Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Thanks everybody! (I guess at some point it will need to be thanks y'all lol)

No doubt I will have allergies down there. I'm allergic to a lot. Its 6 prescriptions, not just 6 allergies. I'm allergic to cats, dogs, mice, roaches, mold and mildew (found black spots of this yesterday to add to my growing rainbow), all the trees in the northeast, dust mites, etc...I think there was more but I forget. The clarinex was a trial instead of weekly allergy shots for 3 years. I think I may come down to that at some point in the near future. *shrugs*

Have a good rest of the day!

My mom did the injections way back when. I guess I was too young at the time, and she didn't discuss it with me, so all I know is that she did them. Sorry I don't have more info about it. Wherever you end up living, make sure they treated the structure for mold after Katrina, especially if it had to be gutted and rebuilt. My dad is now swearing by Zyrtec, but I tried it and it zonked me out. If I'm diligent, I can pretty much keep under control with Claritin-D. I do have to resort to sudafed once or twice a year though.

hey gals!

Kathy, hoping Kyle fixes up quickly!

Kristina and I had doc appointments today(at the same time, wierdly enough) then we were gonna meet up for a quick lunch, but her doc sent her to the ER. Please keep her in your prayers. She is having tets as we speak. I am unsure how much I should say other than she told me she had a pulmonary embolism a few years back and the pain she complained about seemed to alarm the doc enough to do testing for that. I have tried to call but the phones aren't working well in the hospital-so we are texting. Her hubby is with her. I think she has some friends to help take care of Grayce.

I hope this is all for nothing, but will let you know when I find out more.

My doc can find nothing wrong other than stress.....;)

But I am getting my first mammogram in the next couple weeks:yay:. I am soooo thrilled.....(where is a obvious sarcasm smilie).:rolleyes1

Can't wait to have them all squished....

Lori

Hey y'all!

Sheryl- Glad to hear Angelina is doing better! And i hope that you can get something worked out regarding your surgery.

Bethany- DH is allergic to pretty much everything environmental- had to do the shots when he was a kid. But he doesn't take anything now and has survived. He did have to cut down on drinking dairy products (replaced with soy) and we can't have pets with fur in the house. Of course, he says he feels his best, allergy-wise, in Disney World- go figure! :rotfl: Disney World makes everything better (just like cookies!). If he has a bad allergy flare up, he takes Claritin-D.

I already wrote this on FB, but I'm measuring almost three weeks too big again at my Dr appt this morning! :scared: So my Dr said that if I'm still measuring big at my next appt in two weeks, she'll do an ultrasound to see if he is indeed a "Godzilla baby" (her words), and if so, then my due date will be moved up to the last week of May! :scared1: It's only a week bump up from my c-section scheduled on June 3rd, but it feels so much sooner!

I'm sorry but which poster is Kristina? I hope she's ok!!!!

Thanks for the weather update Mary. It does sound good but it's still four days away. Fingers crossed.

Sheryl good to hear from you. How are you feeling now? Good news about Angelina. I'll keep you both in my prayers.

Colin had a school field trip today to a museum in Baton Rouge. He really wasn't too excited on going, it cost $34.00 which I thought was a little high and I would still have to drive to Baton Rouge because the parents can't ride with the kids. So we skipped the field trip all together and he and I went to the movies. We saw Monsters vs. Aliens. It was ok but it was weird being in the movies with only one other family. I had to keep reminding myself that it's a school day. It was nice just having some one on one time with him because with three kids it doesn't happen much.

So Bethany did you take the job? Was it everything you were looking for?

Kathy how is Kyle feeling today?

Holy Moly.. 34.00? What museum was it?

I am keeping Kristina in my prayers. I hope everything is OK.

hey y'all thanks for the prayers and well wishes - they obviously worked!!

...well, this morning I had been at work 10 minutes when i started having severe pain under my shoulder blade (vs back pain) so I made a dr appt. he sent me to the ER thinking it was another pulmonary embolism (nothing to play with had one in 11/04). at the ER they thought was just gall bladder so had ultrasound....and they took a lot of blood. dang vampires. and had to do 2 ivs (1st one was painful and didn't work). and I am a wuss with anything needle-ish...they came back and said ultrasound was fine but some D? levels were high and sent me for CT scan. didn't have metallic taste in my mouth from it this time. literally prayed through the entire procedure...was expecting to be housed for a few days but doc came in and said "wow we couldn't find anything. so now we don't know what is wrong with you!" and as nice and helpful as they were while I was there...they turned me out quicker than last weeks crawfish heads in the trash!! :rotfl:

anyway, note to self - graham crackers on empty pain medicated stomach - BAD idea....:scared1: so waiting for the clear broth and meds to I can rest. all I can say is God had to have healed me in there cause there is no other explanation! (and they don't order CT scans lightly...)

sorry missed lunch Lori! thanks for praying with me and you too Bethany - I dropped my phone while waiting for the ultrasound and now I can't call out and have to use speaker phone to listen and half time doesn't work anyways....sure that has nothing to do with dropping it. :rolleyes1

Kristina - Thank God you're OK and they threw you out quickly! We were surely praying girlfriend.:thumbsup2

Oh my gosh! Hope everyone feels better sooner rather than later.

I think Kyle has a fractured rib. He was wrestling with a friend Saturday and has been in pain since. Just called the doc and there's really not much other than pain meds which he doesn't want...... Any suggestions? I've been giving him ibuprofen and we have him wrapped.
I love ibuprofen. My only suggestion would be to take 4 (with food) - that's the prescription strength. Hopes he's doing better.

Except that we went to the wrong garage after. Dude, where's my car?
I've done that more than once! The most embarrassing was when this guy I didn't really even know (but was a friend of a friend) gave me a ride to my car. We went up and down the ramps - no car. All of those places in the quarter look alike. Love the flower.

it said....that I was offered the job!
What fantastic news. I love hearing that people are moving to New Orleans.

Lorie: You are not letting Sienna down, years from now, maybe even many years from now, she will thank you for the gift of her brother.
Yeah sure! My first memory in life (age 3) was my mother bringing my brother home. I wanted them to take IT back!! Decades later I'm still not sure that I'm thankful!:lmao::lmao::lmao:

:cool1:I have good news with Angelina! Her back is feeling better & the pain down the leg is improving too! :goodvibes She also has a job offer, but terms aren't firmed up yet! She also got a call from that company she had interviewed with about another position.

As for me, The dr office didn't get back with me until yesterday about scheduling the surgery. I was hoping for early May but they now don't have anything until the 25th.
So good to hear from you and the good news about Angelina. I know the surgery is scary, but life will be so much better afterwards. I had this really weird surgery 15 years ago where my neck was cut open and my tongue muscle was moved forward (my throat was too small). I had to spend 2 days in ICU afterwards plus some more hospital time. So glad I did it though. And my memories of it aren't even too bad.

And Kristina - wow! Glad they sent you home - but way too scary. :scared1: Stay well so we can all go eat at all of those great restaurants.

I'm still in Little Rock - but am going to Jackson for a wedding this weekend. My sister just got back in town so I'll be able to leave for awhile to check out nola afterwards. I have to go clean my condo before I have a guest in May. I used to always leave it spotless when I left - but well that has slipped.

glad they got you out of there...hope not too quickly, not having found what was wrong :scared:

Anyone here watch American Idol? We have a connection on the WFD thread to Kris, who was incredible tonight but I also love Adam!

I DVR'd it. I'm about to go watch it. I love Kris, Adam and Allison. I'm glad to hear he was good tonight.

Phew! Thank goodness Kristina, I was worried sick! I need to get your phone number... I am glad you had good friends around you when you needed... (Lori, you are awesome, and I hope you are around if I need you like that) Thanks for getting the news out.

Lorie... I just realized how soon May is... no wonder you feel like it is so much closer should they move your date up a week! (and okay, it took me decades to get over my mother having my sister... but I finally came around)

$34 for a field trip???? Holy moly, I hope you had fun at the theatre, even if you are the only one there

Sheryl, glad to hear from you, I miss you when your aren't around.

I am contemplating going camping this weekend. Spencer has been dying to go and roast Marshmallows, but it is kinda last minute to start getting organized.... DH has never gone with us. I am trying to convince him to come this time cause I feel a little outnumbered taking all three. He is an "indoor" boy.

Kristina - I am glad they did not find anything girl. Hope you feel better soon.

I'll PM it to you and anyone else who would like it on FB and/or here...we need to get that emergency list going! Lori had just called me today so I had her # and already had Bethany's....

as for camping, Tree House Villas is great for the "indoor" boy!!! ;)
