Minne Marathon Team List

Packing?? I'll start alittle bit this weekend. Since I make alot of little trips to WDW, I already have separate stuff just for packing. Like toiletries, hair stuff and little other things. Then as the week goes on I'll add. I will be done Thursday evening. Leaving early Friday morning for the 3 1/2 hour drive up from Pembroke Pines (Ft. Lauderdale area.) Won't need much, shorts, shorts and shorts, couple of tops, some shoes or crocs, undergear and what I'm wearing to the 15K - Lots of lime green!! I am trying to find limegreen nailpolish for my fingernails. I can't do my toes as I am still treating one of two that I ruined previously.

10days left til the 15K!!!

Everyone have their suitcase out? Packing list made??

Packing list! I haven't even packed for my half this weekend. I leave for OKCity on Friday. I'll start my packing list Thursday night. :rolleyes1

I am so NOT prepared this time around. I just hope I don't get swept as I have not done a long run in a month. :scared1:

I've been packing small things here and there - mostly toiletry stuff.

Carol, I'm not even done shopping! And if shopping counts as still packing, I've been known to "pack" as I continue through Orlando airport! :rotfl: ("Hey! I forgot to pack that!").

I usually leave packing to the last minute, but I'm really afraid of forgetting my racing stuff, so I'll probably START packing this weekend.

I do that too! I've been known to purposely leave things out like an evening purse or my sandals so I can go shopping :)

Packing? Folks are packing?

I leave Friday morning. I will pack Thursday at 9 LOL!

I'm glad I am not the only one who puts it off until the very last minute.

I still need to get summer clothing out and see if anything fits. Other wise I will have to make a trip to Kohl's for their "Biggest Sale of the Season."

Susie(escape)--- I didn't realize that you were going to be at the Minnie.

Since I am just starting to experience warmer weather here in PA, I hope that the heat and humidity don't do me in on race day. I have to remember to stop and buy some sports beans for the trip.

I've started packing -- but i keep pulling stuff in and out of my bag - we've decided to just bring carry-on's so, i gotta make it all fit, and i am usally an overpacker! LOL
good thing shorts n' tank tops don't take up much!

Howard - :woohoo: :dance3: :yay: :cool1: :thumbsup2  Bet you'd be more excited if you were allowed to see Cam for more than a couple hours! :rolleyes1

Carol - OK, so why did you come home just to go back? ;)

OK, I spend months looking forward to being able to pack fo rmy WDW trips. WHy is it that when it comes time that I can, I will do everythign to put it off??

Think I will pack Friday morning before leaving for airport at 9:30. I packing a carry on-Leaving Sunday so I won't need much..most important running shoes and running outfit and photo ID.

I feel good that I got my final LR done yesterday..10 miles 90 minutes. I felt a cold coming on Tuesday evening, sore throat, ears hurt, so I wanted that run in before it got bad. Today very stuffy nose. I can't believe I talked my DH into this weekend and then faithfully trained for the past 10 weeks.

Everyone have a great day! :wizard:

Last night I pulled out shorts and tanks. Now just need to try them on and run thru the wash. Have started tossing couple things into suitcase but am going to carry on my walking gear. Have my packing list so in pretty good shape...I hope...Always the possibility of shopping this weekend.

Think I slightly pulled something in the back of my left thigh. Hip was bothering me Tuesday when I went out to walk and feels like that caused my gait to be off so strained something. Took a one mile casual walk last night, iced it and not as bad this morning but don't want to chance making it worse with only 11 days to go. So will do core and stretch but not walk until Sat. Hopefully that'll help.

Hope everyone is having a great day!!

Packing? I have a pile of clothes on the dining room table that I'm considering taking. :rolleyes1 My passes and camera are already in the car so they can't hide at the last minute. (OK, actually I sent my cheap-o camera with DD on a field trip to the Swamp Park today. I'm kind of hoping she drops it in the swamp so I have to get a new one...)

I'm getting crazy excited!

Guys, i really need some encouragement here!! I have been training on my TM - and doing my 3 miles in about 38 minutes - which i am happy with.

However, last night i attempted my first run outside (temp was about low 60's) and i did AWFUL! I only did 2 miles (and probably walked about 1/2 of that) I am just so bummed! Granted, yes, lots of the route is very hilly -- especially compared to my TM! LOL

I am going to try to go to the bike path tonight (where it is a flat surface) and run there - they have mile marks on the ground. I am hoping it was the large hills and very uneven road/sidewalk surface that i did last night as my cause of such a bad venture.. also, about 1 mile in a got a cramp in my side -- just enough to be very annonying.. Does that mean i ate too close before going out? I had chicken and rice about 45 min . prior.

Just feeling a lil' dicouraged and worried now! :(

Oh, I'be been packing for 2 weeks! :rotfl: I've got some clothes laid out on the bed in the spare bedroom along w/ my passes and name tags. I've only got 4 more shirts to make (iron-ons). I hope to have all the clothes, camera, passes...packed up by Sunday. My week next week will be crazy busy and I won't have any time at night to do any packing.

We are doing carry-ons too, but only on the way back. We'll let ME take them to the resort for us. We are there for a week so I hope I can fit everything!

I have my LR tomorrow. 8 miles! I will be much more excited once I get it out of the way. It's a little scary! I will doing my WR at a new place, new trails so hopefully that will keep it interesting for me and help the time to go by quicker.

Only 1 more week and everyone will be getting ready to drive or fly!

Happy dance! :dance3:

You'll be fine. Don't worry. It's all pretty flat at WDW. I told you guys in my journal not to do chicken and rice before a run! :goodvibes JK! Were you hydrated enough?

I was supposed to do 5 miles, but only got in 3.38 last night. I was just so tired and lathargic. My pace...16! I know part of mine was hydration. I had only had one glass of sweet tea all day!

Seriously...You WILL be fine. Don't worry.

Caitsmama I hope your run goes better tonight.:cheer2:

I just don't like eating before running. Yesterday before my 10 miles I had 1/2 a banana and 2 oatmeal raisin cookies and 4 oz. of V8 Fusion juice. I took an 8oz. bottle of propel water (had to carry it as I ran) and 1/2 way through did a Powergel vanilla flavor. I did get a little side ache. I just try to massage it, you know just sort of rub it and it helped. Hey, I'm new to this whole thing so I really don't know much just trying things to see how I do.

Caitsmama I felt the same way when I first ran outside. A couple of things--- roads are different than treadmills (yes, it sounds really dumb to say that) and that will impact how your legs feel. Plus, I don't know about you, but I don't have any inner sense of "pace". It's really easy to run when the treadmill goes at the same pace and you know exactly what it is, but don't ask me to duplicate "10 mpm" or "9:45 mpm" on the road--I don't think I could tell the difference!

Plus hills? Yikes-definitely not the treadmill!

And eating--I don't like a full stomach--even eating 2 hours ahead sometimes makes me feel uncomfortable.

Bottom line, there's lots of thing you did differently than normal. But here's the thing: Don't feel bad about the one run. It was just ONE RUN, and it takes time to learn how running feels--I am still learning a lot.

So go out tonight, start out slowly and see how it goes. I bet you have a better result.

That's part of what makes this WISH team so great, everyone encourages and inspires us with such positive vibes! I hope you have a great run tonight.:goodvibes
I know I've been getting the heebie-jeebies as the Minnie gets closer; reading through all the posts is so very helpful in calming my nerves and getting my mind back on track.:goodvibes

SO...all this talk of packing got me thinking and I wanted to remind everyone but especially everyone who hasn't traveled for a race before - Pack everything you need for the race in your carry on. DO NOT check your running shoes. DO NOT check your running clothes, hat, ipod, garmin, sport beans, hydration belt, sunblock. Well, you can check your sunblock if you have to. It's usually fine, but if your bag goes astray, you'll want to have those things with you. Trust me. :) Happy packing!

Stacy - a lot of it was probably the hills. Your muscles have to work differently on them, and it just takes some adjusting. Today was my first good sized run back after my weensie overuse injury and I decided to just walk up the worst of the hills. I can't believe how much energy that saved! :rotfl: Hang in there - it's a transition, especially if you're used to entertainment on the treadmill.
