Mickey and The Promise of Cheesy Dorito Fingers- Oct 2012 PTR Update 10/06

Our first full day will be spent at Epcot. This is a departure for us, as we usually start with Magic Kingdom. But we switched it for a few reasons- the most important being that it works best with the crowd calendars and it will allow us to be at the Magic Kingdom on days spread through out the trip.

Hopefully i will have our bags ready to go the night before. We will arrive around 8:30 for bag check. I think we we will make our first stop the Character Connection. If we can't start with Magic Kingdom, we might as well start with some magic!

And its a good thing that the characters are masculine friendly, because next we will get a good dose of Princess at Akershus.

If we didn't pick up a set of fastpasses for Soarin before breakfast, we will now. And if we did, we will grab a set for Test Track if it has reopened by now.

By the time breakfast is over, World Showcase will be opening. But we will head back to Future World.

We will head to see Crush, maybe play around the seas a bit. Depending on the timing, we will either head to use our fastpasses or play in innovations a bit.

We will have to stop for some yummy Vitamin Drink from Japan in Club Cool.

DSCN0487.jpg

I think once we are starting to get a bit hungry, we will head back to the World Showcase. Chris and I will pick out a few samples from the closest booths. We will also grab a nacho from the Cantina. i think we will take these snacks inside La Hacienda to enjoy the cool air and the atmosphere

day2images.jpg

Afterwards, we will continue Future World. Figment is a must do, along with playing afterwards. We will also hit Soarin, or Innovations or Test Track- whatever we didn't do earlier. and whatever our fastpasses tell us to. I want to at least play the Piggy Bank Game and Where's the Fire at innovations.

By this time i'm sure it will be well into the afternoon. We will head back into the World Showcase. I think that we will head straight to either see the Beast or Server Amusant in France, depending on what time it is.

day2amusant.jpg

Then, hopefully, we will have remembered to pick up a fastpass to do a couple rounds with Agent P.

day2Phineas-And-Ferb-Agent-Ps-World-Showcase-Adventure.jpg

I want to try to focus on one to two countries each trip, really explore them. The must do this trip will be Japan. We spent a lot of time here last trip, but now that Maya is taking Japanese in school, i think it will be more interesting to her.

day2JAPPAV_1_998.jpg

My other exploration choices would be Germany. Even if we don't spend much time in Germany, i'd like to wonder over to Arribas Brothers. I also wouldn't mind stopping for Snow White if she happens to be with the Prince or with Dopey.

day2GERPAV_1_998.jpg

Or Morocco. No real reason for this one, i just think the architecture is cool.

day2MORPAV_1_998.jpg

Of Course the main purpose for the return to World Showcase is to get our snack on. I can't wait for the booths to be announced!

we will snack to our heart's content, using most of our snack credits i'm sure. this will serve as dinner. if the kids aren't satisfied, we'll grab a CS meal for them to share somewhere along the way.

on our way out, we will hit Spaceship Earth- well, to be honest, i'll probably send the boys so i can have a little extra uninterrupted time in Mousegears. No trip to Epcot is complete without Mousegears!

day2SH_MG_998.jpg

I was reading on All Ears, and found some interesting ways to pass the time for the kids.

1) On every trip to Epcot, choose a special word. Have the children go to the cast members in every country and as for them to say it in their native language. Have the CM’s write the word in the autograph book and sign it

2) Take Pal Mickey (or something similar) to each country and find a perfect spot to photograph him visiting each country by himself

3) Pressed pennies from each country.

I think all those ideas sound great! Hopefully they will help us so that we can spend more time in the World Showcase!

I also saw something about the Genie showing up sometimes, and about a Japanese storyteller. That is old, right?

New to us:
Character Connection- we've seen all the characters there, but never in this particular setting.
Journey Into Imagination- i haven't done this since i was a kid, and no one else has ever done it
Eating inside La Hacienda
Breakfast at Akershus- we've only done dinner before
Agent P- we've done Kim possible and can't wait to try the new version!
Server Amusant- i think this will really be entertaining!
Beast- we have seen him but always passed due to line length.

I love this idea! So much fun for the kids, but so easy!

Your day at Epcot sounds great! :thumbsup2 I really hope we have time to try out the Agent P mission, too.

And those are some terrific ideas of things to do with kids in the World Showcase.

I like your plans for your EPCOT day. Sounds like a nice mix of activities. The kids going with our group go to an International school so I am looking forward to taking them to the International Showcase. I like the idea of having them come up with a word or phrase to learn. Definitely stealing that idea! :rolleyes1

me too! when we were swimming the other day, the kids were counting to three in different languages before jumping in. they thought it was so much fun. hopefully this idea would be fun for them too!

it will be a great day! i wish we had time to spend more then one Epcot day this trip. When you add in food and wine there is so much to do there!

There really is! I wish we had more Epcot time on our upcoming trip as well. But, I can make myself take away MK time for Epcot time just yet. :sad2:

i can't either. i'm not even sure my dh would go for it, let alone the kids.

think we must have posted at the same time!

what is an international school? sounds fun! steal away- like i said, i got it off allears myself.

Thanks, I think I’m going to try that activity with the special word when we do World Showcase. We don’t know yet if the Phineas and Ferb activity will be running when we are there. All reports only say “late June”, but I know the definition of late June can mean July. :confused3

We’re going to do the Kidcot fun stops and I have the passport I bought there last time that we didn’t use. I think I may make dd a flip book to color and get stamped where the CM can write the word. One of the designers had World Showcase Mickey Heads in her folder. There was one for each country designed to look like each country’s flag. the other side would be blank for her word, the signature and the stamp. I think she will like this over the Duffy bear stick. Depends on how my printer ink stands after I finish our shirts.

I think these ideas are fabulous! Will have to keep them in mind for our next family trip.

I don't know about the storyteller in Japan... but we did see the Genie in Morocco on our 2007 trip. I can't recall if he was there in 2010 or not.

Server Amusant is great! And I want to do Agent P, too... but that will probably have to wait until the next family trip, as well.

Your 1st full day looks great.
We will be going to Epcot on our 1st day too!
I have always wanted to have my picture made with Beach too, but also have always passed it up because of the line. I hope to get a picture with him this year!

yes, it is so hard to pinpoint the opening schedules at WDW lately. last year, the phineus and ferb meet and greet opened late, this year art of animation is ahead of schedule- and there are many more examples, as you know.

I'm thinking of using the food and wine passport this year- looks like in the past there has been plenty of room to add a word to the book. Maybe I'll have to come up with a food related phase (any ideas anyone?)

are any of the things you are printing picture size? if so, it may be cheaper to find a decent deal on some 4 X 6's than buy another cartridge.

it would be so nice to see the genie! glad to hear a good report about server too!

oh come on, you don't want to defeat dr doofinsmirtz with your dh?

there are a few people i have always missed due to long lines- Ariel with Eric, Beauty with Beast, Woody with Jessie, etc. i've decided i'm going to pay more attention to their schedule and knock at least one out each trip.

your kids are a bit older now. do you think they will appreciate Epcot more ?

Right before easter, i placed a disney store order. i also placed one last week when the extra percent of clearance was active.

I ended up giving the kids all the swim stuff in their easter basket - i thought about saving them, but then decided against it. by the time we get back, we wont be swimming or wearing sundresses. seems wasteful not to use them this summer.

Rapunzel Bathing Suit- this is big- she's sort of in between sizes here. i can make it work though. we will take this on the trip

shoppingrapunzel.jpg

princess swim shoes (ps- the bottom was worn out after one use)

mickey bathing suit- perfect! we will take this

shoppingmickey.jpg

cars swim shoes (ps- these are impossible to get on, a complete sweaty workout LOL)

each a pair of swim goggles- maya already lost hers

i also got-

2 pjs each- they needed them

rapunzel sundress- big, had to alter the straps to keep her ladybits from showing but the size down was too short.

shoppingrapunzel2.jpg

spiderman costume tee- big! adorable though!!

shoppingspiderman.jpg

shoppingspiderman2.jpg

i had also bought each of them a tee shirt. well, once again maya is in between sizes, but i can make it work.

shoppingisabella-1.jpg

james- well, last may he wore disney store size 4, so i got size 5/6- the next size up. its a nightgown on him. so i guess he actually needs the same size as a year ago, unless he grows a bunch in the next 4 months. i refuse to buy the same size when we already have plenty of 4's though so who knows what he will end up wearing

shoppingjaketee.jpg

i got this for james for the parks

shoppingmater.jpg

and i figured maya could wear these with most any princess costume for halloween

shoppingcinderellashoes-1.jpg

i got myself a tumbler for work!

shoppingtumbler-1.jpg

and a vinylmation- but i'll do a post on that another day

and i got maya a snow white nightgown for her birthday.

shoppingsnowwhitegown.jpg

and james this to put up for christmas

shoppingbuzzjetpack-1.jpg

i figure the last two things also give another low key option for costumes.

oh, and james is supposed to take a towel for rest time at school, i figured he needed a backup.

shoppingjaketowel.jpg

and i ordered a tee for chris, but its too big. maybe i can shrink it for him though.

so all my sizing was off, and of course i sat too long before opening the box. by the time i got to the store my choices were let them grow into the tees or return them. they are kids, they grow :goodvibes

on the same subject- they have jake and the neverland pirates toys at target now and they are adorable!!

Have you done the passports in Epcot yet? My kids love them. If you don't want to buy them, there are some in the DISigns thread you can save and print out. I did that for DD's birthday trip and she got a lot of compliments on her homemade version.

I feel you on the clothing sizes. You best believe they will grow. You may or may not have read about the downfall of the etsy dress on my PTR. :headache: Dd was so frustrated because every time I got an idea on how to adjust it, I had her try it on again. She was ready to tell me to cancel BBB.

The rescue dress came from ebay today. She cringed, but I promised her she'd only have to try it on once until the day of her appointment. It's a little big, (of course) but that will leave plenty of room for movement and a camisol underneath.

Everything in your post is really cute though. I looked at the swim collections on Disney store. I ended up getting Cars swim trunks from Target for ds. So I found dd a swimsuit there too...non Disney which surprised me. She didn't even pick a Disney towel. She wants Hello Kitty.

I plan to print the World Showcase ears in size 5x7 after I print the last 4 t-shirt transfers. The t-shirts are my strongest addiction, the journal and activity books and autograph books are finished. I found an old post on Epcot World Showcase with some really amazing pictures to use for a passport today I might print that would take less ink.

 at Maya losing her goggles. That would be Ariana. She begged me for the Ariel goggles. No wait, I know where they are-broken after one use. :headache:

What do you do to keep the Crocs from causing blisters? I got the kids some Airwalks which are similar and while she has worn them quite a bit since then with no issue, dd had a hot spot on the back of her foot the first day. Can you just put a band-aid there to prevent friction? These will mostly be extra shoes for them, but I don't want them wearing their sneakers every day.

I love all of your purchases! Very cute!

I'm like you - I'll by a size up for my son even if it's a little big. That Jake towel & shirt is soooo cute! I'll actually be near a Disney store this weekend (we don't have one by us) and I'm going to a Disney outlet in a few weeks, so I may have to look for some new Disney treasures. :yay:

And I'm so excited to know that Target has Jake toys now. :woohoo:

i have not tried Earl's breakfast, but i may have to think about that. i love breakfast! what is your favorite lunchtime sandwich there?

I usually end up getting the Earl's Club with the Earl's Grey Lemonade...I'm on :cloud9: just thinking about it. I'd like to try the Full Montagu next time though...sounds delicious!

We will have to stop for some yummy Vitamin Drink from Japan in Club Cool.

I LOVE that stuff  I've gone so far as to try and see how I can smuggle some out of the park before  I never actually tried it though...I wouldn't want to get banned from Disney :scared:

Sucks that the stuff you ordered wasn't exactly the right size, but hopefully they'll grow into them a little before your trip. :thumbsup2

I should definitely look on the DISigns board- great idea! i'm hoping that the fact that it is early in the trip will mean that the kids will enjoy it more, and that they will be up for participation.

my kids are really bad about throwing things randomly to "pick Up" rather than put things in their home. I've gotten to the point that when they are looking for something, i tell them they should have put it where it belongs rather than help them find it. I've just had enough of it:lmao:

we have not had problems with crocs rubbing blisters. i tend to buy them big- since they come in dual sizing a lot of the times. i don't buy on the small end so that can maximize the time that they fit. but i've been known to put preventative bandaids on her with some of her sandals.

target has a tick tock croc flashlight and it makes the noise and everything. i want it for me LOL

i wish i had an outlet to go to. we have one disney store about 20 minutes away by my moms house but i typically end up ordering online because otherwise the kids know what i bought.

Adorable purchases. I got my niece the Isabella shirt too. So cute.

she's my favorite! i think she's so funny!

oh, the lemonade sounds good and refreshing!

i can just see the headlines now... girl banned for stealing jugs of Japanese drink from Epcot. that would be so funny:rotfl2:
