Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

I'm going to try and finalize and distribute our emergency contact list by Saturday. If anyone has not sent in their info and want to be included please send my your data soon!:flower3:

Good morning ladies.

Colin and I saw Monsters vs. Aliens yesterday and we really only thought the movie was ok. The theater we go to in Mandeville only played it in 2D so we didn't get to wear the cool glasses. I know my sister saw the movie in Slidell and it was 3D. Maybe that took some of the coolness of the movie away for us. :confused3

I agreee- not a buyer if you ask me. It was cute, but that's about it.

Ladies I am so excited! Kurt jr will be starting PreK in August!!!! It is a limited program so I was afraid he wouldn't get in, but he did!!!

Congrats!!!:yay:

WOW, Tricia you're almost at the 1 month mark for your vacation!:cool1:

:banana::cool1::yay:

I was SO looking forward to lunch..more annoyed than anything that I had to go do all that. I have a serious fear of doctors and needles. and sad I missed my gal lunch. oh well there will be other days! it was killing me not having access to a computer and my phone quit working dialing out....so I literally had to get up out the bed and go across the room to use the phone on the wall to call anymore. and I don't know anyones' phone numbers anyway, so it was a definite balancing feat! thanks for posting it though and letting everyone know.

me too, but that is okay. I thought about coming , or asking you for help with Grayce, BUT since she doesn't know me and not sure if I was crossing a line with the hospital thing. I mean, if you were admitted, i'd come visit, but an ER visit is sorta personal, IMHO. Anyway, I am glad you are ok and all is well.

Lori

kmores - thanks for the link! I thought about Margaritaville, but then they threw in the "local" food request. I forgot about Ralph & Kacoos. I briefly skimmed back & realized you had quite a day yesterday! Glad everything worked out, and I hope it's one of those :confused3 moments that doesn't repeat itself.

Deanies seafood is also downtown...and prices there are good. would definitely call for a reservation though!

ok so when is F&W fest? I know some are planning to go - what are the dates? there are $118 round trip tickets available through October!

and I wish we could get together in May - the only weekend I have available that month is May 15th-17th...but don't base it just on me.

:cool1: That is awesome news! I know you must be relieved. Spencer and Kurt Jr. must be around the same age as he could go to Pre-K next year if I had wanted to send him:rolleyes1 Our school doesn't start until K so I decided to keep him where he is at just because of scheduling conflicts...

Yep and it isn't getting here fast enough. Just yesterday I started buying things for the trip and got out my big Mickey tote bag and started loading it up. :thumbsup2
You are really getting to the exciting part!!!! :yay::woohoo::yay:

Morning Y'all,
Well I went to bed last night decided on June, then woke up this morning thinking May was best! :sad2::upsidedow But this decision will be made today!

I am sure you made the right decision, it sure was a big one! I hope that you are able to be back to your old self soon!

Yeah ...the allergies are bad...:headache: And we are just now blooming up here so it's not helping! Looks nice though... :flower3:

Clarinex-D is what I've been on for the last year. Every. single. day. I have to be taken off it though; I can't have sudafed anymore because my blood pressure was really high...for the second time. Crazy thing though...it's only high on the days I go there straight from work. It's like 160 over something when I get there, so they test it again an hour or so later....and its normal, like 115. :confused3

Zyrtec is the new one...but last time I tried it, it put me to sleep too. :confused3 I will behave and try it again.

Next step is housing...:headache: Worked a bit on that with Cara....need to think some more about it with DH and go from there....

And this apartment will likely be gutted when I move out. They have been gutting most, if not all, of the apartments as they are vacated. It's been really, uh, FUN, to live in a building that is being gutted unit by unit for the last year or so. Water randomly gets shut off...bug problems get worse, then less, then worse, etc...noisy....69. More. Days. Of. This. Apartment.
(And NO, it was not this bad when I moved in.)

Judging from the comments I've gotten, this is apparently not a common thing to do....:confused3

QUOTE]
awww Bethany... you called me by my name!LOL OUCH on your current apartment. Take all the time you need in deciding what you are going to do about the housing situation... don't rush it.

69 days! :yay: That means you will be here in 73:dance3:

And for the record, and by the traffic, people move here all the time... just not someone I know. :flower3: so enjoy the welcome wagon treatment, I certainly don't do it for random strangers...

Well, it is official... we will be spending this weekend in Mississippi camping with the cub scouts. I was hoping not to be able to "find" all the essentials, but the boys are determined and came out of the garage with the tent, airbag, camp stove, fold-out table, and sleeping bags....

I was thinking I was gonna be able to get out of it because I told my boys that it would depend on their grades, checked today, and I am ASHAMED of myself for this, but I was soooo dissapointed to see all A's and B's.... darn, I mean YAY...:upsidedow

Deanies seafood is also downtown...and prices there are good. would definitely call for a reservation though!

I thought about Deanies too-yum!!!
How about Jack Demspey's on Poland? They could take a cab.
The 2 Ds have the best seafood in town, IMO. The portions are huge, so it's fun to order different things and share.
Great-now I'm hungry!

WHO has $118 RT tickets??!!!

We have one free flight with SW and one with United.

That weekend is PERFECT for me!

Lori

Bethany- Actually, I know many ex-pats from other states that came to New Orleans to visit, fell in love with the city, and moved here. I would say that at my old job that maybe a third of the people I worked with fit this description. It is more common than you think.

And baby boy's name...well, we have pretty much decided on a first name- Erik (spelled with the "k", DH is insisting). No decision on a middle name still- :headache:. We just can't agree! Maybe I should do an online poll...:rotfl: So far we have: Erik Todd (after DH), Erik August, Erik Julien, and the wild card- Erik Treme (because it would match DD's New Orleans middle name- Marigny).

Ladies I am so excited! Kurt jr will be starting PreK in August!!!! It is a limited program so I was afraid he wouldn't get in, but he did!!!
Congrats! :thumbsup2

Lorie how are you feeling? I guess it you were due in the mid to end of June and they moved you up a week it wouldn't feel too early but being the beginning of June and moving up a week puts you in a whole new month. Time flies. I'm sure once Sienna sees her little brother all those feelings she's been having will be gone. Good luck!
I'm feeling okay, overall- some days are better than others. I'm finding that if my sodium intake now is too high, or if I'm on my feet too much that my calves get really sore and swollen by the next day. :sad2: And yes, even though it is only another week bumped up that it being in a whole other month just makes it seem so much sooner!

I'm going to try and finalize and distribute our emergency contact list by Saturday. If anyone has not sent in their info and want to be included please send my your data soon!:flower3:
I was talking to DH about this last night....I want him to contact some people when I have the baby, but I know he won't be going online anytime soon at the hospital. He could call someone and maybe send a picture or email on his phone. Would you want to be the contact person for our little group Kathy?

Deanies seafood is also downtown...and prices there are good. would definitely call for a reservation though!
I was thinking Deanies too- I LOVE their fried artichoke hearts- yum yum!

Oh boy- have fun! ;):rotfl:

How about Jack Demspey's on Poland?
Ok, I have a funny story about Jack Dempsey's, as told by my MIL, who loves to tell this story to anyone that will listen. Years ago, DH and his family went out to eat at Jack Dempsey's. When they got their salads, DH grabbed a bottle of salad dressing and started to vigorously shake it. Well, the cap wasn't screwed on all the way, and salad dressing flew all over the table sitting behind them (DH disagrees with MIL on this- he says it really only hit one lady at the table :rotfl:). Well, they were mortified and apologized profusely, ate quickly and left, with MIL saying "great, now there's another place we can't ever go back to.." while smacking DH upside the head. Whenever she tells this story, which is often, DH just sits there rolling his eyes, sighing, and saying "do you REALLY need to tell this story AGAIN?". :lmao:

Lorie- I like Erik Treme and Eric Todd- but I am a sucker for sentimental. Ashton's middle name is after my dads mom(and I was close to her) and Haley's middle name is after my moms mother(middle name). Both of my grandmothers had crazy names-Clementine Elizabeth(Ashton Elizabeth), and Melvina Catherine(Haley Catherine, or Haley Kate as we call her at times). And Treme is sentinmental and follows Sienna's name-kinda cute. Eric Treme sounds like a book name, either author or lead man!!

Just my opinion!!

Lori

Kurt jr turns 5 in late Sept, and is technically eligable for Kindergarten, but since it is so close to the cut off I tried to get him in the PreK 4 program.(Hope that clears things up :) )

I will still have Aiden at home!

What info do I need to send you Kathy?

Lorie...

I love Erik Todd or Erik Treme. It would be hard for me to pick. I always love naming a baby boy after Daddy.. apparently I didnt get that wish with Jack , but I would love naming the baby to match his sister.

Erik Julien is nice, Julien is my nephews name.
What a hard decision !!! At least you have the first name. It was so hard for us to pick out Jack's name. I finally just named him myself because Chad wouldnt agree to anything . I just called him Jack and people started giving me stuff with Jack on it :rotfl:
Jack is after my Dad.. he is John, but the family calls him Jack.

Keeping my fingers crossed that when we get prego again its a girl because if it is a boy he will come out with no name lol... BTW.. since surgery all my female stuff has started back up WOO HOO. So we have to wait one more month to get on the baby making.

Morning Y'all,
Bethany, Congrats again! I think you are going to really like your new job & being a real Nola girl!
On your allergies, I was able to stop the weekly allergy injections about 2 1/2 yrs ago. I'm using zyrtec, flonase nasal inhaler for the sinuses and advair & (the new crappy) albuterol for asthma. Knock on wood it's been working pretty well, only a couple of sinus infections a year. Advair has been amazing for my asthma, have you tried that?

Well I went to bed last night decided on June, then woke up this morning thinking May was best! But this decision will be made today!

Thanks again. :goodvibes That's the hope!

I haven't tried Advair. I just got Flovent. It is snazzy. It has a built-in counter to track how many puffs are left!

So...were you able to come to a decision?

Metairie was voted one of the top 100 cities to live in! so was Mandeville. again, I will sacrifice to go shopping with you! and it is going to be in the mid 80's this week.

Who voted?
We got a bunch of ads today; JCPenney is (surprise) having a sale on Saturday. I'm going to try to go.

I'm going to try and finalize and distribute our emergency contact list by Saturday. If anyone has not sent in their info and want to be included please send my your data soon!

I PMed you.

ok so when is F&W fest? I know some are planning to go - what are the dates? there are $118 round trip tickets available through October!

Okay I have to tell you...I was reading this on my phone on the bus and I was getting miffed about this. I was mad because we never get prices that low up here, so in my mind I'm thinking "Yeah, YOU can go for $118! Cheapest I've ever seen were $225 round trip to WDW!" Then I said to self: "Wait...that's OCTOBER. Those prices are for New Orleans. I could go for that price too!" It's as if my mind knows I'm moving but hasn't quite figured out what that all entails yet. :rotfl:

awww Bethany... you called me by my name!LOL OUCH on your current apartment. Take all the time you need in deciding what you are going to do about the housing situation... don't rush it.

Okay...yes I used your name. Something like that for the numbers....
I will enjoy the welcome wagon. :goodvibes

That's a lot of camping stuff. I would not know what to do with it. And that is funny about the grades...:lmao:

Lorie, have I ever told you I love your posts? :lmao:

Wow...the only places people move to from here is Florida or North Carolina. If you say anywhere else, people will suggest that you consider Florida or North Carolina. Then, when you tell them it's too late for that, you get told that they are upset with you for not going to Florida or North Carolina. :headache:

I like the Erik Treme. Yeah, he might come a weebit sooner but you DID say you were ready to evict him! :rotfl:

Ooooh! You are already thinking of how to get a photo and news of the little guy to us! :goodvibes You're so sweet!

Sounds like a fun dinner! :lmao: And this is the SAME DH you want to update us about your little boy? :rolleyes1

I had to take out some smileys. I had too many for one post!

I'm going to attempt to sleep. I'm exhausted but having trouble sleeping. Last night I did not sleep until 1. I'm going to call in sick tomorrow; I spent most of today in coughing fits and and I can't sleep so I'm so tired. Goodnight! :grouphug:

Erik Todd (after DH), Erik August, Erik Julien, and the wild card- Erik Treme (because it would match DD's New Orleans middle name- Marigny).
Would you want to be the contact person for our little group Kathy?

I like Erik Todd & Erik Treme.

Of course I'd love to be the contact!:goodvibes

GM NOLA!

Lorie I like Erik Treme as well. :)

Man I have been itching like crazy lately....don't know why maybe my nerves and stress??? It was so bad last night that I took a bath with Aveeno Oatmeal stuff and then took Benadryl and fell asleep...Could stress be causing this? :confused3

Morning Y'all,

Kat, I want to be on the emergency list. You have my info, but do you want me to send it again?

Lorie, I like #1 Erik Todd, #2 Erik Treme.

Terry, I get itchy all over & have been to the dr several times for it. ( I've even gotten little bumbs or just a faint rashy look). They couldn't find anything & said to take benadryl. I think for me it's a combo of allergies acting up & stress. It often starts when I lay down in bed at night. :confused3

Jenny, I'm glad to hear that all your "stuff" is working again!! Hopefully going through the surgery will pay off with a little bambino!

Thanks again for all the prayers & good thoughts my friends! :grouphug:
Kristina please do keep praying for it all to just go poof & gone! :goodvibes You'll be joining in with Bob on that prayer.

I have decided on July for the surgery, but haven't been able to talk with my dr about it yet. (Hopefully I'll here from him today, he's not in surgery.)Unless he tells me it's a very bad idea to wait, it will be July. It would be easier on Chris & Angelina (which will give us the most help) if I can wait.

Have a good day ladies!

Hmmm, so the top 2 names y'all have picked are the bottom two on our list. I don't really believe that a son should be named after his father- I think he should have his own name, but "Todd" was thrown in by DH for the heck of it. Treme was more of a half-joke between us because of the Marigny name, but it sounds sort of catchy. Interesting....I'm more confused now than ever! :rotfl: August is what we were agreeing on the most. We'll have to ponder this some more!

Terry- I've been itchy lately since it has gotten warmer- I thought it was just heat rash. But stress would definitely believable too!

Jenny- So you're gonna jump on the baby bandwagon I take it? Good luck to y'all! :wizard: Just do what I do- lose some weight, plan a WDW vacation (or just go on the vacation), and you'll be pregnant in no time! Or wait for hurricane season when there is a really big hurricane on the horizon...I always get pregnant during hurricane season! (DD- Katrina baby, future DS- Gustav baby)

Sheryl- Hopefully the Dr will okay your July decision!

Man I have been itching like crazy lately....don't know why maybe my nerves and stress??? It was so bad last night that I took a bath with Aveeno Oatmeal stuff and then took Benadryl and fell asleep...Could stress be causing this? :confused3

I think stress can pretty much cause anything.

Kat, I want to be on the emergency list. You have my info, but do you want me to send it again?

No, I took it off the WFD list.;)

Emergency contact list has been pm'd to everyone who sent me info. If anyone did not receive it please let me know.:flower3:

Hey y'all - I just got emergency contact info from someone. I think I'll wait a day or two before I re-issue the list, in case we have anyone who hasn't responded yet or if anyone has corrections and/or additions to make.:goodvibes

Hey ya'll:)

Just getting back from a nice lunch at Reginelli's with DD, sister and godchild. The girls got out at 11:30 today because of founder's day at Chapelle.

Lorie, I like Erik Treme also. I love the way it flows:thumbsup2

Kat, I'll pm you with the information.
