Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

I'll work on the emergency list as soon as I have time, if someone else has time on their hands I'll pm you the info.

hey y'all thanks for the prayers and well wishes - they obviously worked!!

Kristina, I am soo glad you are okay! Prayers that the pain stays gone for good! I'm know you must have been really scared but also really glad they kicked you out the door.

Lorie, May is coming so quickly isn't it?! I know it must seem to be happening too soon, but if it happens at least you'll have beat the heat of June.

Thanks everyone for missing me! I've missed y'all too. Say prayers that I make the right decision tomorrow. I'm still scared but mostly I want to make everything go as smoothly as it can for everyone. It would be easier for Angelina & Chris if I can wait til July.

Thanks for the prayers for Kmores.

I hope I did not say too much, just wanted prayers for you to be okay, chic! Missed lunch with ya too, but I could tell on our phone call this morning that you felt bad.

Working next 3 days! Hva ea good week friends!

Lori

Congrats Piglet!:woohoo: Just one word of advice - don't go out and buy a whole new wardrobe in anticipation of your new job, unless you get lots of elastic waistbands....cuz you know you'll be eating well! :rotfl: As if you haven't already noticed, everything we do centers around food!

Sadly, I have to agree with others on the allergies. DS2 has issues as well. You'll probably get some relief since you're leaving the mold behind. However, considering there's always something in bloom, I bet you find something else new & wonderful that makes you sniffle & sneeze!

I noticed. If somebody visits NOLA and doesn't notice, they have something seriously wrong with their observation skills. :lmao: I do have a slight NEED for clothes though. Like...now. I don't know what happened to all my short sleeve shirts? :confused3 I barely have enough to get me through a work week!

Yeah ...the allergies are bad...:headache: And we are just now blooming up here so it's not helping! Looks nice though... :flower3:

Tricia, the forecast is looking good for this weekend.

Here too....can you believe I saw an 80 on the forecast for HERE for the weekend?!? EIGHTY!!! :yay: :woohoo: And yes, it was 36 yesterday!!
(And yes, I have to double check that the weather is for HERE. One time I was watching and they gave us the weather for New Orleans instead of New York. :confused3 I got all excited then realized...WRONG CITY. :lmao:)

Colin had a school field trip today to a museum in Baton Rouge. He really wasn't too excited on going, it cost $34.00 which I thought was a little high and I would still have to drive to Baton Rouge because the parents can't ride with the kids. So we skipped the field trip all together and he and I went to the movies. We saw Monsters vs. Aliens. It was ok but it was weird being in the movies with only one other family. I had to keep reminding myself that it's a school day. It was nice just having some one on one time with him because with three kids it doesn't happen much.

So Bethany did you take the job? Was it everything you were looking for?

Kathy how is Kyle feeling today?

$34? :scared1: We have one tomorrow for $3. Hopefully the weather doesn't cancel it. It's supposed to rain/hail and we are going to the zoo.

Uh...YEAH I took it!! And yes, it appears to be everything I was looking for. It's a pull-out ESL position. :goodvibes

My mom did the injections way back when. I guess I was too young at the time, and she didn't discuss it with me, so all I know is that she did them. Sorry I don't have more info about it. Wherever you end up living, make sure they treated the structure for mold after Katrina, especially if it had to be gutted and rebuilt. My dad is now swearing by Zyrtec, but I tried it and it zonked me out. If I'm diligent, I can pretty much keep under control with Claritin-D. I do have to resort to sudafed once or twice a year though.

Clarinex-D is what I've been on for the last year. Every. single. day. I have to be taken off it though; I can't have sudafed anymore because my blood pressure was really high...for the second time. Crazy thing though...it's only high on the days I go there straight from work. It's like 160 over something when I get there, so they test it again an hour or so later....and its normal, like 115. :confused3

Zyrtec is the new one...but last time I tried it, it put me to sleep too. :confused3 I will behave and try it again.

Next step is housing...:headache: Worked a bit on that with Cara....need to think some more about it with DH and go from there....

And this apartment will likely be gutted when I move out. They have been gutting most, if not all, of the apartments as they are vacated. It's been really, uh, FUN, to live in a building that is being gutted unit by unit for the last year or so. Water randomly gets shut off...bug problems get worse, then less, then worse, etc...noisy....69. More. Days. Of. This. Apartment.
(And NO, it was not this bad when I moved in.)

I already wrote this on FB, but I'm measuring almost three weeks too big again at my Dr appt this morning! :scared: So my Dr said that if I'm still measuring big at my next appt in two weeks, she'll do an ultrasound to see if he is indeed a "Godzilla baby" (her words), and if so, then my due date will be moved up to the last week of May! :scared1: It's only a week bump up from my c-section scheduled on June 3rd, but it feels so much sooner!

I'm getting excited for you!! Did you pick a name? I thought I saw one before but can't remember.

hey y'all thanks for the prayers and well wishes - they obviously worked!!

What fantastic news. I love hearing that people are moving to New Orleans.

Judging from the comments I've gotten, this is apparently not a common thing to do....:confused3

I'll work on the emergency list as soon as I have time, if someone else has time on their hands I'll pm you the info.

I need to send you info. Now, and again in July. ;)

Thanks everyone for missing me! I've missed y'all too. Say prayers that I make the right decision tomorrow. I'm still scared but mostly I want to make everything go as smoothly as it can for everyone. It would be easier for Angelina & Chris if I can wait til July.

 Prayers will be said. And of COURSE we missed you!

Goodnight everybody!

Ladies I am so excited! Kurt jr will be starting PreK in August!!!! It is a limited program so I was afraid he wouldn't get in, but he did!!!

Congrats! Finally we're getting some good news. Seems like last week was all bad. Depending on what job Piglet got, she might be teaching him. ;)

lots to discuss :)
Uh...YEAH I took it!! And yes, it appears to be everything I was looking for. It's a pull-out ESL position. :goodvibes

Oh, well disregard my last post. You probably won't be teaching Kurt. But glad it is what you wanted.

They always tell me I have low BP, but I always go on my day off...that could VERY WELL explain your high BP :rotfl:

Ug, I can imagine. I was in a tiny dump ("renovated" back yard shed) before I bought the house and by the last couple of days, I COULD NOT WAIT. I was so disgusted with the place. Top and bottom faces of the window unit fell off. Themometer dial fell off. Fridge leaked. Tub leaked - yeah, the tub :sad2: You should make a move-out count down chain! :lmao: I was SO happy when I closed that door behind me for the last time. I swear it felt as good as leaving for Disney.

Good morning ladies.

Stephanie congrats to Kurt Jr. for getting in to Pre K. :thumbsup2

Lorie how are you feeling? I guess it you were due in the mid to end of June and they moved you up a week it wouldn't feel too early but being the beginning of June and moving up a week puts you in a whole new month. Time flies. I'm sure once Sienna sees her little brother all those feelings she's been having will be gone. Good luck!

Kristina how are you today?

Colin and I saw Monsters vs. Aliens yesterday and we really only thought the movie was ok. The theater we go to in Mandeville only played it in 2D so we didn't get to wear the cool glasses. I know my sister saw the movie in Slidell and it was 3D. Maybe that took some of the coolness of the movie away for us. :confused3

Ladies I am so excited! Kurt jr will be starting PreK in August!!!! It is a limited program so I was afraid he wouldn't get in, but he did!!!

Congratulations! I can't believe he's old enough to be in preK.:)

WOW, Tricia you're almost at the 1 month mark for your vacation!:cool1:

Yep and it isn't getting here fast enough. Just yesterday I started buying things for the trip and got out my big Mickey tote bag and started loading it up. :thumbsup2

Morning Y'all,

Stephanie, Congrats on Kurt getting in the program you were hoping for.:cool1: Is that a 3 yr old program already? No he can't be that old yet!

Tricia, 1 month, 4 days & counting! :goodvibes Sounds like you can't wait another minute.

Bethany, Congrats again! I think you are going to really like your new job & being a real Nola girl!
On your allergies, I was able to stop the weekly allergy injections about 2 1/2 yrs ago. I'm using zyrtec, flonase nasal inhaler for the sinuses and advair & (the new crappy) albuterol for asthma. Knock on wood it's been working pretty well, only a couple of sinus infections a year. Advair has been amazing for my asthma, have you tried that?

Kat, How is Kyle doing?

Well I went to bed last night decided on June, then woke up this morning thinking May was best! :sad2::upsidedow But this decision will be made today!

Hi everybody! I need a quick favor.

I've got a friend who's part of an out-of-state bachelorette party headed to NOLA this weekend.

She's asking for a place to eat that can handle a party of 16. Local food preferable, $25 plate / max, decent variety to handle "picky" eaters. Close to Bourbon (obviously) if possible. Casual would be better since they'll be ready to .... enjoy themselves (ahem).

I'm not sure of transportation arrangements, so go ahead and suggest CBD or Warehouse District, & I'll let them decide if they want to hoof it / cab it / etc.

I've already warned them about Jazz Fest.

I suggested Gumbo Shop, but 16 might be tough. Mulate's would be fun, and could handle the crowd, but it's not close.

Any suggestions?

Kristina, do you need any help with Grayce?

thanks so much for the offer - you are such a sweetie! I think she is ok - I have to get her social calendar back in gear and let her see some friends today...Jeff was off these last few days so he was able to get her from school.

Kristina, I am soo glad you are okay! Prayers that the pain stays gone for good! I'm know you must have been really scared but also really glad they kicked you out the door.

praying that you can wait until July...actually praying that it heals completely and you don't need ANY surgery!

Thanks for the prayers for Kmores.

I hope I did not say too much, just wanted prayers for you to be okay, chic! Missed lunch with ya too, but I could tell on our phone call this morning that you felt bad.

Lori
I was SO looking forward to lunch..more annoyed than anything that I had to go do all that. I have a serious fear of doctors and needles. and sad I missed my gal lunch. oh well there will be other days! it was killing me not having access to a computer and my phone quit working dialing out....so I literally had to get up out the bed and go across the room to use the phone on the wall to call anymore. and I don't know anyones' phone numbers anyway, so it was a definite balancing feat! thanks for posting it though and letting everyone know.

I noticed. If somebody visits NOLA and doesn't notice, they have something seriously wrong with their observation skills. :lmao: I do have a slight NEED for clothes though. Like...now. Metairie was voted one of the top 100 cities to live in! so was Mandeville. again, I will sacrifice to go shopping with you! and it is going to be in the mid 80's this week.

Ladies I am so excited! Kurt jr will be starting PreK in August!!!! It is a limited program so I was afraid he wouldn't get in, but he did!!!

yay! I am so excited for you! miss seeing you - hope work is going well

Good morning ladies.

doing a little better thanks! lot of medicine to take. yuck. we saw MvsA last week in 3-D. had to pay an extra $4 per person to watch it that day, so tix for 2 were $17. special 3-D effects didn't really seem all that great, and we didn't even get to keep the 3-D glasses. prob won't bother to do it again.

tell them to go to http://frenchquarter.com/dining/directory.php?category=Dining&subcategory=Creole+/+Fine+Dining - they can check out all the dining based on the type of food they are looking for. ralph & Kacoos, Masperos, bubba gumps, hard rock cafe, margaritaville - all on decatur - we go down there just to eat at Margaritavill with our daughter - not very pricey and neat atmosphere. suggest they call first with a reservation so they can be ready for them! mm now I am hungry..can only eat eggs, grits and jello :(

kmores - thanks for the link! I thought about Margaritaville, but then they threw in the "local" food request. I forgot about Ralph & Kacoos. I briefly skimmed back & realized you had quite a day yesterday! Glad everything worked out, and I hope it's one of those :confused3 moments that doesn't repeat itself.

Shovan - good news seems to be going around. I know it's a big decision you make today, and I'm hoping all this worrying will be a distant memory soon.

Lori - May! Good thing Sienna is growing so quickly. It sounds like mom is going to need big sister Sienna's help dealing with "Godzilla Boy"!

Got to run again - my schedule has been so topsy turvy this week!
