Minne Marathon Team List

Thanks for the thoughts on what to run with...think I will go with nothing-no room key, cell phone, chap stick.

Call me weird, but I wear glasses, but don't like to run with them on(don't like to drive with them, that scares the family) -I see pretty good. Would I need to see anything important the morning of the race? I think my DH could bring them to the finish line. Anyone else wear glasses and what do you do?

I am thinking of registering the kiddos (5 and almost 3) in the kids races taking place on Saturday after the 5k.

Has anyone done these? Any thoughts...worthwhile or not? Any info would be appeciated.

TIA! Tricia

ALSO - just want to say that I am also going to try to attend the Jellyrolls meet Sunday nite, especially since I am conflicted for the Sat meet.

I wear glasses also and always use them during events. I don't think I could last 1/10 of a mile without them. They don't bother me in the least. Occasionally they will fog up, but it's no big deal. Of course, I'm a walker so that may make a difference. I don't know what it would be like to run with glasses.

BTW, what part of NC are you from?

jeanneg I do have fogging issues too. I live just north of Charlotte. Just moved here about a year and a half ago from VA. Older DS is in school at Wake in Winston, DD choose Elon and third DD will be at Campbell in the fall. Had to find a way to make college cheaper if that's possible.

Any suggestions on where to get a small fanny pack? Not too sure if I really need one, but I'd like to get one and do a practice run with it.

I hear your college blues. We had 4 kids in 5 years so college was a huge whammy to the budget. Luckily, 2 went to instate schools. My "baby" is going to graduate from UNC-CH in a few weeks and we will finally be done. NC resident tuition is really a great bargain, so I can totally understand why you made the move.

Joan, as for running with glasses, I don't wear glasses usually (I have natural mono-vision) but I do wear sunglasses when running in the sun. They are sports sunglasses, though, and I do have problems with fogging. It's better now that it's not freezing cold out, though. :) Part of the fun of a Disney race is the surroundings, so even if you could get by without seeing anything, seems like you might miss out on some of the excitement? :confused3 Gotta do what seems right to you, of course.

A small fanny-pack....I haven't tried this one, and I'm sure you could get something cheaper at Target or Wal-Mart, but I thought this was cute.

Another glasses wear and really occassional fogging up at the beginning of the race I have no other issues. I have transition lenses so as the sun comes up I then have my sunglasses on also. I do wear a visor to help keep the sweat out of my eyes.

I also wear a small fanny pack with a camera, room key, cell phone and a zillion tissues.

Getting closer.

I ordered a spibelt. SOmeone here (sorry can't remember who) posted that they got us a WISH discount. When you talk to them, give them WISHD as the discount code and you get $5 off each belt. They are really tiny, and fit great. It looks like they fit alot - stretchy. (thanks for the discount) I called them as it was easiest b/c they didn't have the code up on their website yet - number is 512-394-6089

i just got mine-i'm about ready to burst with excitement. I already downloaded them but getting an email makes it so much more real

Got my email too! :) I thought it was great to see the list of programs for the expo!

I'm a facebooker as well - if there isn't a Minnie Marathon group for the masses, maybe there should be!
