Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Ladies, I'm going to ask for prayers again.

Rie has been dating this boy who is very possessive. I've tried to maintain a balance so that I don't make him out to be the bad guy. She seemed to be hanging out more with her friends. However, he would call bunches while she was with them. They told me they were aggravated by him.

Tonight, she told me that I've been pressuring her. I will admit that I try to get her to study and do her homework. I told her that if cheering is too much with school that she could talk to her moderator and explain that she needed to quit.

She packed her bag and said that if I don't change she's leaving. What she means by me changing is that the boy wants to come over every day and I don't want him here that often. I have to say that now I have a BIG resentment against him. I told Tim that I think she wants a boyfriend, so I'm being fed to the wolves.

Rie and I had been getting along so well lately. Anyway, my heart is broken because I really don't know what I can do to be a better mom.

EEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You guys! CATS is coming!
:dance3::dance3::dance3:

And my mom is gonna buy us tickets!
:dance3::dance3::dance3:

I :lovestruc:love::lovestruc:love: CATS.

lori - sorry to hear ya'll are battling the sinuses. My whole family suffers with it. I've been at it with this stuffy/runny nose for the last two and a half weeks. Hope Haley is feeling better.

:flower3: and  to all the sick kids

tigerkat - how's kyle doing? need an update over here :)

Rie'smom - she's leaving, huh? Where's she going? Is her bf's mom gonna let her stay at her house? Not to make light of the situation, but having recently been that age myself, I think she's just being a little bit of a brat. She probably thinks she loves this guy, and he's probably pressuring her to be against you. Tell her to ask her friends what they think of the guy. Tell her that they will tell her the truth b/c they are her friends and they love her (as opposed to you, who I'm sure probably "hates her" and is "just trying to ruin her life." I mean, how DARE you expect her to do her homework and study? :rotfl:).

by time i went to respond everyone else had good stuff t say and it was all resolved! yay!
Serena don't worry abotu it - I would also almost rather have it and get it over with before next year

I want to see Cats SO bad. 5th grade did that as their play last year and G went NUTS over it. i can't really afford it but I am going to try to buy tix. I also bought tix for Sun PM at Boo at hte Zoo....there is also a breakfast with the Otters 9/26 I would like to go to but no $$ :( maybe we will be blessed and get out of this horrble hole. if anyone knows someone who needs a DJ or wants to take karate.... teh refi is supposedly not going through because this idiot is suing the complex. GRRR:headache:

ugh - priced tix for Sunday matinee of Cats - almost $150 for 2 tix! :scared1: tix rae only $60 but is a convenience charge of almost $11 then a processing charge and a fee to get the tix mailed to you...SHEESH!

maybe I can can give someone money to just buy us the DVD...

okay - ya'll are just going too fast all of a sudden. By the time I get around to posting its all been said:rotfl:

DH and DD would like to go see Cats and Wicked, but don't know if they will. I guess the cost of the tickets will be the deciding factor. $150, wow :scared1:- I think I'll save my pennies for Disney.

Serena -glad Aly is feeling better.

Julie - glad things are worked out this time around with Rie. Wish I could say its over, but you are gonna keep dealing with this for a while, drama and all!

Lori - hope you are feeling better soon, and that your trip does not get impacted.

Lorie - seems that I started my kids on cereal at a fairly young age. Unfortunately that was so long ago, I can't remember the exact ages:lmao: Glad to here you are getting the underside of the house insulated. I sure don't miss my house in Lakeview for that reason. Winters were a pain!! After the storm, when I was replacing bedding, I bought 3 blankets for our bed. We only use one of them, since it never gets that cold in our new home:cloud9:

Jamie, I'm excited about the upcoming broadway series. We bought season tickets and Cats is an add on. I think we will get tickets for that one too. I am just so happy to have this back. Going to the Saenger for a broadway show has always been the ultimate treat for me. Throw in a good meal with it, and I'm in heaven:littleangel:

Unfortunately I only made it to the Saenger twice. Once for Cats and once for Phantom. My dad said he'd go see Phantom with us, so my mom bought an extra ticket, but then he backed out and we had to take my grandma. She then proceeded to unwrap mints the entire time and insisted on loudly offering me one every time! :headache:

There are some cheaper tickets. It's ok to be up higher. When we saw Cats in the Saenger, my mom waited so long to get the tickets that we were sitting up by the statues in the ceiling! I still loved it.

you and I both! my mom brought me to see Phantom and Cats too! they will always be dear to me because those were her favorite shows. I *SO* wanted to go to Houston to see Phantom but I am sure it will come around again. there is just no way we can go to Disney for Thanksgiving this year ...i would love to take G to see Wicked also. was going to get the season tix before all the money craziness :( hopefully things will pick up

Hey y'all!

Rough day!! Erik had a temp of 101.1 this morning, so we went to the dr and they ran a bunch of tests (which was absolutely awful to witness :sad1:). So far, nothing bacterial showed up and his white blood cell count was fine, so we're waiting for the flu test results to come back (:scared1:). The ped said if it is the flu, she doesn't want to give him Tamiflu and thinks he should ride it out. She said the FDA just approved Tamiflu for babies that young, but she doesn't feel comfortable with it (and neither do I really). If he had the flu and looked really awful, she would prescribe it, but he seems to be handling whatever it is he has really well. She thinks it is probably something viral, so we'll see. Poor little guy looked awful this morning, but he's looking better this afternoon after some Tylenol and some sleep.

Seems that the general consensus here is to start the cereal a little early...:rolleyes1 I may have to slip a box in my cart the next time I'm at the store! It seems silly to me that one day is too early to start solids, but 24 hours later is just fine? Why not start them when the baby seems like he needs a bit more substance in his diet? It really should just vary from baby to baby....

Kristina- We may be going to Boo at the Zoo on Sunday too! DH wants to go on Friday, but since we're going to Sesame Street Live the Thursday night before, I'd rather go on Sunday night (I can't handle that much fun two nights in a row...;))

Serena- Glad Aly is feeling better!

Julie- Thanks for the boo!

Bethany- You almost took my house out with one of the eyes on your Crescent City smiley face...:rotfl:

Update: Flu results are negative, so it is probably just a virus. I have to call tomorrow for the rest of the test results, but it doesn't look like it is anything serious- whew!!

I'm sorry Erik is sick:hug:.

When my older son was a baby- almost 34 years ago:scared1:- the doctor said to start feeding at 1 week! I started him on rice because it is the easiet to digest and he did fine. By the time the other 2 were born, it was the 4 month deal which I never followed and they did fine too.

Lorie - I'm so sorry little Erik is sick, praying it's not the flu. I say slip that rice cereal in that basket soon.;)

Thank goodness Lori....Whew.

Well DD is starting to sass and annoy me so she is definately back to normal this evening. She's just a little congested. Its amazing how she feels 2 days later.

It's amazing how sassing and annoying are good things sometimes.;) Will she be going back to school tomorrow?

Lorie, I'm glad its not the flu and I hope he starts feeling better really soon. In case I haven't told you--I love his new picture on your signature. He looks like such a happy little one.

We saw "Wicked" in Los Angeles last year on our vacation and we LOVED, LOVED it. After the show was over, we waited backstage to get cast autographs. We don't usually do that, but Erica was so excited to get her program signed and photographs. She can't wait until it comes here and plays the music over and over again on her cd player. I've been knows to listen to the "Wicked" sound track in my car too:rolleyes1

Jamie, I had to laugh at your post. That so sounds like something my grandmother would have done:lmao:

Yes it is....:lmao:. I will watch her the remainder of the day but I think she's fine to go back. I will let her sit out of gymnastics practice this week though.

Sorry...:rotfl2: Guess I should have asked you if you wanted lakefront property. :lmao:

I have not seen any of the five Broadway shows that are coming here. We have discussed getting season tickets. I think maybe we should do more than just discuss. I did see In the Heights, Lion King, Mary Poppins, and some off Broadway stuff. It's so expensive. A single ticket to Lion King in the back row in NYC can run you $60. Season tickets here for four shows are $112 I think for the cheapest ones.

I need to look into this Boo at the Zoo thing. I got an email about it today but haven't read it yet.

Yesterday I was reading the NYC news (yes...I still do that :rolleyes1) and they said they think as much as 10% of the NYC population (800,000+ people!) had the swine flu last spring. I think I may have had it. Remember that time I ended up in the ER in late May? They told me it wasn't swine flu because my temperature was too low; the never actually ran the test for it. :confused3 (The DID, however, run a pregnancy test...cuz, ya know, the symptoms are like...the same. :headache:)

Channel 6 just showed temperatures of 28 in Belle Chasse! :lmao: Somebody transposed some digits on the map! :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Hey gals- not feeling better today:guilty: but it was worse today ONLY b/c i didn't sleep well last night at all. I woke up to every stinking noise in my house:mad:.

Anyway- I got another call from an agent today that wants to show the house- so we'll see if HE shows up.

Kathy- didn't you start the list of info from most of us? My email has changed so i can PM you that to change it on the info sheet. i did change it on FB- at least I am in the process. Those pirates ask lots of questions just to change an email address.pirate:

Sheryl- I am keeping up with the vitamins!

Oh and north of Houston is looking much better than NW, accding to DH! he says it is hilly and woodsy and a big lake- and there is a walmart and target all nearby-now THAT is my kinda country living!

Lori

Lori - Sorry you're still not feeling well. Yes, I have the master contact list, so if you pm me your new e-mail address I'll update it and forward it to everyone on the list.
