Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Hey y'all, Sorry for not checking in yesterday. It was a loong day at the hospital. Yesterday was worse for Alexis, her fever is higher than before the surgery & her pain is BAD. She is refusing to drink anything but water & doesn't want to move at all. We had to sponge bath her & get her out of the bed yesterday to change sheets. Poor baby it was awful. Chris realized yesterday they weren't giving her the full dose of morphine. So after a sleepless night Thursday night, she asked for it last night. She finally slept some only waking 4 times in pain. So she is still getting morphine, tylenol w/codiene, phenergan for nausea & the 3 antibiotics. Dr says this is all to be expected. His hopes were that she would be released Monday, but that's not looking good. Please pray that she improves, her Dr. is on vacation starting today & won't be back until Tuesday. Chris has a lot of faith in him & if anything were to go wrong now she would propably lose it.

I read back but didn't absorb it all.

I see that Aly is better! Yay for that!

Rie has a virus. I hope this clears up & she starts feeling better soon!

But I didn't catch if Erik was feeling better?

I'm praying for no more sickness for any of us or our babies!:flower3:

I am worried about all of you. In my prayers...

Kathy, PLEASE let us know if you get in touch....

Lori

BTW- I am relieved that if we get that flu, that I have a lovely female cardiologist that will take care of us(tamiflu):goodvibes

Hi guys,

Hung out with my BF and her daughter at mall today. Dillard's is having a mad sale on shoes. I bought two pair of sandals which were originally $90 fo $20 each. :yay:

Awe poor baby, I am praying she feels better soon.

Hey y'all!

Erik is doing better, but is HUNGRY again!!! So this morning he was on his third bottle by 10:30 am :faint: and was having trouble napping because he kept waking up starving (belly growling loudly!), so I gave in and fixed him a bowl of rice cereal. :ssst: Boy, he sucked that cereal down, FAST!! :rotfl: I fed him with a spoon and he had a little trouble with the spoon feeding at first, but he caught on really fast and soon had his mouth gaping open like a baby bird! So I think from now I'm I'll make him a bowl if he's super hungry like this morning. He slept, well, like a baby after the cereal too!

Yah for cereal....:yay:

That's okay. I saw enough for all of us combined.

Were you in Marrero? so was I and it stormed. :rolleyes1

I'm going with Bethany's train of thought and that she's either resting or where she has no phone service. Keeping good thoughts.

Yea I am as well.

Lori how are you and your baby feeling? Is her allergies better?

Hey y'all, I spoke with Sheryl. She sounds very tired and wants to thank everyone for prayers and support. Alexis is, according to the doctors, progressing as expected. She managed to walk a bit today, painfully, to a play room and seemed to enjoy a few minutes there. She has started to drink a bit of juice and a few sips of broth. She is still in a lot of pain and needs prayers but progressing as expected. Prayers for Sheryl too, as she's having aide problems again.

Thank you, Kathy, for getting in touch with her and passing along the information. :goodvibes

I am glad to hear that Alexis is progressing as expected, but still sad to hear that she is in so much pain. :sad1:

And MORE aide problems? Aren't there laws for health care? Does she have any legal recourse at this point? I cannot believe the difficulties she has had with these health aides.

Oh my, poor Alexis. It is breaking my heart to know she is suffering. Thanks for the update Kat. I am going back to read and will post more tomorrow.

Good morning NOLA! Continued prayers for Alexis. I'm excited, Kyle is coming in and will be spending the night!!!!!!:yay:

Happy Sunday gang.

I don't feel like doing much today. Just feeling lazy.

Continued prayers for Alexis.

Kathy you must be cooking up a strom over there. :goodvibes

How many of you stayed up all night watching the game? I fell asleep. :lmao:

Hey y'all, Quick checkin on Alexis. She still ran fever 101.5 last night & needed morphine & codiene. She was also dry heaving during the night, one of the antibiotics flagyl seems to really tear up her little stomach. Which is strange considering she's still getting her meds throught the IV. Good news (no way to put this delicately) but she finally passed gas. So she can try soup with the noodles! & maybe some noodles later today. She told the nurse last night that she's wants all kinds of foods she can't have "I want noodles & shrimp from the Blue Tomato, regular noodles, chinese noodles & a #8". (her own hot dog creation). But this morning when she was told she could eat, she didn't want anything. The goal for today is more walking, some eating & hopefully get her off of the morphine. Pray that the fever goes away, below 100.5 or we will never get her out of the hospital.

Thanks to all of you for your prayers, love & good wishes.:grouphug:

Extra special Thank you to Kathy for keeping everyone updated!

Sounds like she's slowly getting back to normal. Her little body has been through such a traumatic experience. Continued prayers for her.

Alexis is in my prayers as are you. Have her drink LOTS because that will help reduce her fever.

I fell asleep when the score was tied at 10. They always seem to pull ahead when I'm sleeping. This does not bode well for next week. :rolleyes1

It does sound like Alexis is improving!

Kathy and Riesmom that's too cute.

Riesmom how is Rie today?

:rotfl:I had to make a Chef Kathy because she seems like such a good cook.

Rie is fine today, thanks. She went to the mall with her boyfriend and his mom.

Happy Labor Day!!! Today is a lazy day for me except that I might do some sewing later.

I just spit my coffee out....:rotfl2:

I am so enjoying having my boy home, I slept well last night knowing he was in the house safe and sound.:cloud9:

I wish that I could lock her in a closet til she's 30!

:yay:I remember when our son would come home from college. It felt so good to have all of my little chicks at home.
Last night, I made the ADRs pages for the 17th and the 18th. This afternoon, I'm going to make some more.
