Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party Central 2005

We will miss you - we are planning MVMCP on the 27th. We did get to meet up with a woman from Whitman last time.

Are you flying out of Logan?

I could have gone on the 27th but wanted to go on my birthday and also go with my sister who flies in on Novemer 28.

We always fly out of Boston.

"What does anybody think? I hate to spend the extra $ if they are going to want to leave at 8pm because they are tired? "
___________

We take a different mindset with us -- we attended MNSSHP this past October 2004 with our 6-year-old son and had a wonderful time, but we left when we were all tired -- right after the early parade and fireworks. I know it's hard to beat the mindset of, "we spent the money and so we are going to get every penny's worth," but if you can look at each Disney day instead as, "what's going to be the most fun for us and still leave us able to function and have fun the next day?" -- particularly when travelling with children -- then you can just enjoy the time you spend and not worrying about getting more or doing more. We spent a couple of hours at MNSSHP, had a blast, and went back to our hotel when we'd had enough (after an early dinner at TTS), and talk about it as a highlight of the trip. We'll take the same approach when we attend MVMCP this December (12/4/2005), and I know we'll have a great time even if we leave after a couple of hours.....

Are the tickets for sale yet? I called and she said they are not on her
computer yet. Has anyone bought their tickets yet?
Nevermind- I just saw the post the dates are not official yet!! Helps if I read the posts!

So where did the OP get the dates that were listed in the post that started this thread?

The dates have been very predictable the last few years. Assuming the same pattern hold the dates posted will be correct (with the possible exception of Dec 20). But it won't be official for some time yet.

We are doing land/sea Dec 3-11, DS (turning 8 on trip) and DD (4). I was wondering if it would be "worth it" or if they will be to tired. I was thinking we could go Tues. Dec 6th after being at MGM. Then head back to MK the 7th., We will also be spending Dec 5th at MK. Or we could go the 4th after AK? What does anybody think? I hate to spend the extra $ if they are going to want to leave at 8pm because they are tired? We have 4 day park hoppers. Thanks, Tricia

Whatevery you do I would suggest turning in a little earlier the night before your cruise starts. There is alot going on that day with little to no time to rest & most kids & adults are worn out that night. DS fell asleep at early seating the second night before we made the kids take a short nap in the afternoon.

The DIS says those dates are from a very reliable source.

We went to Mickey's VMCP in December last year and the streets were so busy but the rides were quiet.
I had to call from the UK to book our tickets and already the dates for Friday had been sold out.
The queues for the free family photo were also very long and to be honest, even though it was a lovely little memento, it wasn't that great quality.
The cookies were delicious but in the dark you really struggle to find where to get the cookies and hot chocolate from even with your map.
It really is magical though and to see Main Street with the Christmas Tree and snow falling with carols playing was really magical.
The night we went it was lovely and warm so no need for our sweaters. My tip though is to stay for the later parade and watch it from the bottom of Main Street by the exit-this way you can make a quick getaway.
The mono rail was really busy though at this time.

Hello again!

I believe that I am sold on going to MVMCP during our December trip this year!! It was tough...I read and re-read all of the posts from the 2004 thread and on this one & I think it really came down to my "mindset"! There seems to have been a negative post for every positive one about MVMCP, but the consensus seems to be "You need to do it (at least) one time".

Soooo, we're going to try it this year!!!

I did read that there was a shortage of t-shirts available for this event...did anyone actually get one? If you did, how & when did you get a shirt & if you remember, what was the cost for an adult shirt and/or a child's shirt??

Thanks a bunch!!

Ahhh, something else to look forward to during our magical trip!!!

We were at the Nov 30th MVMCP when I purchased an adult t-shirt. Want to say it cost $15. They still had plenty at that point but it was only the 2nd night of the party.

Has anyone been to MVMCP on opening night?? If so..how were the crowds?

Okay-opinions please. We are doing the 7 day magic on Dec.17. I want to do MVMCP on the 16th. Here's my question:
My youngest (dd5) has never been to Disneyworld and I want to do the Magic Kingdom while she is still this age. Would it be a waste of money to go to the park all day and then the party that night? (We would schedule some rest in the late afternoon) Or would the party be enough time for her to really experience MK? I really want to do both but I don't think DH will want to spend that much on top of the cruise. What would you do?

goofyshell ~ the ride lines during MVMCP are very, very light. Most people attend the party for the shows and parade and to meet the characters in their holiday attire. I honestly think that if you skip the parade and shows then you can get the entire experience of MK in just those few hours. However if you are wanting to get the experience of MVMCP then you won't have time to do both.

Hi Goofy Shell

We did the MVMCP in Dec 04 on a Wednesday night. We then went back to the park on the Friday as I don't think you get the full benefit of MK at the party due to the fact that Main Street is so busy and it is dark. You can miss some of the small details which is such a shame. My son is 2 and to see his little face light up on both visits was such a picture.
The rides are quiet, especailly during the main parade time so I would advise that if you do go back another day to get some of these big rides under your belt then.
You could always go back to MK on another day and spend half a day there, or a full day depending on how your DH takes it!
Even with a break I think it is a very long day for small people so I would go back another day during daylight hours.
Enjoy x

Is the parade shown during the party the same one that is shown during the day?

As far as I am aware it is the same parade that is on Christmas Day, I don't think that it is the same one that is on during the normal opening hours. I could be wrong though

Nope, during the day is Share a Dream Come True and at MVMCP is the Christmas Parade.

Once MVMCP is over with then they replace SDCT parade with the MVMCP parade during the day.

I keep reading that the tickets will go on sale on May 1.

Will the fact that May 1 is a Sunday affect this start date? Could they possibly start selling tickets earlier or later?

What is the phone number to call to order tickets and at what time in the morning do they usually start answering the phone?

No it's not a fact. They went on sale May 1 last year though. Yes, they could possibly start selling them earlier this year or even later...

You call the regular Disney number...they open at 7:00a. I believe but I'm not 100% sure.
