Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

Mornin' y'all! :surfweb:

This cold has been kicking my butt  , so I haven't been around much. Seems like a lot has been going on around here- I'll have to catch up! :moped:

:welcome: aesalsa!

Mary- So glad your mom is doing better!

Kathy- I'm SO sorry that happened to your parents' house! People are just so disgusting. I'm glad the insurance is paying up.

Sheryl- Hope all went well yesterday. And unfortunately Sienna didn't get to see her Super Tomato daddy since she started feeling bad that day- he emailed me the pictures (brave, brave man!)

Tricia II- So you weren't the tomato squeezer, huh? :rotfl2: I'll have to warn DH about you! ;) :rotfl:

Jenny- I'm curious too- did Jack get on the bus?

Lori- LOVE the hair! It looks so good! It's inspiring me to make a hair appt- I need to do something with it before our trip.

Stephanie- Hope everything is ok with the car!

Okay, I hope I didn't miss anyone, and if so, my apologies! :flower3:

Oh, I got my B-day present early- DH added two days to our trip at POR! :cool1: I actually love split stays, so this is great! So now we'll be at POR two nights and CBR seven nights- 9 nights total, wow!! :cool1:

So $160 later it was just the battery  Dh is so mad, if we knew it was just the battery he could have changed that himself, but in order to check the altinator they had to put in the new battery first

So then my mom and Meme(her mom) both told me "Well at least you weren't on the bridge when the car died..." Oh my! Someone was really looking out for me this week!

Oh and we are going to WDW the week of Mardi Gras Feb 20th-Feb 28th. Dh will get off of work on Thurday and we will leave at like 2-3 AM. He has Fridays-Sunday off, they give him off on Lundi Gras and Mardi Gras, and he will take a vacation day Wed, Thursday, and that Friday(they work that Friday to make up for Lundi Gras). He might take the following Monday off as well depending on how we feel when we get home Sunday. So going this week he can take 4 vacation days, he gets a holiday, and we get a longer vacation.

8 nights at Pop, 7 days in the park. The tentative plan is 2 days MK, 2 days EPCOT, 1 1/2 DS, 1 1/2 AK, Check in night and check out morning in DTD. I know it is a lot but we feel confident that since we worked there and we willing to take Aiden back to the hotel if needed, that this busy lineup should be ok. I also plan that if it does seem too much I am just going to add the no expiration and save the left over days for the next trip.

I am just so happy that this trip is even possible for us. After K it seemed like we were spiraling out of control and it has taken us these 3 years to pay off our debts. Dh is doing so well at his job and now I am working pt. This trip is even more special because DH is as excited as I am! When I took him for our honeymoon(his first trip) he thought it was going to be so stupid, just another amusement park...lol.

Well off to purchase dance shoes and go to Chuck E Cheese's...then to the Ortho(finally) and then to work...

Oh, I would be interested in hearing about this! cajunmommy, I've wanted to ask for a long time....are you the cajunmommy who posted on RADP a long time ago and had a website about traveling to WDW with kids? I've been wondering.

This is what I remember from the ad.....it's @ 4th St. & Sala, hours are supposed to be 9-1 (don't remember if it's daily or couple of days a week). It's billed as a Farmers & Fisheries market (sounds like fresh shrimp!) Soft opening in late August, but a grand opening fest is scheduled for Sep 19th?20th? something like that.

Oh, and it must be a different cajunmommy. I'm not tech savvy enough to have my own website.;)

Lori - Love the new do! How long did it take you to grow to that length? Hmm... I'd have to measure, but I doubt my longest layers are 10". Even stretching out my waves, I bet I'm more like 8". I think I'm going to ask my hairdresser to see if I'm close, & I just might put off my cut.

Sheryl - hope the morning after is finding you feeling better.

Stephanie - glad it was only the battery. I thought something was draining my car's battery as it would stay charged for a day but not 2 days. It turned out to be the battery, and the car isn't even 3 years old. I thought batteries should last longer than that.

I've had AAA for some time, but I was one day past the renewal deadline when I lost my keys. I had flown back to N.O. from Dallas (which is where I guess my keys got lost). I called AAA and renewed by phone, and then 5 minutes later called for a service call. I'm so glad that I thought to call and pay first as it ended up being a tow to the dealership for a new key - expensive.

Mary - so glad to hear that your mother is doing so well. She really will end up better than before the surgery. It just takes a little time to get some stamina back.

Lori - your haircut is adorable! I've been letting mine grow for a year after that whackjob who was high as a kite (took me until the end of the haircut to pickup on that) cut my hair practically to my scalp.

Sheryl - hope this is really going to work for you.

Kathy - hope all continues to go well with getting the house fixed back up. I am still so hurt and angry for you about this.

Okay Lorie - I'm off to squeeze the produce at Whole Foods.

Tricia II

So I'm looking at the news, and I see something about a Tropical Storm Fay...:scared1: Oh please, I sure hope this turns out to be nothing....:sad2:

Kathy- Sienna is doing much better, except for the gross runny nose. DH is also better (he got sick too). But of course, the cold is just sticking around for me- it seems to like my body  .

Stephanie- Glad it was just the battery! Your trip sounds great! Our WDW schedule is similar to yours- 3 days at MK, 2 at Epcot, 1 at DS, 1 at AK, and 1 at Typhoon Lagoon/DTD. Since we are staying so many days, some of these days will probably be half days so we can relax a bit. I found that Sienna would get overwhelmed and hit the wall pretty easily, so I'd rather stay more days and take our time rather than deal with an uber cranky toddler. :scared:

Lorie - I've been watching Fay too, right now looks like we won't be affected, but let's keep an eye on it over the weekend. Glad to hear you guys are all feeling better.:thumbsup2

Sheryl - I hope you're feeling OK, please check in.

Don't remember who was looking for info on the Westwego Farmers Market - I googled it earlier and got lots of links.

Morning ladies....sorry I have been incognito. I've been really busy with work and getting DD ready for school, just one more week before school starts!

Lorie, hope you are all feeling better today.

Mrskreamer-glad the car thing was minor though!!! Your trip looks wonderful and sounds like a wonderful well deserved celebration!! Congrats on paying off debt. I can't wait to get there, but it will be a while.;)

cajunmommy- wait, wait.... until it grows out enough for you to be happy afterward. I was anxious last time to cut it off with Ashton. It was sooooo short after and I really hated it. It took 3 years for the full amount of 10 inches from 'above the nape of my neck' short! Ashton is waiting long enough for hers to be shoulder length before she cuts it. So it will probably be almost waist length before she cuts it off!!

We are in deep trouble this year if the defense hasn't improved, which it looks like they haven't.:sad2:

My poor baby puppy has an abcess where his "fixin'" was done 4 months ago!!!
He made himself bleed an hour after the vet closed, of course! Cost us $120 for the emergency vet, even though it wasn't emergency(I need an after hours vet clinic, like they have for humans), but IS sorta' -due to me being gone on Monday morning for 4 days. He is on antibiotics and has an e-collar. He cannot eat with it on.

Uggh, murphy's law-trying to do one thing and another happens!!!

Lori

Hey Y'all,

I'm doing alright. Thanks for everyone's prayers & well wishes!

Thurs & Friday, I was hurting a lot & doped up. Yesterday I woke up not numb & pain free. Felt good enough to get to the Gretna Market just before the rain came down, we headed to Westwego after, but the rain didn't let up, so we couldn't get out. Unfortunately pain-free didn't last, by the end of the day I felt like my old self. This morning I had a little less pain but the numbness was there. But I'm still holding out hope, the steroids should just start kicking in today, so it's a wait & see.

Lori, Love your new haircut!! Looks great! Sorry about your puppy, things like that always happen at the worst times.

Lorie, Sorry you & Sienna are still feeling funky. Hope y'all get well soon!

Kristina, Sorry about the car, but glad you got it going!

Erika, Thanks for the well wishes! I'm Sheryl, I live in Marrero, married Mom of one 26yo married DD. I'm a SAHNana for my little niece Alexis 5 & a Mary Kay Consultant. (To save you from reading back, I have degenerative disc disease, several herniated disc & other back /neck issues that have gotten really bad lately. My DH Bob had muscular dystrophy so that sort of complicates my issues. I had an epidural steroid injection this week & am hoping that will help or I'll be having surgery soon.)

I hope the playgroup was fun! We were scouting out lots in your neighborhood for a few months. Lucky you, living on the highest elevation on the West Bank! There were a few lots for sale off Wiegand (Hidden Lane). But we just couldn't make a decision & I started feeling worse & we just put it out of our mind. That is until we get a storm out there, like now!

Kathy, I hope y'all are getting the house cleaned up & the sale goes through.

Our defense really didn't look very good. :sad2: But it's just pre-season right?!;)

He is handling the collar better than we could have hoped for-he is such a trooper!! I really think I could keep him home for the 4 full days, but I am worried without supervision at least every 4-6 hours, which he will not have if we let him stay home. My friend is coming to feed, play and let them out 2x per day. I think he could get himself into trouble if we kept him home. SOO, another wonderful friends hubby is coming to get Snickers tomorrow morning to bring him to our vet for boarding and they can keep a closer eye on him. I was afraid if we didn't get him checked out befpore we left, that he would have ripped himself apart by the time we got home. He was knawing the heck out of it.
So Hershey will either be elated for having peace in his life or be REALLY lonely. We've had Snickers since after our Feb. WDW trip and Hershey was used to being top dog!

My DH is landing in Columbus as I type and I leave at 8:30-ish tomorrow. I was supposed to spend the night at my MIL's in Metairie with my kiddos, but since Snickers is in his "spot" right now, I decided to stay so the time he is hear without anyone is much less! So we'll be up with before the birds!!! I need to be at the airport by 7am-ish!

I am nervous about this trip-don't know why. I really need some time for myself and with DH, but hate leaving the kids-wish they were coming for the ride!

Lori

I need some help with my trip planning...

So the Feb 09 hours will not be out by next sunday(my 180 window for ADR). So do I go by last year's Mardi Gras week(2/2/08-2/8/08) or the actual week I am going (2/22/08-2/28/08) ugh...I am so confused...

After his first day of college Kyle can't stop talking about how gorgeous the girls are. Remember this is a young man who hasn't gone to school with girls since 7th grade....:rolleyes1 They obviously put the baseball boys in all morning classes together and they "girl watched" in-between classes.:rotfl:
