morning. We have some time to kill before heading back over to Tampa, so maybe we'll join ya'll!:thumbsup2

Well, last night was 4 miles in 35:40 and this morning I did an easy 2 miles and then some strenght training. Hoping to get my LR in tomorrow cuz' "we're leaving on a jet plane" Sat. morning for the sunshine state.:cool1: I"ll make sure to let Mickey and Minnie know that ya'll will be coming for a visit in 4 weeks!:goodvibes Good luck to all those with LR/LWs this weekend!

Hey everyone- still on the quest for my keys, but now that I've discovered Disney keys (at Lowes- our branch had Mickey, Minnie, and Pooh), I'm thinking about just re-doing everything. I think they have more to choose from at the "real" key stores. It's tedious, but it beats trying to wander around my whole house looking at everything from the height of a 1 year old!

Michelle- I'm so sorry about your back. I get a cold and I'm a whiny baby, so I can't imagine dealing with real aches. I hope you get better soon.

Kim- it's not materialistic to want the Minnie bling! It's not like we're going to wear it all day and wear it to work the next week, and then put it in a jewelry bag and drag it around with us... oh wait, that's exactly what I was planning!

I was just talking to DH about how we are going to be in Disney in about a month. Bottom line, I told him it was going to be a short weekend because of DD being in school, and he said we should move our trip to a weekend where DD has a day off!! HELLO-- exactly why are we going!? The boy really doesn't listen.

Now I'm thinking I can schedule the October night run and just casually mention it in a couple of months. When he asks, I'll tell him I told him all about it and he was totally cool with it. If I can talk about Minnie non-stop and he misses the whole concept of actually being there the right weekend, then I might be able to pull it off!:rolleyes1

Michelle -- thinking of you and sending pixiedust: and :goodvibes: sweetie!

Kim -- we definitely all want the bling. Otherwise, why bother training, right? WE all want to be certain we meet the requirements (or pretty darn close) so that we come home with the bling. Seriously, though, the thought of NOT coming home with the Mickey medal that I had been coveting for a year is one of the few factors that kept me going after my fall during the full marathon. I HAD to have the Mickey. Now, I HAVE to have the newly re-designed Minnie!

Oh and the WISH meet is at 4:30 on Saturday at Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney!

Just an FYI...even though they say that, last year my DSIL didn't finish, but they dropped her off just before the finish and let her finish the race AND she got a medal...

Last year was pretty disorganized and it was the inaugural race. There were a lot of things done during last year's race that I do not expect will happen this year:
1. self-corraling -- IIRC this year's application asked estimated finish time and I do expect we will be in corrals. I would think this year's event will be bigger than last year.

2. short-cutting people through EPCOT on the short side of World Showcase. I would think they won't do that this year and will let everyone do the full course that hasn't been swept.

3. Finisher's medals for those who cross the finish line. I just don't think that they are going to give medals to people who get swept. They didn't for the half or full (though those of us who finished just beyond the official times DID get medals) and I get the impression they are trying to formalize this race a bit, that is be a little more structured.

All that being said -- who knows what will happen? Just keep up the awesome training and in just 4 1/2 weeks we will all fly through that course on adrenaline rush and WISH team power!

Okay -- just a reminder -- WISH team meets over Minnie weekend:

Saturday -- 4:30 pm at Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney

Sunday night -- Jellyrolls on the Boardwalk. Not sure that any particular time has been set.

According to the race info we are self-corraling:
Start line placement: There will be pink, green, and purple flags at the start line. Please line up at the start line between the flags according to your average per mile pace:
Pink: 5-9 minute miles
Green: 9-12 minute miles
Purple: 12-15 minute miles

Kim - Of course we want the bling! I wouldn't be doing the Goofy Challenge if it wasn't for three medals, including the extra special, top secret 15th anniversary Mickey medal. And I wouldn't be nearly as excited about the Nike Women's Half if it wasn't for the Tiffany's necklace you get for finishing, handed to you by a very handsome fire fighter in a tux! (Hmmm, which am I more excited about, the necklace or the :firefight firefighter...???) :rolleyes2 Yup, I'm single...

Cool! I should be in teh lime green coarral!

Oooohhhhh......where is this Nike half and is it too late?

Cam, I do not remember entering an estimated finish time on my application! Yikes! I don't want to be placed at the very end! I think I'd better call and ask.....

Erica - It is the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco on October 21. It sounds like a great race - they have a chocolate mile, a pedicare station en route for new socks, manicures and pedicures at the expo, and of course the Tiffany's necklace. Unfortunately though, it is too late. The entire race sold out in 10.5 hours this year. Somehow I managed to sneak my way in. Keep it in mind for next year though, and I'll let you know how the race goes!

Oh, I am totally IN next year.

Michelle - sending you lots of :wizard: :wizard: I hope things get better for you soon!:grouphug:

Cam - have a great trip! Where about in NE will you be?

Jen - some guys just don't get it. Thankfully my DH is trying to be supportive. But I know he thinks I am crazy. Good luck with your plan for the night time october race. I hope it works!

My training is going well. I did 3 miles today and my LR on saturday will be 5 miles. I still feel really nervous about finishing this 15k. Hopefully once I am doing 6 - 7 miles I will feel more confident about it. I just really want to finish and I am running it alone! I hope to connect with some of you beforehand so I do not feel alone:hug:

What happens if it is raining? Do we run anyway? That would kind of stink!

I got my new double jogging stroller today - can't wait to try it out with the kiddos this weekend. Happy training:cheer2:

Becky

I just went and read the final instructions and it answers my rain question. The race will be held rain or shine ;)
