Military Ticket Questions and Discussions

on a facebook post someone mentioned a special pricing on the photo pass for military. does anyone know where this is? from disney itself or from shades of green or pre purchase on tix at the base.
From Disney, it's $99. I believe and I think you can only do it while you're there at guest relations.

I work for the police within the UK. When I've been to the states before and asked if they provide discount for emergency services, they usually lump it together and place it with a military discount. Is this something Disney would do at all, or does anyone else know if it would be recognised?
Disney does not offer an “emergency services” discount — police, fire, rescue, etc. The military offers are in conjunction with the US military services and as such requires a very specific ID. Even most US veterans do not qualify.

My understanding is it's 100% disabled, "medically retired," retired (20+ YOS), Guard/Reserve, or active duty. Now what SoG defines as "medically retired," I'm not sure. Medically retired is a very specific circumstance--usually involuntary retirement after reaching 20 YOS due to medical issues.
Medically retired gets you a retired ID, not the same as a Veterans ID.

Has anyone bought military salute tickets with a Veterans ID? I’ve called and got different answers. Shades of green told me two different answers, so has Disney.
Only 100% disabled Vets can buy salute tickets.

Anyone purchase party tickets from SoG? How did the process work? Did you put the party and date in the form? Xmas goes on sale next week so i want to be ready when SoG updates their site to purchase.

How long after sending the email did it take for them to call? Did they waive the $15 fee since they send everything via email?

Do they email the salute tickets as well?

Am I better off just buying the party tickets through Disney and going to MWR for salute tickets? 🎅🏻
We just purchased.tix for MNSSHP and we wrote the date we wanted on the form. I also included it in my email. They call you to confirm your service and get payment, so you can confirm dates then too.

Do all the days have to be used within a certain time period, like regular tickets, or can you use them any day of the year, just all have to be used before expiration? My sister went in April, but has two days left, so she thinks she can use them in October. Just checking to see if this is correct.

Did she have a Salute ticket? If so the remaining days are good to use anytime before expiration in mid-December.

If it was a military discounted MYW ticket, all entitlements expired 14 days after first use.

As said above, if she has salute tickets she can probably still use them in October. Shades of Green’s website has all the info on terms and conditions. We did this last year. Bought 5-day Salute tickets, used 1 day in February after a Disney cruise, then used 4 days in November after Thanksgiving.

My brother in law is going to order tickets for us through Shades of Green. He is 100% disabled veteran. I know they will be the Magic Your Way tickets.
I am traveling with my mother and father in law plus my wife and kids.

How long does it take to get tickets from Shades of Green? Want to know how soon I should get this rolling for trip at the end of January.
I know they say on website they eligible service member has to pay. Do you know if there is anyway around this so it can go on my card?

I don't know about timing for Shades of Green, but they don't care whose credit card pays, as long as the Veteran is the one requesting the tickets.

I'm pretty sure it has to be the sponsor or spouse from prior experiences

I just found this:

How do I pay for my tickets? There isn't anywhere to put my credit card on the form?
To protect our guests as best we can; we ask that you keep your payment information confidential until one of our advanced ticket order agents contacts you to verify your order over the phone. We verify your eligibility, confirm that nothing has changed since your order submission, and then ask you for payment details. We will charge the total amount added up on the order form with your authorized signature. Only the SPONSOR or SPOUSE may pay if you are ordering tickets in advance. If your civilian guests or family insist on paying, they can only do so by actually transferring the money over to the eligible service member or spouse before purchase. We accept cash if you are making your purchase here in person. You may pay with a check if you would like to mail in your order.

It really varies. SOG staff may call quickly or it can take a week or two (or occasionally longer), depending on how busy it is. Once they call and process the order, tickets usually arrive fairly quickly.

Supposedly they do electronic tickets now, but when I was considering buying tickets recently, they still have a $15 fedex fee on the order page. That adds a couple more days to ticket arrival if they're still mailing them.

Thanks for clarifying.

You can always just stop by when you get there and buy them if worse comes to worse. We’ve done that when we decided to do a last minutes day at WDW. Just check their hours.

This is what I saw and was curious how strict they are to it.

I would say to be safe, order your tickets 4-6 weeks in advance. I don't think ours have ever taken more than 3 weeks (from submitting the initial form to digital delivery), but we prefer to be safe on that one.

Decided to do a 1 day WDW trip on our way to a FL wedding. We haven't been since this reserve your park day. We are going to do our park day on October 4th.
1. Has anyone experienced not being able to reserve which park you want on the date you want using the military ticket? We'd like MK but would be good with anything but AK as well.
2. I'm confused are the tickets still mailed or can they be sent electronically? If mailed am I too close to my travel date now?
Would the advice be to just buy a regular ticket? Thank you

It might be tight ordering it online through Shades of Green. They were very quick in responding to us (called the day after submitting the form) but I know they say to allow up to 3 weeks. The ticket was emailed as soon as we paid. Very easy process.

Can you go to SOG and pick one up once you get there? We haven't had any issues reserving any park with military or AP tickets. I really wish they would get rid of the park reservations, but it is what it is.

Tickets can be mailed electronically. There can be some delays between when you fill out your ticket request form and when a SoG rep calls to confirm payment, or a delay between payment and email delivery. It can take as little as a week, but it is dependent on how busy they are.

Yes I can pick them up at Shades of Green when I get there. I just wasn't sure if I'd have trouble doing a next day park reservation.
