My sisters and I are going on a trip this summer. They think we are only going to Magic Kingdom but I'm surprising them with 4 day tickets.
One of my sisters is retired military. I know we can go to SoG to get the tickets but I'm worried we won't get there before they close on our arrival day.
My son is active duty military. I can ask him to buy the salute tix and mail them to me. Do they have to be activated with his ID or will my sister's military ID be ok?
Thank you!

If you buy the tickets at SoG, they are already activated. You can actually buy tickets via SoG before your trip, if your arrival time is a concern. Just go to their website and you can purchase the tickets that way. SoG will verify the military member's ID as part of the purchase process. This may, however, ruin the element of surprise you're looking for.

If you have your son buy the tix at his base, the tix will not be activated and he would have to be with you at WDW to activate them because they'll be issued under his name and he would need to actually use one of the tix.

Shades of Green has a great page on their website that I found super helpful explaining different tickets, requirements, and how to buy.

I bought the military promotional park hopper tickets. On the email it states to bring you military ID with you when entering park. My mother is the one with the ID but she won’t always go to the works with us. Has anybody been recently? Are they checking military IDs? Thanks for any info!

The military member only has to be present with you on the first visit. After that, you are free to visit the parks with or without the military ID holder.

I forgot to mention that these were already purchased through Shades of Green and have been loaded onto our app. Some say that makes a difference. Just not sure.

If you bought them from Shades of Green then they're already active you really don't need the military id at all. For instances. where they're bought from a base you'll need military member/spouse with id to activate them with you at any guest relations prior to going to a park, but again once their activated you all can come/go as please no mil. id required.

Anyone purchase party tickets from SoG? How did the process work? Did you put the party and date in the form? Xmas goes on sale next week so i want to be ready when SoG updates their site to purchase.

How long after sending the email did it take for them to call? Did they waive the $15 fee since they send everything via email?

Do they email the salute tickets as well?

Am I better off just buying the party tickets through Disney and going to MWR for salute tickets? 🎅🏻

I know a military person can purchase 6 salute tickets, but how many Magic Your Way tickets can be purchased from Shades of Green in addition to the salute tickets?

The limit does not exist? I do not believe there is a limit per service member. My FIL purchased more than 6 for us in a year before

No limit. I bought them for my siblings and their families for our upcoming trip. That was 15 tickets! There's only a limit on the Salute tickets.

Has anyone bought military salute tickets with a Veterans ID? I’ve called and got different answers. Shades of green told me two different answers, so has Disney.

Veteran ID as in retired? Regular retirement or medically? With at least 20 years of service or less? If you have at least 20 yrs of service you're covered, but I know medical retirement also counts.

on a facebook post someone mentioned a special pricing on the photo pass for military. does anyone know where this is? from disney itself or from shades of green or pre purchase on tix at the base.

You buy it at guest services at Disney - it’s $98 with military ID

I work for the police within the UK. When I've been to the states before and asked if they provide discount for emergency services, they usually lump it together and place it with a military discount. Is this something Disney would do at all, or does anyone else know if it would be recognised?

Unfortunately no, it is solely for the US military and certain military ID needs to be shown to qualify

My understanding is it's 100% disabled, "medically retired," retired (20+ YOS), Guard/Reserve, or active duty. Now what SoG defines as "medically retired," I'm not sure. Medically retired is a very specific circumstance--usually involuntary retirement after reaching 20 YOS due to medical issues.
