I don't have a favorite color, it depends on what I'm coloring. Dh likes dark purple. His favorite character is the satyr Philoctetes or "Phil" from Hercules or any of the guy characters from Cars or Mr. Incredible.

Now you have me stumped. Let's see if we can narrow this down a bit without giving away too much. If it was for something wearable, are there some colours that you prefer over others?

Goodness, the cruise better arrives quickly or else I will need an extra suitcase for just the FE gifts. I found some fantastic stuff for Cruise Survival Goodie Bag yesterday. Will people have their fish extenders out for the first night? I want people to have this for the duration of the cruise.
I wonder if there are any more Crocs fans here. We now have a Crocs store in our shopping mall and I just have to have a pair of black Primas for the cruise. That is on top of the half a dozen or so styles and colours that I have already. I live in them when I am not at work.

Croc fan here! Although I have only the 1 pair at the moment - the pink and white Mickey Mouse ones :)

Hopefully I will be able to meet with Patricia at some point on the first day and get my FE :teeth: I think she is just down the hall from me!!

This is the one style that seems to elude me. They never have the colours I like in my size. Maybe this year.

Any sign of the the Passporter yet?

Hayley,

we will definately meet the first day at some point so you can have your FE. And yes, we are on deck 7 also, so we'll find each other if we don't meet up before.

Definitly a crocs fan here. I have my black/red mickey ones for work and then I have a pair of capris and a pair of adara. I love my crocs. They are SO comfortable! The capris I wore all around Animal Kingdom and the adara's I wore all around Amsterdam. They are great! I get mine on ebay.
I will definitly have our FE out the first night. I plan to do that right after we get to our room (along w/ the magnets). Patrica, you could always hang Hayley's out on her fish for her if things get a little crazy the first night w/ the sail away party and dinner and shows and the whirl wind of being so eurphoricaly happy. ;)
I have not done any shopping yet for the FE. I was looking at stuff in Holland but w/ the exchange rate it just wasn't doable. I'll think of something. :)

 That's true! You can just hang it up for me if we don't find each other, if you don't have enough time on the first time :)

Do you mean me with the Passporter Corinna? I haven't seen any passporter if you mean me :(

Eeeeeee! I'm excited!!

Yea, Hayley, I think Corinna posted a little further up that she forgot she had your Passporter still and put it in the mail (post as you say on that side of the pond) and was checking if you got it yet.

Hi Hayley,
yes, I meant you. I posted it first class yesterday morning and considering that we live relatively close, I hoped it might have got there today. Maybe tomorrow. I could not believe it when I was looking for a book and found it still sat on the shelf. My copy looks well loved by now. There is not a day going by when I do not pick it up to check something out.

Well, I had a GREAT time in Amsterdam. We got in at 820am on Friday morning. The airport in Amsterdam is beautiful. It is like a shopping mall with many stores and little cafes. We went to a kiosk in the airport and selected a hotel. We went out to wait for our bus to the hotel and I had plenty of time to lust over the good looking dutch men. These guys are very tall (they are the tallest country in the world after all), in great shape, blonde hair, blue eyes, most are young.....I was drooling so much that when two cute little dutch boys walked by my brother commented that that is what his new little dutch newphew was going to look like. :lmao: We got to the hotel and checked in. The hotel had an old fashion lift.....it was as big as a telephone booth and you had to manually open the door to get in and out. Not at all what I was use to and was glad that I am not clastrophic! We showered changed, took the bus back to the airport, and the train into the city. There were TONS of people in the city. It was like one giant party. I was immediately struck by the architecture and all the bicycles (the main mode of transportation in the city).

We got a map and headed right for the Anne Frank house. You know reading the book is one thing but actually being there is an incrediable experience. Seeing how tiny the rooms they lived in for two years were and how dark things were with the windows blacked out. Walking where they walked was just very solomon. One thing that really stuck with me was a video by Otto Frank. He was saying how close he and his daughter Anne were and that they talked often. He said that after he read her diary that he had no idea that she had the thoughts and ideas that were in her diary. He had no idea that his laughing and loving daughter was so serious....it was not the daughter he knew he stated. He said it made him realize that no matter how close you are to your child you will still never really know them. I thought that that was a very profound statement. After the Anne Frank house we hiked over to the Heiniken factory. After what seemed like miles, we were dismayed to find it was closed for renovation. We went to the buisness office to ask if there was any public area open they told us no but gave us some nice little gifts. After such a long walk, we went across the street to a cute little cafe and parched our thirst w/ some Heiniken! I am normally not a beer drinker but this was good stuff!

My brother and I took our pictures in front of the Heniken plant

After we sat and had our brew for a little while, it was back to pounding the pavement. We encountered our first coffee house. Now I had many people ask me if I would smoke weed while I was over there and I told them no. If I wanted to, there was never any need to spend my own money. You can get high from just walking by these places!

Amsterdam005.jpg

We ran across a really neat little square. There was a tiny little park w/ a recreation of a famous painting by Rembrant with a large statue of Rembrant behind it.
Amsterdam025.jpg

We found a little cafe to sit at and have another round of Heniken. There was a street performer who was dressed as a clown. He was hysterical! To be able to improv the way he did was incrediable. There was an older woman who rode by him on a bicycle and ran behind her and jumped on her bike surpriseing her. Another time he took a girls cell phone that she was talking on and screamed into the phone. He went up to a couple holding hands and pulled their hands apart. He then pushed the guy away and tried to walk off with the girl. He had another girl lay down her bike and he walked her over and tried to get her to take some one elses motorcycle. He would tap someone on the shoulder and as they turned to look he would jump in front of them and scare them half to death. It just went on and on. He was brilliant! We walked around some more after that and decided to do a canal cruise. The canals are just gorgeous there!
Amsterdam021.jpg

They said that they have a low lying railing to keep the cars from going into the canal but even that does not stop one car a week from going into the canal.
By the end of the cruise it was already 7pm so we decided to get some dinner
and do some shopping. The Euro is one Euro for every 58cents so things were very expensive for me even those things were priced like they would be over here.
When things started to get dark (about 1030) we headed over to the red light district
Amsterdam001.jpg

Now THAT was an experience! These very beautiful girls (they look like runway models) are in various windows and glass doors that have red lights illuminating them. They are dressed in the most revealing sexy outfits. If you like one of the girls she will open her door and neogtiate a price. They also have sex theatres there in which they preform live sex acts on stage.....complete with audience participation. I did not elect to go and experience the sex theatre but I was invited to but a dutch guy that looked like the crypt keeper. He told my brother and I that the accept many couples. :scared1:
After that we took the train back to the airport and the bus back to the hotel. I thought the bed was a little hard but that is the last thing I remember until the alarm went off in the morning. :rotfl: We were lucky enough to have first class on the plane there and back so traveling while being pampered was just another part of the wonderful adventure.
So I hope that I didn't bore you. I tried to keep it short and sweet. I would definitly recommend visiting Amsterdam! That was my weekend!

Thanks so much for posting the pics Dawn! It sounds like you have a great time.

I will have to get my butt over there someday.(like when the dollar is worth something again ;) )

Have you ever been to a Rays game? We are thinking about going this weekend. They have some great prices for families on the Sunday games.

Wow Dawn! :cool1: It looks like you guys had an amazing time and it's nice to put a face with the writing! :goodvibes

Thank you for sharing your experience!!!!

Ohhh, in that case, I like red.

Crocs - they're the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Oh, Patty....39 Days:banana:

Dawn, the pictures are fantastic! Excellent report. I really want to go to Amsterdam now! I'm so glad you were able to go. Are you tired?

Great photos Dawn! I can't believe the Heineken place was closed! That's just silly! Glad you still enjoyed yourselves though! We loved Amsterdam! I know what you mean about Crypt guy!

Corinna - Thank you so much! That's no problem, just thanks so much for sending it, I'll keep a lookout for it! I was worried for a moment that you'd sent it ages ago and it had got lost in the post

I only have croc sandals (two different pairs). Hubby asked if we should get some before our trip, lol

Ohhh, in that case, I like red.

Thanks. Now I can get up to serious mischief tomorrow.

I do agree with your assessment about Crocs. I would periodically see the Cayman or Beach style at work on dress down days and always thought that I would not been seen dead in anything so ugly. Then I went to Orlando and needed some new shoes that I could wear in the water at Discovery Cove. I had to throw out my old Aquasocks and in November 2006 none of them were to be found anywhere. So I bought a pair of Crocs imitations at Seaworld. I was surprised how comfortable they were. So I decided to get a pair of Crocs and I have not looked back since. They and Doc Martins are the only shoes I can wear without my heels killing me.

Dawn the photos were fantastic. I only have been to Amsterdam once as a child. I really enjoyed it, but I have never been back. Graham and I have been discussed going for years, but we never seem to get around to it.

I have to stop procrastinating . I have a meeting today with my line manager to discuss my portfolio for my Institute for Leadership and Management certification. Well as of last night there still was no portfolio. I am so silly busy at the moment. I managed to do a little bit of work yesterday and then worked some more on it when I got home. This morning I got up early to finish it off. I have two of the sections covered (providing feedback and delegation), but I am somewhat stumped on the monitoring performance part. i have about an hour to complete this. The only thing that is then outstanding is my action plan, but as my line manager still has not done my pre-course assessment, I cannot really do this. i am hoping that we will cover this in the meeting.

Hey Monica, no fair!!!! You aren't supposed to be up at that hour posting! (actually I've fallen behind). Had no internet at work for two days so I didn't have time to play on the DIS during the day.

On a side note, I picked up my wedding dress for our vow renewal!!!! And most of all it FITS (well minor alterations, but it's not too small anywhere, wooohooo!!!)
