Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

Hey ya'll! I hope you are trying to keep dry! Rick's at work and I'm playing in the business center at the hotel- it's 16 degrees here in loverly MI!:rotfl2:

I'm dying for a diet coke but all they have here is pepsi and it's too freakin' cold to walk over to the gas station to get one.:rotfl:

So much for my pity party..... we think (if we can get the points) we'll be in WDW for the "annual" NOLA gals F&WF meet! :lmao:

I convinced Rick that we could buy DVC points and stay at AKL concierge for about what we'd pay for accomodations otherwise. Anyone heard of Swan/Dolphin limiting rooms to no more than 2 adults? Rick read it somewhere but now I can't find it- I want to read it- cause that's just crazy talk!:confused3 If you have 2 queen beds you should be able to put 4 persons in there no matter how old they are.

Ah well, off to search.

Hope ya'll are feeling better.

Hi ya'll! :wave2:

I'll be in NOLA next week! Just a quick trip Wed-Sun to visit my family. Dh is staying home with the dog (she just turned 15 1/2!!). And then my brother is getting married in June so "I'll be back!"

Me either! (But I guess I'm hooked.)
Tonight it's Survivor and then VH1's Celebrity Rehab. That's a double :sad2: :sad2:

:rotfl:

Got any plans on where ya gonna eat?

Tonight I've got Survivor, Celebrity Apprentice and American Idol! I need a life......

I need you to teach me all this stuff.

My plans for tonight is checking homework and helpind dd study for Friday test. I will also be watching LOST!

Hey Y'all,

I'm baaack! We got in late Tuesday night. Both of us were totally exhausted. We thought it was from pushing ourselves on the trip, but now we're both sniffling & coughing too. Bob went back to work today, but he's really not feeling well. Thank goodness I didn't have to pick Alexis from school yesterday or have her this morning as planned. Her Daddy hurt his back at work, so he will be off work for another few days. Bad for him, but saved me!

Our trip was good. We had great weather for almost the whole trip, just a bit of rain on Monday. We did MGM that day, so didn't bother us much. The temps were perfect! The race was great, but gosh the Daytona track is huge & getting 200,000 people in & out of there was crazy! Getting around inside the track was difficult too. Lots of walking that gave Mom & me a hard time. It was a great experience but not something I'd want to do every year.

Saratoga Springs was nice, but I wouldn't want to stay there without a car. It's very spread out. We had some great food & Mom enjoyed the trip a lot! Raglan Road's food was awesome! A real surprise! Jiko was great as usual too! I'll post some pics for y'all later!

I expected to come home to a mess & not being able to use the bedroom. But my DDC, Mario had the room totally finished when we came home. He even made the bed & dusted the room!!!!! How cool is that!

Sheryl

Welcome back Sheryl!!!!!! Glad to hear you had a great time and how sweet is Mario....:lovestruc .

Can't wait to hear more and see your pics, hope you & Bob aren't getting the nasty bug that's going around.

I'm leaving tomorow morning for Houston for the baseball tournament so I'll be MIA for a few days.

Sheryl- So glad you're back and had a good time! Can't wait for pics! Sorry y'all aren't feeling well. And that is awesome that Mario did such a good job while y'all were gone- he's definitely a keeper!

Kathy- I hope you stay well and have a great trip this weekend!

Did anyone else get an email from Disney asking you to complete a survey? I got one yesterday, and the email began with "Thank you for choosing Disney for your upcoming trip...." Well, I freaked out because I certainly didn't book a trip, so I then thought that maybe DH did as a surprise. Then I thought that there's no way he would book a trip on his own- as much as he likes going, I really don't think he would just call up Disney and book anything. So I asked him, and he said "Are you kidding? I'm way too intimidated by the planning queen to book a trip on my own." So my suspicions were correct, no trip. :guilty: Dang Disney, they really had me going there for a minute! The survey was asking about our experience last trip, not sure why they began the email the way they did...

Welcome back, shovan!!

Got any plans on where ya gonna eat?

Definitely Drago's and Bozo's. :)

I'm having a hard time deciding what to pack. The Weather Channel says it is gonna be cool next week. :confused3

I need you to teach me all this stuff.

Well, actually we're renting points from a friend I hope. They bought DVC and then moved to Orlando. All my points for the year are tied up with Christmas.

But at $10 a point and we need 80 points that's $800 for a concierge room for the trip (4 nights)

Me too. I don't have DVC but am interested in learning how to rent points? Is that possible?

Well, I got in to an accident today-we a re all okay, just terribly depressed now. If it ain't one thing it is another. DH coming hom a bit early from NYC. The kids are fine(thanks to having a minivan!!)-I have a back ache and headache. I got the ticket. I was turning into a parking lot and had to cross over whn this guy came out of no where-at least i did not see him-I saw him last screeching on his breaks to avoid hitting me. I guess this one is my fault and I am soo bummed. I was, and I am saying this hesitantly, on the phone-talking to DH for the first time today. I am a very careful driver and truly did not see him coming. I thought he was going really fast and must have misjudged. I usually don't take chances either though-I am truly confused about the actual wreck and so down about this. Since my DH was on the phone with me he heard it all as I threw the phone on the passenger floor to focus on what was happening. Maybe I am in denial-I just am not sure how it all happened. So fast. The policeman was nice and I am sooo thankful friends were all around to help out. DD8 was SO shook up. My friends took them in to eat dinner while I gave my report and took care of towing. Then my friend brought us all home. Hoping to have a rental tomorrow. DH says whether my fault or not, he is getting me a new phone w/ bluetooth. I feel so bad for the guy in the other car, he had an accident earlier this month and was in rehab for it. UGHHHH.

I need prayers. I am so thankful my kids are okay. I keep flashing the whole thing over and over in my head and crying. I need this black cloud to MOVE out of the way. DH says snow is ion the forecast and wondering if his flight will be delayed. I told him not to rush home, we are okay. I need him safe.

I decided we just need to go back to Disney and stay.

The rest of my day was great.

Lori

lori1043, so sorry to hear about your accident. How scary! I'm glad you guys are ok.

TGIF! :cool1:

Lori the most important thing is you and the girls weren't hurt. I'm so sorry this happened to you. It seems like when it rains it pours. :flower3:

I'm leaving tomorow morning for Houston for the baseball tournament so I'll be MIA for a few days.

Have a safe trip! Give a wave when you pass through Prairieville (although I'll be @ work). Hope Kyle does well & ya'll have fun!.

Lori

 Hope you & the girls are doing OK this morning. The next day is always worse once the adrenaline goes away.

Sheryl - Welcome back! DC cleans up after himself too?? I may need to get that number from you if I ever need work done.

Read in the paper this morning (so it must be true ;) ) that today is National Margarita Day! Well, let's all do the responsible thing and celebrate accordingly!

Hi Y'all,

Lori, I'm sending prayers:flower3: & hugs  your way! So sorry that happened, sounds just like the wreck I had in Dec. Glad your girls were not hurt, hope you feel better soon!

Lori, We rented points at BC for our 1st trip. I also just searched & set up a rental for my SIL's trip in May. Found the renter on the Dis, gave her the dates, she books the reservation under my SIL's name. Bob will set up a conference call today with the renter & DVC to confirm the reservation. Once he knows that it's done, Chris will send payment via paypal. They will get 5 nights at Saratoga Springs for $600. ( 12 points a night, purchased at $10 a point)

Kathy, Hope Kyle has a great tournament and y'all have a great trip!

Sorry I haven't posted pics yet. I'm really feeling crappy. I'm not sure if it's the bug/cold I've caught or my fibromyalgia acting up. My body feels like it weighs a 1000 lbs & I ache. I'll post some pics in a bit.

Oh Lori!!! :hugs: Just keep in mind that this is what we have insurance for. Your kids are safe and that is the main thing.

BTW-what minivan did you have? We are looking into one soon.

I hope you feel better soon. Sometimes I still have bad dreams about an accident I had in 2005. If you need to talk to someone, we are here for you! Oh and even though the accident was yesterday, if you or your kids have any pain see a doctor ASAP...sometimes our body releases so much adrenaline that it takes a few days to notice any injury.

Now I really need to learn about this!!! We were just talking about the possibility of a four or five day trip to Disney on our way here today. We'd be spending a whole lot more than $600 if we stayed at BWI or Beach Club!!!!!!

Someone please help me when I get back home!

Morning Nola,

It's such a beautiful day!

What's it all about? It sounds like something my mom would like to go to.

lucas, That is taking place at the Ponchartrain Center in Kenner along with the Home Show. They give out samples of mostly thier frozen food products. We went last year. The Home Show was on the small side, didn't showcase anything new and the food tasting was just ok.

Here's a couple of pics from our Daytona trip:

You can walk on the track before the race. DH was more than thrilled!

We also went to Daytona Beach, they still have a very large section you can drive on:

I'll post some WDW food pics later.

Have a great day everyone!
