Mickey and The Promise of Cheesy Dorito Fingers- Oct 2012 PTR Update 10/06

this may be really old news, but it isn't a subject i have a lot of knowledge on. I know that some of you guys deal with allergies and i saw this site that helps you find a restaurant based on its "allergy friendliness"

you input your allergy/ intolerance, click a location, etc and then it gives you some suggestions.

and... they even have a WDW page!

right now, the dwarfs are my top character must do for the party. oh my goodness i cant wait!

Make sure you line up EARLY! Last time we lined up before 6:15 and were still 10th or so in line! I sent everyone else on rides while we waited though, and no one seemed to have an issue with it.

definitely have to look at it closer. i heard recently that they had gone back to regular rope drop at DHS- but then i heard it was just because of some group they had there.

I love the show revenge. its horribly dramatic and soap-ish and i can't get enough. its set in the hamptons. a young woman moves in to a house next door to a high society family. you find out that the family framed the girl's dad for a terrorist act years ago, ultimately leading to his death. no one knows who the girl is, and she is there to get revenge on each and every person who played a part in the whole mess. that's a very simplified version, but i'm trying to be spoiler free.

so what is your summer show? this isn't the one i was referring to but i also like Covert Affairs- Augie is eye candy!

They had staggered when we were there in March (but things can change daily at any given time). I hadn't heard anything about them going back to their standard RD -- but the staggered had been given great reviews. :confused3

I hadn't heard of the series Revenge. It doesn't sound my style, though. Sounds a bit ... Dexter-ish. But if you love it, that's all that matters! I don't have many series I watch, but I have lots of reality shows. :lmao:

I haven't heard of Covert Affairs either. I watch a series on HBO in the summer ... it's very adult (and can be offensive) with initials of T.B. I read the books, so I got hooked on the series. Well, I've not read all of the books; I think I'm missing the last two books that have been published. Currently my DVR is flooded with reality shows from Food Network. :lmao: But I do enjoy a few other reality shows (The Voice, Love in the Wild, ANTM). There's a few series on Showtime and HBO I enjoy (GoT, Big C, T.B.), but that's about it. The rest of my DVR is P&F, Good Luck Charlie, some "other" station's tweenage programs, and a few for DH. :rotfl2:

Team Jake and Team Matty- I didn't think anyone would know what this is. Its a tv show on MTV called Awkward. Its about this girl in high school who is always put in horrible situations by the school bully, whose mom is trying to relive her high school years through her, etc. She starts coming into her own though. Its bad enough to watch and hope that it really is exaggerated, because i cringe at the idea of my kids being that "grown Up" in high school. its probably aimed at 15-22 year old crowd, but i dont care. maybe i'm just trying to pretend i can still identify with them in an effort to forget i'm getting old :lmao:

I keep forgetting that MTV exists. The last time I watched MTV, they still played mostly music videos ... and the shows I watched were Ren & Stimpy and Beavis & "that-other-guy". :lmao: Oh, I think I showed my age .... :lmao:

That allergy site is really neat :thumbsup2 I don't have any severe allergies, just sensitivities. For example, if I eat peanuts or peanut butter I get a migraine, I don't have a true allergic reaction.

Also, I  EoS!!! Even when we're not going to Disney but we're in the Orlando area, we make it a point to go to DTD just to eat there. And when we are in Disney, we definitely eat there at least once. I've never had something I didn't like from there. Have you tried their breakfast sandwiches? They are fantastic, and pretty cheap too! :cool1:

I've been looking at pictures that my dad took on my trip last year, and he's got a bunch from T-Rex. I have to admit, looking at them is making me want to go, even though I don't think I'd be a fan of the loud atmosphere.

Have you given any more thought on how you're you might reveal the surprise? pixiedust:

i thought the allergy site was pretty cool too!

i have not tried Earl's breakfast, but i may have to think about that. i love breakfast! what is your favorite lunchtime sandwich there?

i'm not crazy about the idea of the noise either, but i know that James will love it!

i *think* that the rope drop thing was for some event.

i can't tell you how many times i've told my kids that MTV used to play music videos. i never thought i'd be as young as i am while telling back in the stories :lmao:

i have not seen Dexter- its more serial killer right? there have been a couple of deaths in Revenge, but most of the revenge is more crafty. things like getting the mistress of the family values Senator to show up at his event, effectively ruining his career because he was one of those responsible for her father going to jail/ her father's death.

i have too many shows i like- i watch Revenge, How i Met Your Mother, Grey's Anatomy, Parenthood. My summer shows are Awkward and Covert Affairs. I watch things like kitchen nightmares, hell's kitchen, food network star or random horrible reality tv here and there as well.

i think i'm the only one under 50 in my family who doesn't watch T.B.

thanks for the reminder. they were on my list for our last trip, but we didn't get there as early as i wanted. dd was dressed as Ariel, and we had to get the mermaid meet and greet done before Ariel left for the day. by the time we were finished the line for the dwarfs was more than anyone was willing to wait.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

We had a birthday party, a swimming barbeque, and a graduation party. I also was able to enjoy a nice rare day with Chris and I both off. Maya set my heart racing a few times because for some reason she has decided that all jumping in should be towards the wall. once she was maybe an inch away from knocking herself out cold. i had a pink eye scare, but it cleared up the next day so now i'm thinking it was just allergies.

what about you? anything special this weekend?

Sounds like you had a busy but fun weekend.

My dad & stepmom came in to visit from Georgia. So, I spent Saturday & Sunday cleaning, cooking & entertaining. Monday was a quiet day with just the 3 of us which I was very thankful to have. We took Reid to see the Avengers since he is obsessed with superheroes. We all loved it!

We really didn’t do anything. Dd’s last day of school was Thursday, and her sitter graduated that night, so we went to that and I worked from home on Friday as I certainly wasn’t going to ask her to babysit the day after she graduated. We are so proud. Her parents are my children’s Godparents. She’s been my sitter since she was old enough, also accompanied us on a vacation during hers and dd’s spring break in 2011. She was the salutatorian of the class.

So we stayed in and ordered pizza delivered and I worked all day Friday off and on while taking care of them. Saturday we also stayed in. I was surprised dd did not want to go out, but it also rained a bit in the afternoon both Saturday and Sunday. We did go out Saturday afternoon just to do some shopping regular and for the trip and so dd could spend one of her Target gift cards that was burning a hole in my purse. We went to church on Sunday like always. On Monday we stayed in and watched Nick all day and read and played. Bad I know but I ordered pizza again. I also worked on my PTR and did some online shopping for the trip.

I was just trying to rest and think about our future more and get some thoughts down on paper. This will be a pivotal summer for my daughter with the diagnosis and I spent a lot of time thinking about achieving the right rest, play, learn balance for her. Still recovering from working a month’s worth of 15 hour days. Plus I knew the more I was out, the more money I’d spend and with our trip so close, I’m trying not to spend any more than I have to right now. I spent a lot of time thinking while ds napped each day of the weekend. I was kind of heavy hearted on Monday. I was thinking a lot about dh who was retired army, but on my mind a lot were the soldiers that helped bury him, particularly the one that gave me the flag. I will never forget his face. I was hoping they had a good weekend.

So ready for this trip.

Sounds like a nice weekend! We didn't do much (other than the outlet - and the $1.49 Cars tees at the Disney Store) :) Lots of pool time for DS. DH took him to our neighborhood pool twice and we went to a classmate's pool on Monday. As we said...we took the sexy out of the 28th floor pool deck with 4-5 year old little boys! LOL!

I've been working on DS's photo book for this year. So far I'm still stuck working on our trip at Christmas. My goal was to try and keep up with the year but I seem to get further and further behind. I need to work on it though since I need to be finished when we head to Disney for his birthday in Oct!! Because then I'll have a new Disney book to do and start his 6yo book. And one of these days I'll go back and work on his 1 and 2 year old books. Although I might just combine those into 1 book. The 3 yo book is much thinner than the 4yo one and so far I'm already at 35 pages on 5yo and not even through with Christmas yet!

i dont' even want to talk about how far behind i am on my children's scrapbooks. lets just say i know what i will be doing in retirement:rotfl2: and that my ds probably thinks i dont like him as much as dd.

I'm extremely jealous of the tees. that was such a great deal!

I don't blame you for wanting to have a quiet weekend. you had a lot on your mind lately. and personally, i could probably eat pizza a couple times a week with no problems. i wish there were more places that delivered food. well, maybe that's not a great thing. there are way too many days that i don't feel like cooking but i talk myself into it because it sounds easier than loading up the kids to go somewhere. if they brought it too me... i'm sure you guys will get the balance right for your dd. i'm happy the school is working with you to get the right learning situations for her.

that sounds fun! how was the movie? was it okay for Reid? i can't remember- he's 4 or 5 right?

The movie is great! Reid is 4 & he loves superheroes! He knows their superhero names & their "real" names. He loved it. Probably the only bad thing with him is that the movie is 2 1/2 hours. :sad2: So, we did have 3 bathroom trips but (thankfully) they were quick. The only "bad" stuff I noticed in the movie were a few bad words (d***, p****d) but I don't think there were any more than 5. I would say every kid in the theatre was under 9.

that's great! James is loving superheroes right now also! i'm not sure he would last for that long in the theater, but i'll definitely have to rent it. thanks for the review!

You're welcome! Definitely worth renting! Also...do y'all get the Hub channel? If so, there's a show called Superhero Squad that is geared towards younger boys that is cute. Reid is obsessed with this show! And it's with Marvel superheroes (Cpt. America, IronMan, Hulk, etc).

We have the basic cable package available here. About a year and a half ago, they made us get these boxes. When we did that, we suddenly had way more channels. We were like great, this upgrade was completely worth it! Then when Disney Junior started we got that too.
Well, maybe two weeks ago we stopped getting Disney Junior, Hub, and a whole slew of channels. we now have less than we we did in the beginning. So long story just to say that at this point we dont have Hub:lmao:

Awww man, that's terrible that they did that. We have DirecTV. I love them but have been very upset that they're not adding the Disney Junior channel.

Don't feel bad, I have cable and they aren't adding the Disney Jr channel to our area either.

It seems like there are very few providers that have added to just a few of their areas. :confused3

I wish they had not given it to me at all. i am usually gone when it is on in the mornings. so i didn't know what i was missing. it was definitely my channel of choice for the few weeks that we had it.

if it comes available for a reasonable price, you should get it! i wish you could just pick and choose and pay per channel. there are so many we never watch.

Yeah, at least we're home to watch the morning block of it on regular Disney. And we have Disney Channel west, so I can put it on there to get the early shows we miss.

That's a great idea about only paying for the channels you want. Of course, the providers would lose money so that'll never happen. It's ridiculous how much it is for TV these days. :sad2:

Love the Characterpalooza update! We didn't get a chance to go to it on our last trip. But, we did it on Reid's 1st trip in Dec 2010 and it was great! I cancelled our F! package at Mama Melrose this year so that I can make sure we go to it.
