How easy is it to get from MGM over to The Boardwalk?

We are thinking of lunch at Big River Grille after a morning at MGM on our last day.

OR

If you have any suggestions for lunch after a morning at Boardwalk??None of the MGM restaurants really spike our interest. And we are on the silver plan so it needs to be somewhere sit-down that we can get our wish value at ;-)

And, we'll have to be back at WL by 3:30 in order to get back to the airport.

Thanks!

The boat takes about 20 minutes, or you can walk along the path in about 12 minutes. Any way you choose, it is very easy.

I found it to be very easy. I either walked or took the boat.

The boat usually took longer than walking. It's a slow boat that makes stops at Swan/Dolphin and Beach Club before Boardwalk.

The walk is about 15 minutes and the boat is about 30 minutes.

MGM to BW is a very pleasant :boat: boat ride, stopping at the Swan/ Dolphin and BC/YC beforehand. You can also walk it in roughly 15 mins (and it's good to walk off those Silver Plan meals ;) ). Big River is pretty decent, better for lunch than for dinner, but especially great for beer. Another option at the BW is Sppodles if they are open for lunch. Then again, once you're at the BW, you're nearly to EPCOT's World Showcase with LOTS of other great dining options.

Enjoy!

Spoodles would be a good choice except that it is no longer open for lunch. I am not a big fan of the Grille. Tight quarters and tortilla chips instead of fries. I would suggest ESPN Club especially if you have boys. Large portions and a fun atmosphere.
Lots of burgers, hot dogs, wings, nachos, chicken sandwiches. Make sure you check out the bathrooms (TV monitors everywhere!)
Walking is much quicker than the boat. The Boardwalk is the final stop before Epcot. You can walk it in about 15 minutes.

Then after leaving the Boardwalk, you either can go back to the Studios and take a bus to Wilderness Lodge or walk through Epcot and take the monorail to TTC, then take a boat or bus to Wilderness Lodge.

Don't plan to spend the morning on the Boardwalk - there's literally nothing to do except walk through the shops or eat. None of the carts /entertainment / special activities are open in the mornings.

You'll have more fun at MGM and as already posted, it's a quick stroll to get to the BW area for lunch. You can easily see what there is to see on the Boardwalk after lunch before you return to the WL.

Best wishes -

It is a very nice walk. If you want to take the boat, and make it a shorter ride, you can get off at the Swan/Dolphin and walk across the bridge to the BW, that's what we always do.

I second the ESPN club, good food, big portions, nice atmosphere. We ate there a few times on our last trip.

I've heard this before but we didn't try it yet...I've also heard about doing that for the bus too...that Boardwalk is the last stop so sometimes on the way to MK or AK you could have to wait possibly for another bus if the first one is full so some people suggested going over to Swan/Dolphin for that purpose too...I haven't done that either...have you?

Yes, we have also gotten off at the Swan/Dolphin from the Bus too. The BW is the last stop on the bus route if it's stopping at all the Epcot resorts. It's a slightly longer walk back, then from the boat dock (the bus drops off in the front, and you have to walk around to the back), but when the busses are crowded (or you get motion sickness LOL) I'd rather get off as soon as possible. I still find it a nice brief walk over the bridge back to the BW.

We do not walk to the S/D to get on though, I have never had a problem getting on the busses at the BW. We did walk over there to get on the boat though, as it was faster, since it skips the YC dock that way.
