Mickey and The Promise of Cheesy Dorito Fingers- Oct 2012 PTR Update 10/06

There were some post about Brave in the Movie Night thread. Try checking in there?

good thought, checking it out thanks!

Hmm .... well, you could do bears ... or try to do Merida and her long red hair... maybe something archery?

I was trying to plan out future family movie nights, and I figured with Brave we would do either bears on cupcakes (piped, fondant, PVC, whatever we could) and/or a girl face with red curly hair.

If you really have to get picky, you could go as wide as nature-themed (with woodsy colors) or Scottish.

Can't wait to see what you decide!

Oh, and check the party aisle and/or store for cupcake/cake toppers that may work with your theme! I need to hit my party store this weekend, as we kick off our first family movie night! (We're doing Muppets, but planning to see Brave Sunday afternoon.)

we don't get to see brave this week. chris has to travel so i want to wait until he gets back. i hope the movie will trigger a decision for me though.

I have no ideas, but I can't wait to see what you come up with. I am more excited than Caitlin to go see the movie tomorrow.

:banana:Good news about the cheaper airfare. That is a huge difference in the budget.

That stinks about the blackout date on the PIN. My dates are always excluded too. :headache:

one of the reasons that i like the idea of year round school. surely with non traditional break times they couldn't always be on blackout dates could they?

cant wait to hear what you think about brave!

They have several shots of little "cakes" in the movie, maybe you could make the cupcakes look like those.
(Saw it tonight! It was adorable!!)

And GREAT news on the flights!!

Awesome news on the flights! That will be a huge savings!

I would suggest using lots of plaid for a Brave theme. You can buy the fabric at the fabric store. Use it as a runner. Get some fondant and recreate the plaid on a cake or cupcakes. Give the birthday girl a sash of plaid or tie it around her chair.

I have never used plastic jungle. I keep forgetting about it. Do you like it?

I've never bought any cards off Plastic Jungle. I do have an alert set to let me know when Disney gift cards are available, but every time one is I get there too late and it's gone! :sad2:

Plaid is a great idea. It would make a nice background to some decoration if we go with a basic shape for sure!

Oh, i hope we get to see it soon. i was hoping we could see it on Chris' off day next week but i'm not sure with it being 4th of July. He may talk us into fireworks instead. He's been out of town all week and we wanted to see it together.

i have deal alerts on a different site and that always happens to me too:lmao:

If you were going with cupcakes, I'd suggest decorating them to look like targets, and if you were going with a cake, I'd suggest decorating it like a pie. I got to see the movie on Saturday, and LOVED it! I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but a pie plays a key role in the film. :thumbsup2

Also, congrats on the cheaper flights! Makes me want to :cheer2:

i did some cheering too when i saw those flight prices! for.... and giggles, i checked the flight's price today- its back up to $449.10. if i bought for us today i'd pay almost $1000 more. that's just so ridiculous, because they still have an insane amount of seats available.

i have to get to the movie. dh just keeps saying he'll figure something out. now he's decided he's waited to long to talk to his friend. who knows what it will end up being!!

99 days. 99 days. Dancin in my seat cause it's 99 days!

To celebrate we went to see Brave tonight. Although the celebration part was pretty lame cause i couldn't tell the kids I was celebrating

we really liked Brave!

:woohoo: DOUBLE DIGITS!!! :woohoo:

Such a good feeling!

Glad to hear y'all liked Brave. My family really liked it, too. :goodvibes

I made it all the way through your last TR this week. I feel like I've gotten to know you much better now. :)

SO my husband made a weird comment last night.

He said that they are thinking of closing his restaurant for a week before the end of the year, and that he thinks it would be in be in December because that is his slow time. Then he said he was thinking that he should take his vacation then because otherwise he'd be forced to work in another restaurant for that week.

then he said- so dont go all crazy planning or anything...

i said are you talking about instead of October?

he said- "no"

i looked at him like he was crazy, because he always says that he doesn't want to go to Disney every vacation, Doesn't want to go every year, and definitely not more than once per year ever.

he said, well, you know my hobby is to make you happy :lovestruc

i said, when

he said, i have no idea if it will even happen and if it does i dont knwo if we will know until the week before.

so now he's thrown this on me, sweet comment that it was. even he has expressed interest in being there for Christmas at some point. but he has no idea when or if this will happen. and Christmas is when you definitely need to plan. so what do i do?????? planning wise?

if it did actually happen, it would have to be our Christmas. no going overboard with gifts for each other and the kids like we usually do. its not like i could wait until december to see if it was going to happen in that aspect either.

and if it happened, there would definitely not be any trip next year, which i figured there wouldn't be, although he had made mention of a trip next December. Part of me says it would just make so much more sense to wait for next December. plus fantasyland would be all completed, etc. but his restaurant is one fo the few that is not busy in December. Most are opposite- dead in the summer and busy in the winter. what if he took some other offer and was back at a traditional place?

why am i getting all worked up about something that has like a 5% chance of happening?

I say if it works out that y'all can go this December, go. Even if you don't plan as much or see as much, it will still be fun to be in Disney. Plus, you never know what will happen for next year. A trip next year could always find its' way into the plans. :thumbsup2

i've been torn on the next trip- i REALLY want to go to Disneyland and see Cars Land. And next year is our whopping 5th anniversary. We got married in Coranado (San Diego) and i thought it would be fun to head there and visit Sea World as well at the same time. But I was having a hard time with the idea that i wouldn't see Disney World/ Fantasyland for 2-3 years if i made my next trip to Cali.

If we went to Cali for the 5% possible "Bonus" trip, then it wouldn't be as long until i went back to WDW. but i'm not really interested in Christmas at DL. This October trip would have been at DL except that they cancelled their food and wine this year and that was a main selling point for Chris. if only they had not, then it would be a possibliity of DL with Cars Land and then WDW with Fantasyland back to back. How awesome that would have been! but please don't think i'm complaining. i know that its a blessing to even be able to think about trips like these. but the decisions are hard sometimes!!

I'm late to the double digit dance. Congrats!! :cool1::cool1:

That would be awesome to get two trips in!! Whether it's to CA or FL, that's great!!

Sounds like you have some very important decisions to make.

Maybe you can work on the short term plans (Oct and Dec) and if things work out for next year Dec that's even better! Make your ADRs, you can always cancel them if this Dec doesn't pan out. But now's the time to make those plans. I don't know the cancellation policy on the candlelight processional, but definately look into it! I think if you have tickets for MVMCP and that doesn't pan out you are out of luck? I don't know, we haven't done the party in years and year.

Sorry, I’ve been missing for a while. I’ve been going through our photos and photo pass pictures and just in general trying to get settled back into real life since we got back. I hope to start my TR once the photo pass CD arrives.

Yay on double digits! I have no advice on the cake. Dd’s cakes always come from Wal-Mart. They have always had whatever she wanted.

Yay on the airfare. That is a great price. As you know I’ve toyed with the idea to try to sneak back down there before the end of the year (3rd birthday and 10th birthday looming for my two) even before we went last month. Amazingly I’m still toying with it. We had all the extras this trip so I’d be up for a no frills trip in the fall.

I figure we could just go with the flow, maybe have the QS dining plan and not do any extras (except maybe BBB again-awesome) and not have any ADRs except a dinner at Ohana. It was voted best meal on our trip. They loved all of the character meals, but dd declared Ohana had the best food. Ds declared by how he ate. :rotfl2:

I also toyed with the idea of another type of vacation or a cruise this fall if I could find a deal but was not encouraged when I looked at the flight prices. I am a little nervous about the cruise we have scheduled for next July. I told dd I have been thinking of moving it. It’s partly because of TS Debbie. We did fine with her touring Disney, but figured a similar situation would be bad on a cruise, but I didn’t hear about anyone saying their cruise was negatively impacted because of the storm. Dd told me don’t be silly, it will be fine. Got to love her.

It’s also partly because I just feel I can find a better deal. Thing is I don’t even know when my dd’s fall break will be yet and unless it is over Thanksgiving break again, we’d have to fly. I’d priced a stay at Pop because I’ve wanted to stay there and it wasn’t bad at all.

My sister invited us on a cruise over Thanksgiving, with our father and stepmother and brother. I missed the last one they all did because dd’s spring break was a week later and was looking at that if dd had Thanksgiving week off. It was leaving out of Tampa so figured we could drive down, but now she’s changed it. Not only did she pick a different date, but she’s changed it to one leaving out of Miami. No way we survive a drive that long.

Interesting conversation with your dh. I’ve toyed with December too, but worry about doing a trip past Thanksgiving week because of how it would affect Christmas. I sure would love to go to the MVMCP though and it isn’t done during Thanksgiving week. 2013 packages open up next week so I’m going to see what the prices are and go from there. I really want to see the completed Fantasy Land. Decisions decisions.

Hmmm....thats a dilemma. What about a Disney cruise? Is that a possibility...maybe with a one day add on to see MK at Christmas? Or maybe have him work this year and save the money for Christmas next year. That way more of Fantasyland will be done and who knows maybe you can even splurge on a deluxe.

That's such a tough week to travel. We are leaving Christmas Day and coming back on NY day...but leaving my son with his g-parents. It will be our 10th anniversary on NYE...so its a big one...otherwise no way would I leave my baby on Christmas. ;)
