Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party COSTUME Pictures - post here!

Here is a picture of my son, last year @ MNSSHP...Can you guess who he was??;)

Cute costume, I love it. Did your son have a hard time getting in and out of rides with his robe hanging all the way to the ground. Im asking because my costume has a skirt that hangs to the ground, and I was just wondering about rides like splash mountain and pirates that might make you a bit wet

just found this thread- OMG, so cute! Of course, now I'm gonna have to start sewing...

Here is one of my DD9 and myself last year.

I asked this question to another poster, but I see in your photo that you could answer also. Was it difficult to keep ( Im assuming your wife's) skirt on her long dress dry while riding rides? I have a long skirt that I am wanting to wear for MNSSHP and was just wondering if it was too burdensome to keep dry after riding Splash, or trying to ride Space mountain or BTRM?:thumbsup2

Wow! I've loved looking at everyone's photos... some very creative costume ideas here. I'm trying to think of something for this September. Here's a picture of my friend and I (I'm Tigger) from 2006... VERY homemade as you can see:eek:

Okay I have to chime in because this thread is SOOOO great! All of these costumes have been amazing I can't even pick out a favorite! So many cute kids and groups of dalmatians, mouseketeers, scooby-doo's gang...all of them are great! Now I want to go to WDW at Halloween time! Thanks for sharing everyone.

Has anyone done the Incredibles family?

Here's our family last year -- I wanted outfits to be cool and these fit the bill.

I made all of them

Cast:
Me - Wendy Darling
DH - John Darling
DS - Peter Pan (and a pirate ship 'costume' for the stroller)
DS's Nanny - Tiger Lily

Here we are back home on Halloween at our church Fall Festival -- note DS has leggings and warm shoes on - the shorts and sandals were NOT going to work in our cold climate!

Halloween2007.jpg

I'm currently trying to figure out what we are going to do this year. It's really hard to come up with something for a woman of my size... :rolleyes1 (DS won't fit the Peter Pan top this year - and I'm not in the mood to make a new one LOL)
It will just be DS and me this year - DH can't take the time off and I thought it would be a nice getaway for just the 2 of us.

We didn't wear these at WDW, but they could be worn there...

Not exactly creative, but my DD was 3 months at the time. I wore a tinkerbell t-shirt and my DH wore a captain hook Tshirt.

great thread, we are trying to decide what to be... three year old twin girls, myself and husband!! any suggestions??

Fantasic costumes everyone!!! :thumbsup2

Here's something I wrote up and use to have on MNSSHP Central when I moderated TPAS a few years ago.Maybe it can be of some help with costume ideas!

MY DS Erich as Puss n Boots 2004
MNSSHP2004.jpg

So you've got your 2008 MNSSHP tickets, your PS,your hotel ,your "what to do" list while at WDW.Now it's time to think about HALLOWEEN COSTUMES!

It doesn't matter if your 8mths or 80 years old...single,Mommy and Daddy, teens, empty nesters...small,meduim or large!!! Halloween at WDW is a time to dress up and "feel" like a kid again! Let you imagination run wild...those folks will never see you again anyway!!

Here's Disney's "official" guidlines for costumes at MNSSHP:

They should not interfere with their ability to board and unboard attractions and WDW transportation system..

Do not drag on the ground.

Do not contain sharp or pointed objects or material that may accidentally strike another guest.

Be offensive to other guest.

Should not contain any weapon(s) which resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.

About the last one....when Erich was a pirate he had a flexible rubber pirate knife with a skull on the end. When the boys were Ninja Turtle's one had plastic swords strapped to his back and the other the little plastic daggers in his belt.We had NO PROBLEMS either time with these props.I've seen light sabers as props too.

Costume Tips

Make sure the costume is COMFORTABLE and EASY to get around in.You'll be getting on and off rides and do not want anything that is cumbersome.

If your little girl is going to be a Princess or something quite lovely... I know she looks adorable in those glass slippers but bring sneakers or some other comfortable shoe for her to wear.I've seen little ones dragging around crying about their feet hurting because they're in those plastic dress up shoes which are killing them!

I also suggest something in a light weight fabric. Those of us that are accustom to Halloweens up North are use to Trick or Treating in something warm.I grew up in Indiana and it was always cold and/or raining when I was a Trick or Treater! The costumes that are sold through the Disney catalog, like Tigger or Pooh, the jump suit FUR type ones, those are really TOO HEAVY for a Halloween in Florida! The most we've ever needed at MNSSHP is a light jacket or sweatshirt.

I make my boys costumes.A ball cap and craft foam or felt can be turned into all sorts of creatures faces! Let's see the costumes I can remember... Erich has been Mickey,a pirate ,a t-rex,a turtle,a triceratops,an Ewok.Jonathan and Erich were Teenage Ninja Turtles,Pokemons and Erich was a praying Mantis and Puss in Boots from Shrek. I make the costumes from shorts and t-shirts.Then I have a sweatshirt and sweatpants that are the same color that they can wear over the shorts and under the shirt if the night is chilly.Joe and I have worn Disney themed t-shirts and light jacket if it's gotten chilly.

If you feel like you're too old or just don't want to dress in costume for MNSSHP I have great luck the last few years finding Disney themed Halloween t-shirts in my local Kmart,Walmart and Target. At WDW I have seen commemorative t-shirts for the MNSSHP selling for about $20.

You can also go over to the Creative DISigns Board here at the DIS and make your own t-shirts. http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=105

Quick, easy to pack costumes.

101 Dalmations...White shorts/pants and t-shirts and go to town with spots! Ears could be made out of felt or craft foam on ball caps (esp for the guys) or maybe headbands for the ladies.

Mickey Mouse Club...Red pants, mouse ears,t-shirts with each ones name on it.:earsboy::earsgirl:

Baseball players...Your favorite team's jersey/t-shirt and a ball cap, shorts or sweats and sneakers.

Hippies...Tye dyed shirt, round framed glasses, beads, peace sign jewlery, jeans or a long skirt and sandals.

Pirate... Easy and light weight too.Black shorts or capris, striped shirt, bandana,an eye patch,a hoop earring and there ya go....arrrrrrrrrrgh matey!pirate:

HAPPY HAUNTINGS to you and yours at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party 2008!!! :hmghost:

Wow...all your costumes are great! I love looking at the pictures.

I have a question though, if you don't mind. This will be our first MNSSHP. It will be me, dh and our dd9. Now, my husband will NEVER dress up. But I want me and dd to. Would we look too out of place if we were to wear non-matching costumes? I was thinking about being Dorothy, and dd...well, she wants to be Sally (nightmare before Christmas) or Tess Tyler (Camp Rock) or something like that. Will our trio look goofy? lol

Only if you dress like him! :lmao:

Seriously though, no. Lots of people wear costumes that don't match each other.

I love everyone's costumes! We're going to our first party in September.

I'm going as Minnie Mouse (I have the same red dress as the little girl in the first pic!)

But I need ideas for DH! He'll most likely be on his EVC. Any and ALL ideas are appreciated!

Funny story: I wore the costume last Halloween at a friend's party and the kids there were star struck. It was hilarious! :rotfl: After I left a couple of the kids had my friend call me because they wanted to talk to "Minnie Mouse"!

Thanks!!

But I need ideas for DH! He'll most likely be on his EVC. Any and ALL ideas are appreciated!

Depending on his circumstances, he might find it funny to dress as a race car driver and put some race car 'stickers' on the EVC -- and a race car number too (hook paper images to the EVC with tape or zip ties), but if he's sensitive about the EVC, then probably not...
(don't know his specific situation and I am not intending any disrespect with that comment)

If he wanted to 'match' he could go as Mickey. The EVC is not relevant to his costume.

You could also do a web search for wheelchair costumes. Most of those are designed around traditional wheelchairs, but might spark an idea with the EVC.
