Mine Train Fast Pass? Or run straight there at open

More last minute trip than I'm used to so I'm scrambling a bit here. We'll be down over busy spring break week now. Have little ones that really want to hit the Mine Train. Just now looking at FP+ options and the only available ones for MT are crazy late at night after kids' bed time (like 11pm onward late).

It looks like there are extra magic hours at MK every day we're there (but we're offsite for the bulk of the trip; staying onsite last three days). Any idea what kind of wait we might be looking at if we headed straight to Mine Train at 8am on a day when extra magic hours is opening MK at 7am?

My guess is at least a 45-60 minute (maybe more) wait by 8am on a extra magic hours day. We were just there 2 weeks ago, we went to MK almost every day of our trip and 7Ds (as my kids have coined the ride) never had a shorter wait that we saw except later at night. I would say don't stop looking for those fastpasses or try to get there at rope drop/EMH on days you are staying onsite.

The wait was crazy long just a few minutes after RD on a non-AM EMH day in late July. We didn't have an FP+. We went just after Wishes. The posted SB wait was 50 minutes, but we really only waited 30 at most.

If you want an alternate strategy the line can be much shorter at night. We hit the ride at about 11:30 pm one night last summer. The posted wait was 80 minutes, with an actual wait of 20 minutes the first time then 10 for our 2nd trip.

We had just visited A&E with a less than 10 minutes wait at 11:20 (posted wait was 90), so in under 45 minutes we had A&E plus 7D twice. I'd call that a pretty efficient use of time.

I'm in the same boat as you. My kids will never make it to a 10pm or later FP. My strategy is to go to the 7 am EMH for the days we will be at MK. I'm hoping there will not be NEARLY as many crazy people there at 7 am. I am going to keep trying for FP though. I plan on splitting us into two groups (husband/son and me/daughter) to accomplish that FWIW

You still do get the video clip in the dark, but some people may be harder to make out on it than the same video during the day.

There's no running to 7DMT. They slowly walk you down Main Street. The line gets long very fast and stays backed up. Keep trying for FP! Personally, I won't ride it without a FP. We like it but not enough to wait in a crazy long line!

You're not going to "run" anywhere at RD. The CMs walk you down Main St with a rope. You are forced to go a certain way through the park to a certain point. So forget about that unless you can be at the front of that line going up Main St..

I would continue to check the FP+ options for every day. As people change their plans, FP's can open up.

Anytime, I have been there, fast pass or no fast pass, the earlier the better! Usually by 10, the crowd and lines grow, and then by lunch its even larger.
