Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Hey Y'all,
Sorry for the late update on Alexis. Cell phone battery went dead in the hospital today. Got home & gobbled down some food. Alexis slept about an hour this evening, not much at all considering the meds she's on. They gave her morphine & tylenol w/codiene at noon and 3:00. They had to give it to her again around 7:00. She is trying so hard to "be good" but she is in a lot of pain. She was able to drink water & a little juice without vomiting. The surgeon came in this evening & thought that she was doing as well as could be expected.

Thanks to all of you for the concern, love & prayers.:grouphug: I only thought I needed it & y'all for my surgery. Watching our "baby girl" in so much pain, is just killer. :sad1:

Julie, I'm sorry Rie is feeling so bad. I hope you get some answers tomorrow.

The hardest thing in the world is seeing your child in pain. Hugs to Alexis and to you. She must have an iron constitution not to get knocked out by the codeine and morphine. 1 aspirin puts me to sleep. Speaking of sleep, try to rest so that you don't get sick.

Oh poor Alexis! I do hope that her recovery goes well and she is back up and running soon! That is so scary, how did they figure it out?

Mono stinks too.. I hope that Rie gets on the mend soon too

Glad Ms. A is on the mend, Terry

Not much going on here... putting our house on the market Saturday. Not in the condition that I would like to see.. but got to get rid of it. Wish we would have gone the apartment route...would have been so much easier.

Good luck and prayers to sell your house quickly!

 for Alexis, Rie, Erik and all the adults too.

Seems like everyone is having troubles.

Got some good news today, though - I'm getting a raise this month. It's not huge, but it's something. So, yay!

:yay:RAISE:dance3: Congratulations!!!:cheer2:

Hugs to Alexis, keeping all in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank-you. You're in ,y prayers as are the rest of the crew!

Great news! :goodvibes

I do have to say...at the moment...I am NOT having troubles!!! :woohoo:
And I hope it stays that way for awhile!

Sheryl - Thank you for the update on Alexis. I wish we could make it all better. Let me know if there's anything I can do.

Oh Dear, Sheryl. I am JUST reading about Alexis! Wow!!!!! I am glad she is recovering well and just spoil her rotten! Where is she at?, if you don't mind me asking. You can PM or FB me if you have time. She has a very special prayer coming her way from the northshore tonight. I hate seeing kids in the hospital:guilty:.....

Hey y'all!

It is actually quiet in this house right now....the calm before the storm!! :rolleyes1

Erik had a rough night (which means that I had a rough night...), so he's not completely well just yet. Hopefully this virus will be over soon!

Lori- Hope Haley feels better soon! Have you taken Emergen-C? I swear by that stuff. As many times as we've gone in September, we've never taken advantage of the bounceback offer either. We just can't commit that far ahead without knowing what lies ahead in the future. Even though the deposit is refundable, it would kill me to cancel and I would still feel committed to go just because I booked it.

I've noticed that my spelling, grammar, and typos are just atrocious lately- please forgive! I'm lacking brain cells these days!

Lorie- I am glad to hear that b/c we have been taking it(EmergenC) as a family every other day for over a week now- we fill our cups and toast to for us to have a healthy Disney trip!
Hope Erik is better soon and sleeping MUCH better even sooner!

We get the results tomorrow morning. I'm kind of a wreck today because it's frustrating to see her feeling bad and the doctors don't know how to treat her.

Thanks for the prayers. God, I hope so too.

Hope you have some peace about it soon:hug:. That can be worse than anything- the waiting.

BTW- Paul is home!!!! I can sleep tonight! I have never had a week like that when he was away. I am not fearful, but maybe piled with everything else it just pushed me over the edge. I shoulda just gone with him like we talked about originally.

Lori

PS- 9 day dance!!!!!

Question:

I feel VERY blessed to ask this b/c it means I have been to Disney a bunch of times. If I was going back to DL, I would feel the need to plan a bit more. Everytime we have been to WDW I go all out and make a binder with all this cool info, where we are going each day, etc. This trip will be my personal 10th time, even though 2x were for 2-3 days only and once was to DL.

sooo.... do YOU all go all outlandish in planning any more, for those who have been blessed to go more than the normal(which i think may be all of us) family? Should I be doing more???? Is my trip gonna suck b/c I didn't plan more?

I just feel like planning the ADR's and which park to go to which day has been more than enough this time. I am so not stressed over this trip. I feel oddly at peace without a perfect to a tee plan. Every time I feel the pull to plug in my info to the Unofficial Guide, I feel like, WHY am I doing this? I do not need to write down the rides I wanna ride 1st, etc...

Lori

lori - I think at this point you probably pretty well know what you want to do and what you need to do to accomplish it. You know it so well that you can have a plan and back up options without putting it to paper. I think you'll be just fine.

I finally got around to the pics, so here's my plate:

Hey y'all,

I wanted to check in before heading back to the hosp. this morning.

Julie, I hope you get some answers this morning. While mono isn't fun, at least you would know the cause & that she'll eventually get well.

Jamie, You're plate is pretty! Congrats on the raise!

Lori, Remember that quickie trip we took with Alexis at the end of school. NO planning & it was great! I mean we even booked ADR's just 2 days before. If you remember I was sort of freaked out about it, but it worked out great. Our last few trips we've just made up a basic itinerary of times of ADR's, then check parade & fireworks times.

What's Emergen-C? different than just taking vit C? I've been popping the vitamins, trying not to sick.

Morning everyone! Nothing better than a Friday before a 3 day weekend!

Of course, it sounds like some of us need the break of a three day.

Shovan- Morphine & codeine? - That little one must be tough. P&PD all of you get some much needed rest the next few days.

Rie's mom - Not wishing mono on anyone. I just hope the docs figure out what's been dragging R down. Do you think she's just pushing too hard & having small relapses instead of a full recuperation? I know how I was in HS, and resting my body was way down on the priority list. Getting sick was my body's way of telling me stop NOW!

Lori - Almost at the one week mark! Don't worry about a lack of a plan. I was anxious on our last trip for the same reason. Once I got over the initial "commando" mode, we were able to take a step back, grab a chair during afternoon snack time and figure out what we really wanted to do. I noticed once the "must do" rides were out of the way, our priorities have changed as the boys get older.

Portofcall - I didn't realize y'all were putting the house on the market too. Is this because of the housing situation with the IL's? Hope you get a quick turn around!

Speaking of which - Kathy - do I dare ask what's going on with M&D's house? I've still got fingers crossed here that y'all cross the finish line on that sale SOON!

Yes, I still do outlandish planning! I'm a bit anal when it comes to WDW. I go so far as to find Disney clip art or cute frames for my planning book. I bought a binding machine and a laminator. Here are a couple of examples-pitiful, no?

Rie was up all night with body aches, a sore throat, and headache.I couldn't wait and called the office. She was negative for mono. The nurse said though that the test showed a viral infection. If Rie is not feeling better by Tuesday, bring her back to the office.

How's Alexis? How are Ali, Erik, and Fletcher?
Hopefully, the long weekend will allow everyone to rest and get back on their feet!

I thought I had posted but guess I didn't....delayed...Ronnie (buyer) was trying to sell a property to fund the renovations on M&D's house, didn't go through so loan has to be increased to cover the renovation funds. We should close within 14 days.

Lori - I think you'll be fine without the mega planning we all tend to do. ENJOY!!!!!!!:cool1:

Hey y'all!

Erik is doing much better...still waking a bit at night, but much better overall!

And, I'm so happy to say that Sienna is pretty much potty-trained!:dance3: party:She's nap and night trained too- that happened very quickly, much to my surprise! She still won't use the potty in public places and prefers to just hold it until we get home, but that is a small issue in the scheme of things. We'll have that worked out by our next trip. ;)

Lori- The only planning we do now is our ADRs around the parks we'll be doing that day. And sometimes we'll even change that- if we go to a park and just feel like going somewhere else that day, we'll just hop over and come back for the ADR (park hoppers are a neccessity for us). I used to plan more, but DH is NOT a planner and doesn't like to be on a "schedule" on vacation, so I've learned to relax and really enjoy it more now that we stop and smell the roses!

Sheryl- Poor Alexis! I know how stressful this must be for you . I hope she continues to improve. Emergen-C is a supplement in powder form that you mix with water and drink. It comes in different flavors in little packets for single serving use. It is chock full of vitamins and gives you a boost if you feel like you are getting sick, or if you are preventing sickness. It is also GREAT for hangovers...:rolleyes1 (not that I would know anything about that :confused3). They sell it at Whole Foods by the vitamins- you can get it either by the single packet or by the box.

Julie- I hope Rie feels better soon!

Jamie- Yay on the raise! And beautiful plate!

Cara- Good luck on the house sale- I hope it goes quickly!

Ugh:hug: It soooo sucks.......selling a house. We are considering renting since we are hoping/planning not to be in Houston for too long b/c I don't wanna do this again too soon!

Thanks Lorie- I didn't know it was good for hangovers too!!!

Every other time i made a planner, and they were always pretty:rolleyes1. But we never did an hour to hour schedule- it is just NOT us. But we'd plan what rides we want to make sure we do and where we'd eat.

My friends hubby made the most beautiful planner ever saw and I got a little green, I must add:rolleyes1 and he is a first timer. I told his wife that a monster has been created and I am SURE they'll go back. This is the family I told you all about a while back whose children had never seen a Disney princess movie. Well, guess what? They have had a Disney movie crash course over the past year. I have had a time laughing at them!:rotfl:She didn't want to give her kids an "unrealistic' look at love and marriage(whatever) so they never watched them. I THINK my friendship with them has had an effect:cool2:, but all in all, I am THRILLED for them and would love to be a fly on thier stroller to witness thier faces when they see that castle!!:wizard: But she told me I wasn't allowed to stalk her.

So I told her I'd be having my own fun anyway! We have never been with JUST the 4 of us and we are looking forward to it.pirate:princess::cutie::cutie:

I am getting very excited and am making my own packing list b/c all the others are TOO detailed for me!

Thanks for the help, I am NOT making a binder, i'll just get stressed over it.
Gonna take my EmergenC.

PS- the hospital is making it mandatory for all healthcare workers to get the series of flu shots:mad:.I do not want this before my trip in case I have side effects so i have to wear a mask in EVERY room this weekend. I am going to alternate EmergenC with Airborne.

Sheryl- how's Alexis today?

Lori

Hi gang,

Aly is back to normal now! :yay: I am so happy I caught it in time and she was able to take Tamiflu as well. I hope she doesn't get it again later in the season; if so, I wish it is a lesser strain. I thought I was coming down with something as well but I guess it was just in my head. :lmao:

I hope Alexis is feeling much better and is able to come home soon. :goodvibes

Lorie I am so happy for Sienna; such a big girl. I am also glad Mr. Erik is all well too. :yay:

Jamie - Congrats on your raise. :thumbsup2

Kathy sorry to hear about the delay. I know you must be like :rolleyes1.

Julie - I hope Rie recovers from the virus quickly. I too would march her right back to the Dr. if she isn't feeling well by Tuesday. On a side note, girl you're just like me with the planning for disney. I LOVE YOUR ITENIRARIES! :thumbsup2

What's everyone doing on this long weekend? We have absolutely no plans at all.

Hey everybody - I need some help. I've been gifted a bottle of Amato's Strawberry wine. I'm thinking it's going to be sweeter than what I normally like. I much prefer big reds, and I've only recently grown to like some whites like Sancerres (TY Shovan), pinot grigios, and sauvignon blancs.

I don't think this would work as a cooking wine. Any ideas if this would work in a sangria? I'd hate for it to go to waste.

Rie was up all night with body aches, a sore throat, and headache.I couldn't wait and called the office. She was negative for mono. The nurse said though that the test showed a viral infection. If Rie is not feeling better by Tuesday, bring her back to the office.

Poor girl and poor Mom. Praying that she gets better real soon!

And, I'm so happy to say that Sienna is pretty much potty-trained!:dance3: party:She's nap and night trained too- that happened very quickly, much to my surprise! You tell her that we are all very proud of her!!!!!!!:thumbsup2

Hoping that Alexis is doing better today.

Monique - I forgot to put this in my last post. I think the strawberry wine would work in a sangria!:thumbsup2

For your next trip, I'd be happy to make up a travel journal for you-for any of you. It's fun and I get to play with my toys!!!

We have no plans and I'm glad. We'll just lay low and hope Rie gets better.

Poor girl and poor Mom. Praying that she gets better real soon!

I hope so too.

I forgot too!!!! I agree the wine would be delicious in sangria.
Hey, I think I'll ask Tim to go get me a Margarita-:dance3:.

not really doing anythign either this weekend - some high school friends are coming in sunday and may go hang out with them some!

OK - I'll give the sangria a shot. I have a feeling the crowd tomorrow night won't really care as long as it's cold & has some sort of booze in it, KWIM? :rolleyes1 Off to find a recipe (just about any citrus or berry, right?)

Now, margaritas don't sound like a bad idea......I think I'll have DH whip up a batch for tonight!

While we're @ it, I'll be sure to raise a toast to Sienna & Lorie :dance3:. Yay to both of you for hitting that big milestone! And Erik - love the new picture! I hope he's letting his momma get a little more shut eye.
