Mickey and The Promise of Cheesy Dorito Fingers- Oct 2012 PTR Update 10/06

my kids are really bad about throwing things randomly to "pick Up" rather than put things in their home. I've gotten to the point that when they are looking for something, i tell them they should have put it where it belongs rather than help them find it. I've just had enough of it:lmao:

we have not had problems with crocs rubbing blisters. i tend to buy them big- since they come in dual sizing a lot of the times. i don't buy on the small end so that can maximize the time that they fit. but i've been known to put preventative bandaids on her with some of her sandals

Thanks, I’ll try the band aide. My daughter has my face, but inherited her father’s skinny feet. I got the Mary Jane style because her feet swim in the others and she’s almost walking out of the ones that are actually her size. She has been asking for the ones that change color. Not happening :sad2:

Fortunately or unfortunately my ds got his father's face, but his feet from the men on my side of the family. Consistently needs a Wide from Stride Rite, so he is very at home in his.

My daughter has a tendency to come and ask me where different things are and most of the time I haven't even seen the item. Multiple storage items in both their rooms, but, well. You know what happens. My son has one of those picture carpets. It's a city with a lot of roads and he has lots of cars. The cars are supposed to stay in one basket after they are put away at night. But they travel to dd's room, my room, the van, my diaper bag. This morning he went into his room after I dressed him and dumped them all out.

Never a dull day.

i never purchased crocs for May until i had James. after a couple summers of trying to stuff his wide feet into sandals and flip flops, i gave up. now he wears only crocs or trail type sandals - think keen type look. i've found them at old navy the past couple years, among other places, and have picked up a couple pair each summer because they get so stinky. but they are great playground shoes and he will wear them in the parks also.

?....

Never a dull day.

HAH!.....try having FIVE!
The word "DULL" is rarely used in this home!...4 spoiled rotten girls, and 1 high maintenance autistic 14 y/o Orlando Freak boy! (slightly spoiled too)...;)

Cool Swim trunks!....I wonder...do they have them in Big Daddy size!?
Love the tumbler...I drink and/or eat from something Disney themed quite often. After our "Minion Quest" is accomplished, If Gage and I make it to WDW or DTD on this summer trip, I'm gonna load up on more kitchen related items. I'm gonna try to resist using "too many" of my Diz gift cards. I'm "confident" we'll at least hit Disney Quest, I have plenty of tix for that and/or a water park ...(never done a Disney H2O park, always tooooo cold, or too rushed when we've been there...Plus, are there any characters or parades at the water parks?)

no parades at the water parks. i wish they had those trunks in grown up size. they are adorable i promise.

i'm not sure how you manage 5. i used to want 4, then i had one LOL!

i want more kitchen things too. i'm glad that they are coming out with more subtle things, rather than the bright red and yellow pieces. makes dh more likely to let me crowd the kitchen with them.

He's already said he's not interested in any character photos… so I don't think I can get him to agree to a mission with Agent P, LOL!

:lmao:

I know its not set in stone yet, but the more i think about it, the less i think that the discounts will be available for our dates. And so far i'm not lucky with a Pin code.

I know there is still time, but I better come up with some more side money. Side money meaning money not out of the regular budget. I don't want to downgrade the room if i don't have to. I told Chris the trip would
be a certain price, and i've got to do my best to keep it there.

I've got a couple hundred in giftcards from birthdays and Christmas.

I've also put up all my ebates money.

I've started working on mypoints to get a T-Rex giftcard, but I must be missing something, because that is slow going for me.

Something easy to do on the computer would be best, because i'm there most everyday anyway.

anything you guys do for a little side money?

and on a side note... we watched the entire planning video last night. Chris actually got excited about Epcot Food and Wine section, and told the kids that is his favorite part of Disney! and then got maya to agree to ride Tower of Terror with him. Its a BIG deal for him to show Disney excitement!

Don't give up yet! You could still get a PIN...and in past years they haven't offered discounts to the general public for October until as late as August...so hang in there, because you never know :wizard: (I'm really hoping to be able to get something for the second half of my vacation)

I'm with you on the needing pointers on how to come up with some extra cash for Disney...so I'm grabbing popcorn:: and listening in on this one :listen:

I also love the planning video  I may have to watch it again soon

I hope you get a pin for your dates. I went back to the beginning of your PTR, but can't find the dates of your trip. (Yes, I could figure it out, but I'm lazy) When we went for a few days last year before the cruise, our week in Oct. was the only week between the entire summer- holiday season that was blacked out from discounts.:confused3 Do you have AAA, at least you could get the 10-20% off resorts usually.

I joined Mypoints, Ebates and Sunshine Rewards a few years ago. I usually only get a $25 gift card, maybe $50 from Mypoints a year. That is all through e-mail click throughs and the occasional survey from an e-mail link.

I get most of my money through Ebates or Sunshine Rewards from online shopping since I do most of my clothes shopping and Caitlins online. I also do a few surveys from Sunshine Rewards but only get maybe $15-20 a month from that. I usually do 1 survey a night while watching tv or surfing the web. I figure at least it can be money for food. When I wasn't working as much I got about $50 a month from doing surveys on Sunshine Rewards, but once my hours picked up at work I don't bother anymore. I never seem to qualify for the surveys anymore and would get annoyed about wasting time only to be told I didn't qualify. Some people seem to do great though.

I'm looking for any tips people might have too, b/c I really need to bring in some extra money for our Feb. trip. It is an extra trip outside the normal vacation budget so it all needs to come from extra money/ bonus cash.

If no discount comes, perhaps there will be a gift card offer. We had a non-discounted trip the first time and they offered a gift card. We were staying at a value so it was $200. I think it was $350 for a moderate and $500 for deluxe. Seems like they do sometimes offers things if you have no other discount. That one came in really handy for us. I wanted to take $400 in spending money, so it meant I only had to come up with $200.

I joined Mypoints, but I haven’t done very well. I have tried surveys, but only seem to qualify for the ones that put you in some contest. :headache:

Hope you get a pin.

Been MIA for a few days! Love the purchases...you've got some good stuff.

Know what you mean about the extra $$. I got $200 in Visa GC from points at work for our health program. Need to exercise more and schedule some check ups to get enough points for another $100 before we go! Its good motivation to do the things I need to do anyway. What about using coupons, etc and taking the savings and putting them aside until you can buy Disney GCs with them? Or look for savings for restaurants or other activities you do as part of your day to day life and then use the savings for GCs.

We got a 10% pin but I am hoping for a military discount that is a little better. I was just looking at my budget spreadsheet and have already spent $1800 and that doesn't include the treasure chests!!

We are closing in on 100 days!!

i forgot about sunshine rewards. i think i would be better with it and with mypoints if i would remember to do them!

i do most of my clothing shopping online too, so out of all those you mentioned i do best with ebates. when the whole cashback shopping things was just starting, there was one site- can't remember now, but it was more or a search engine site- that had amazing cashback. sometimes they had 25% at old navy!

i can never remember anyone elses dates either. our dates are Oct 10-16. i would not be surprised if they stayed blacked out because we are only a couple days after columbus day.

while the free dining would be the most beneficial for us, i worry about balck out dates and the gift card offer would certainly be better than nothing!

i know that they can still be coming, i just worry about the blackout dates. i'm hoping i'm just acting all eeyore-ish and there is nothing to worry about!

money for working out- wow, i need an incentive like that !

I also do MyPoints and Ebates… and both are slow for me, too.

I thought about selling some things on eBay, but after the fiasco I had recently (it's been over 2 years since I've sold an item and I had issues with the buyer), I'm thinking against that.

What about Plastic Jungle? You can set up an alert to let you know when a certain gift card is available.

I got frustrated with eBay too. I want to use a trading assistant but there aren't any near me. I would lose a lot of my profit on shipping to a TA. So I've just been holding most of it.

I have never used plastic jungle. I keep forgetting about it. Do you like it?

Well, a little news on the money front.

I went to check the mail the other day.

Then there was a little of this  and a little of that:yay:

it was because i saw a red polka dot bow sticking out of the top of the mailbox. i quickly grabbed Minnie to see what she had to say. It was a pin code for free dining. Unfortunately, it excludes almost 2 weeks in the middle of October. I was expecting it, but still don't like it:mad:

hopefully they will come up with a room only for that time frame. although, i was thinking that they only offered the room only to certain groups last year.

On another financial note, remember last month how i was saying that our flights were pretty ridiculously priced. well, Delta has been in the news here a lot lately. they have had rates higher there than in places where they have competition. congress has called them out on it. they deny it of course, spouting that a lot of factors go into the cost of a ticket...blah blah blah....

i checked our ticket prices yesterday and they were down from $450 or something like that to..... $211 each!!!

then i really started doing some dancing

:yay::woohoo::cool1::banana::banana::banana:

i had never planned on paying $450, but i was afraid that i would never find them less than maybe around $280 or $300. So I'm happy!

So on Wednesday, we will check Maya out of school somewhere around 1130, making her there more than half a day. Our flight is at 1:35, and we land at MCO at 4:37

The following Tuesday we leave MCO at 5:35, so ME will pick us up at 2 or 230, giving us a nice morning before departing.

Sorry you didn't get the pin you wanted!

But, yay! for the cheaper airfare! :thumbsup2 That's a good bit less than what they were priced.

its what i was expecting with the pin, but so much better with the airfare! and i'm excited to have it done. makes it a bit more real!

Its a good thing that one of the purposes of a PTR is to get advise, because i've sure needed some from you guys lately!

Maya is doing a Brave themed party this year. i have no idea what to do with the cake or cupcakes. i don't want just the icing picture like you would buy at the grocery, and that's pretty much all i've seen so far. Any creative ideas?

I have no ideas, but I can't wait to see what you come up with. I am more excited than Caitlin to go see the movie tomorrow.

:banana:Good news about the cheaper airfare. That is a huge difference in the budget.

That stinks about the blackout date on the PIN. My dates are always excluded too. :headache:

Hmm .... well, you could do bears ... or try to do Merida and her long red hair... maybe something archery?

I was trying to plan out future family movie nights, and I figured with Brave we would do either bears on cupcakes (piped, fondant, PVC, whatever we could) and/or a girl face with red curly hair.

If you really have to get picky, you could go as wide as nature-themed (with woodsy colors) or Scottish.

Can't wait to see what you decide!

Oh, and check the party aisle and/or store for cupcake/cake toppers that may work with your theme! I need to hit my party store this weekend, as we kick off our first family movie night! (We're doing Muppets, but planning to see Brave Sunday afternoon.)

There were some post about Brave in the Movie Night thread. Try checking in there?
