~*~ Mindyjoy's May 19 2012 Disneyland Wedding TR ~*~ Trip Report Has Begun!

Aw, girl.. bummer-licious about the photog! =[ But at least you found out early on.

Those castles are awesome but I think I'd crush it by the time I was done! ha So more power to you if you attack it!

And.. as far as the nightmare goes. I'd have to say there's a pretty good chance that's a SIGN! ;D

Thanks everyone! DF gave the "eye roll of approval" (I might just have to shorten that to EROA since I'll be typing that a lot over the next year) to the castle card box and I officially have my first paper towel tube ready to go. Going to tackle the easy one, of course, but maybe try to tweak it to look a little more like the SB castle.

I just have a quick lil update before I go to bed. My friend from England was visiting this weekend and I am so exhausted from running all over Los Angeles doing the touristy things, including a full day at Disneyland yesterday. Could you believe she wanted to go to UNIVERSAL STUDIOS instead of Disney?!?!?! I had to tell her, NOOOOOOOOOO, you want Disney, trust me! First ride I took her on was Space Mountain and of course she had a blast!

Obligatory Partners picture.

Yesterday, my STD magnets arrived! I ordered them on 5/24 and Vista Print said it would take 3 weeks, but it only took a week and a half! They are perfect, but I'm not going to post them yet in case any guests are lurking on my PJ. I also am using a website called DocUPrint.com to print the pages of my STD book. They only charge 20 cents per page, while Staples wanted about 3x that! Hopefully they come out okay. I placed the order today and they should arrive by June 15. My STD books are coming along nicely and I can't wait to share them here!

FINALLY, as most of you have probably seen on Carly's FB page, my Cameo Land caricature is done! It's great, my only beef is that she copies your inspiration picture EXACTLY, right down to my ever-present but ugly ponytail holder around my wrist, heh. If I would have known I would have asked her to leave that out, and I would have used a pic where we both are smiling. I sent in other pictures of us because I didn't know she just copied from one picture. Otherwise I highly recommend ordering from her (the website is www.etsy.com/shop/cameoland). We did everything through email, it was very easy, and she had great communication. From the sound of it, I think she is very willing to make a design that is tailored to your fandom. I love the castle of course, and I asked if there could be fireworks even if it wasn't a night scene and she said OF COURSE.

I am glad that you got your magnets so quickly and that you are pleased with the result.

You have to clue me in as to what an STD book is. I have never come across this before. Googling it did not help either. All the hits were on a thoroughly unpleasant topic.

I love the caricature.

By the way, I had reached out to the photographers for which you posted the link to enquire about the possibility to do a TTD shot. Unfortunately they are out of town during the dates that I am still in Southern California after the vow renewal. I was hoping to get a different style for those photos, but may just ask my photographer if she is available for a TTD shoot.

Oh goodness! Never google STD! STD = Save the Date in the wedding world. My STD announcement will be a little fairy tale book.

That's great that you got your magnets! I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures once you send them out :)

Also, the caricature is so cute! It came out really nicely, and it's a fun keepsake to have.

Yes, I realized this very quickly. I had kind of figured that STD here stands for Save the Date. I have started to get this concept. As far as I understand it they are like preliminary invitations so that people can have maximum notice of the wedding with proper invitations going out nearer the time. I still have no clue what a Save The Date Book is. Is this where you are recording people's responses?

Yeah, the magnet goes inside the book, heh. It's rather complicated and I'm not sure how it will all fit together yet.

I am sure it will all work out great. I can't wait to see the finished result.

Wow, the first one is great! It's beautiful, and so... whimsical, in a way. I think fantasy is a good website to describe it :goodvibes It's also PINK! Definitely look into that ;)

 I love them both! Their both beautiful! The first one says whmiscal to me, the second for me personally seems like like whiscal as well but also a bit saloon girl, and being from the west..Well I love the saloon girl look! Both are so pretty! I love them! :lovestruc

I really love the top and the drop waist of the first dress, and the bottom skirt of the second dress. The website does do custom orders so I will be inquiring if this mashup is possible.

I went to Joann and Michaels today and found some fun wedding things.

First, I found these peach-orangeish plastic flowers that I think would look fab in a bouquet.

5823499962_f50e161822.jpg

Speaking of the bouquet, I recently found a picture of a bouquet made out of fabric flowers. So I looked up a tutorial and decided to try it.

I bought a remnant of polyester fabric in blue for $2 at Joann, just to try out the process.

Next I cut out four circles of varying sizes.

5823500622_3e13673479.jpg

Then I set up a candle to melt the edges of the fabric, and a wet towel in case of fabric flare-ups! :scared1: Polyester actually melts instead of burns.

I CAREFULLY melted the edges of the fabric circles by holding the edge close to the flame and rotating.

5822937733_be538fc26a.jpg

It's hard to see, but the edges start to dimple and curl very quickly.

First layer completed.

5822938291_f1e76c3239.jpg

I repeated the process with the other three layers, and got a little better at is as I went along.

5823502078_68ea3f43d2.jpg

Then I layered them going from smallest to largest, and sewed a quick stitch in the middle.

5822949145_531b9882b3.jpg

So now that I know I can do this and they actually look okay, I think I will attempt to make my own bouquet! With pink and orange fabric and sparklies in the middle, yay!

I hope that they can work with you to make you the dress of your dreams. Would you go with completely pink or with the pink and black?

I love the plastic flowers and your attempt of making your own artificial flowers. That flower looks great and it will look great with something shiny in the middle. I am pretty crafty, but I would have been scared of trying to make my own bouquet.

Corinna

The flowers look really neat! I saw some fabric bouquets on etsy.com I liked too. You should check them out for inspiration. I typed in Fabric Bridal Bouquets and got lots of cool ideas. Thank you for showing me this. It has inspired me to give it a try!

Ooooh look what I found http://www.simplyvintagegirl.com/blog/index.php/2010/05/29/tutorial-how-to-make-lovely-fabric-flowers/

Also a bunch of tutorials on fabric flowers here. http://tipnut.com/fabric-flowers/

GREAT tutorials! Thanks for posting!
