Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

Hi ya'll! I'm baaaaaaaack!

My trip home to NOLA was great. I was only there from Wednesday to Sunday so I had to cram a lot in. I went dress shopping with my Mom cause my brother is getting married in June. She found something very pretty so shopping was a success. Here is what we ate:

roast beef po' boys at a neighborhood restaurant Come Back Inn
boiled crawfish at home
oyster po' boys at Bozo's
chargrilled oysters and 1/2 stuffed lobster at Drago's
catfish at Middendorf's

:woohoo: :goodvibes

Glad to hear your trip was great!!:goodvibes and that your Mom find a nice dress! That is always a tough task. But oysters at Bozo's and Drago's!! and Middendorf's Catfish! Weeell, you really lived it up didn't you!!! I'm so jealous, it's almost midnight and you have me craving Middendorf's crispy thin catfish!

Good Morning.

Morning NOLA!

I know Middendorf's has new owners but it is still a good one! :goodvibes
My Mom really likes it there. In a recent issue of the NOLA Magazine, they were voted (I forget the exact title) Best Meal Worth the Drive and had a write-up about the new owners. We always each get a small thin catfish and were just commenting that for $10.00 it is a great deal. It seemed like the portion was bigger than usual & with fries and coleslaw you can't beat it. (I think the big portion was $12.75.) Plus we got onion rings and 1 person got the turtle soup. I had never tasted that before but it was good.

Hi ya'll! I'm baaaaaaaack!

:yay: Sounds like you had a great time!:goodvibes

Good morning NOLA! Looks like we'll be changing the dates of our trip. Johnny's work schedule got changed a bit, looks like we'll be pushing it back a month, the good news is we'll get to meet Sheryl &Bob!!:thumbsup2

That sounds like fun Kathy. I met a DISer on our February trip. I had my eyes peeled for Lori because I've seen lots of pictures of her but never did spot her.

It is so much fun when you can meet someone you feel like you already know. I got to meet lucas last year along with another DISer from the WFD thread.:goodvibes

Morning everyone!

Kathy- How cool is it that y'all will be able to meet up with Sheryl & Bob for F&W?! Nothing like teaming up with two pros to show you the ropes!

Bleacher-butt season has officially begun. DS9 starts kid-pitch practice Saturday, and DS7's practices start next week. No more t-ball!

Kathy- How's Kyle's back doing? Good enough to play this weekend? I hope he's been able to rest & recuperate. I can't believe you had "concerned" parents calling the house to check on him! On 2nd thought, I can....I know a few who would do the same thing.

What can y'all tell me about Zea? We finally landed one in Baton Rouge, and I've been wondering if it's worth checking out. Family friendly? Any favorites? I know they've been around NOLA for a while, but I've never had the opportunity to dine at one. I know they're associated with the same people that did Semolinas, so I figure it must be OK. LOVED Semolina's when it 1st opened!

Morning Y'all,

Yes October is going to be fun! Meeting Kathy definitely won't be like meeting someone for the 1st time! I already consider Kathy an old friend!!! :goodvibes

Kathy, We will have to decide if we want to do a meal together, a lunchtime food & wine pairing together would be fun. Or just cruise the booths, like the crazy Nola girls did last year. Either way it'll be great!

Jenny, Lorie & Lori/BP all mentioned the possibility of going around that time too. So maybe we'll end up with another NOLA DIS-meet!

Speaking of meets, Are we still planning to get together in April? was that the 12th we had decided on?

Lucas, I think the last time we were at Middendorf's the new owners had already taken over. That's fine with me, as long as they don't mess with that thin crispy catfish!:goodvibes

It's pretty outside today, y'all have a good one!

You have BIG boys now! No more t-ball! It's just too fast isn't it!

Zea's is good! DUCK EMPANADAS! are yummo! It is definitely casual & family friendly. I know the rotisserie stuff is thier specialty, but we had the most awesome pan-seared rainbow trout at DH's Christmas party they had there. Oh & the GRITS! Get the grits!!!

:yay: Big-kid ball!!!!!! I remember the idea of kid-pitch was frightening to me.:lmao:

Kyle's back is better, we'll find out today when he's scheduled to pitch. He rested through Tuesday and got back in the bullpen for just a few minutes yesterday.:sad2:

The parent phone calls started again last night.......:headache:

Sheryl, you're the veteran, whatever you suggest will be fine with me. We're hoping to do a PFTS, after that anything will be just fine with us, we're easy.:goodvibes

I so hope we can have a NOLA meet, how fun!!!!!

Kathy, I can't believe those parents are calling again! I'd really want to tell them off!

Aww, now I'm bummed that we won't be there on a Saturday night for the PFTS!!! That would have been so much fun together! BUT, for you guys it might actually work better. Because of Bob being in the WC & unable to eat/drink & drive, we had to keep going back to the table. I think if you're moving around, you would get to try more things & chat more with the chefs & sommeliers. Although after seeing Brenda's pics, we sure did get to a lot of food! And I know we drank more than she said her & Jay did! (I really think they tried more than she remembers though! ;) )

OMG!! Ecole Bilingue's Fete Francaise is this Saturday! We went last year & this little school's fest has the best food ever! Just a few of the booths this year: Cochon, La Boulangerie, La Crepe Nanou, LA PROVENCE!!, GALATOIRE'S, HERBSAINT, Jamila's, ST JAMES CHEESE CO!!!! :cool1:

I sure hope there isn't something we have to do on Saturday that I've forgotten... I soo want to go!

Hi - I've been in Little Rock for about 2 weeks. It is so boring here that there is not much to write about.

I lost the hard drive on my computer. I was trying to download a video that my nephew made (he does digital editing for TV commercials like for Toyota). I don't know what happened, but it totally corrupted the hard drive.

I had to order a new install disk (my original is probably in New Orleans) and reformat the entire hard drive. I have a backup (again in New Orleans) but I am going to have to reinstall all of the software. Yuck.

We had 3 inches of snow here 2 days ago. The streets were totally clear though - and it melted in about 4 hours.

We didn't try them last year! I'm not a big fan of mussels. If we get to go Saturday, I will have to give them a try! We didn't get there until around 2:30 or 3, I think & a lot of the booths were already sold out. But everything we tried was awesome!

Okay, here are some pics of DD's bedroom (she has officially moved in :sad1: )

I had to take a closeup of the window because I worked a long time on those, getting them to work properly and finding the proper hardware for them was a pain in the butt!!

I also have some pics of the new pond (while I'm at it :rotfl2: )

Sienna checking out her new goldfish- check out that crazy hair on her! I was having difficulty with it on that day. :rotfl:

Ms Marigny, love the pics - how pretty! I really like the mirror on the dresser. :goodvibes
