Mentally Preparing: A Focker, A Croc & Waldo hit POFQ! Trip Report Link is UP!

I just love hearing everyone's lingo!

Sorry to hijack your thread DLM! But, if you are already packing, how are we going to entertain ourselves til August?

So last night, in my boredom, I decided to get my vacation clothes together. Yeah, I know I still have 3 months to go, but if I'm going to need anything, I better do it quick as they summer clothes will be gone by June. They set out the Fall line in July! I KNOW! :sad2:
Again, same thing here. Yes, it's 95 degrees and 100% humidity, but the malls are cooled to a chilly 60 to encourage sweater and boot sales in August.

That brings my total CROCS purchase to 11!!
Wait... is that your family total, or your's alone?? That's a whole lotta Crocs!

So now I just need to hit Old Navy for some long tanks and wait for my CROCS to show up and the vacation wardrobe is complete, baybee!!!
Aren't ON's tanks the best?

I laughed so hard when he told me that "catchers" are the mesh panty things attached to the inside of the shorts! :rotfl2:
:lmao: I never knew that - I've always called them "panties"!

I hang up the phone and The Enabler asks me what she said. I relay the conversation to her and she starts laughing and then tells me: "Norma just told you that so you don't call her and bug her anymore. Basically she's telling you your a pain in her butt!" Can you believe that?? :rotfl2:
Could this be payback for not being sensitive to her HP, maybe?! ;)
Ok,I have 0 pairs.I just cant get over the fact that I personally (JMO)dont find them cute.Although the capri ones do look cute and comfy. Does the comfort factor outweigh the not so cute factor? YES!!They look like your foot would get all sweaty in there, do they??Not for me, though I've heard others say so.They also look kind of klunky or heavy, like I might fall over with them on,Nope - they're so light it almost feels like nothing on your foot![

I only have the Athens style, which is just like a flip-flop. I personally don't like anyother style. I haven't seen any of the new styles, except the Capri and the Mary Jane. I'm a flip flop girl, so the Athens are perfect for me. I can walk all day at DLand with those bad boys on! :thumbsup2 When I get my MJ's, I'll let you know honestly how they look and feel.
So funny - the Athens was pure torture to my feet and I never wore them out of the store! But that's why they have a Croc for every foot now, right?! :thumbsup2

I have 1 luggage with everyone's shoes!! :lmao: I'm only taking my lime, blue, & black Athens, & Brown MJ's, DH will only pack 2 pairs of Vans (1 brown, 1 black) and 1 pool flip flops and Maddie will take 3 pairs of Crocs & 1 pair flip flops and Evan 2 pairs of CROCS. I just re-read this....someone please tell me they bring that many shoes! :lmao:
Let's see... for me: blue Niles, brown Mary Janes, Lime Beach Crocs; $2 flips for pool and TL; cute flips for dinners. For DS: Lime Crocs; blue Crocs; sandals; flips for pool; water shoes for TL. I'd say we're on the same wavelength!
And yes, a carbonated beverage is a POP here.....not soda.......not Coke......
BLESS YOU!!!!! I haven't heard (or been able to use) "Pop" in 15 years! Music to my ears....
Oh, and an oval shaped sandwich is a "sub", not a hoagie or grinder. ;)

Oh wow! That's so cool. I never really knew what a tank top was either. So glad Jo asked! :thumbsup2 I dunno about Jo but I kinda thought a tank top looked like this.........

Ooh Ooh I love pics am a visual gal myself.
Very cute!!
In NJ would call that a vest, and prob wear it over another shirt.:confused3
Thanks!!

Ok speaking of the lingo thing. How many of you out there use the term bubbler for water fountain?? I have always wonder that. When ever we travel out of state I have my kids ask someone where the bubbler is and we get the weirdest looks! :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Slatey,
They are called suckers here. You get to call them lollipops??? I once asked someone how they were and the response I got was "I'm tighter than a hair in a biscuit."

I still don't know how he was that day.

Crazy South Carolinians.

:lmao: :rotfl:
Yep Tracy are you going to model one of those round Disney :rotfl2:

Yes. But when worn by a male aren't they called wife beaters?
What? :confused3 :lmao:

Ha! Jo is translating English! While on the subject, we call them tennis shoes (actually pronounced tinna shoes......not sure anyone in southwest VA actually PLAYS tennis):rotfl:

And yes, a carbonated beverage is a POP here.....not soda.......not Coke......
AND the number 10 is correctly pronounced TIN, much to the dismay of Hooked on Phonics teachers everywhere.

Uh.......what thread are we on here?
:rotfl2: This is all so funny, we call pop fizzy and of course your fries are our chips and our crisps are your chips KMIM? :rotfl:

/
Oh, and only tourists and seniors wear tennis shoes or sneakers, locals wear flips flops, or skater shoes or if your live on the west side or OC, you wear designer heels with everything. :rotfl2:

Wow--I'd have to go shopping or accept the designation as tourist--I don't tan anyway, so I guess I wouldn't look Californian anyway...and my accent would give it away...
(we were all confused on last season's Idol when everyone out there was laughing at Kelly Pickler's accent!):confused3

And we're always "fixin" to do things...when I moved to Boston for school they never understood me when I said this...they were like, what are you fixing? ;) But I never could get over that they called sandwiches "grinders". Too graphic, IMO. :)

:
Yeah! It took TWO months of living in Connecticut to figure out the whole grinder thing-----and ya know, SUBWAY was even founded there! Makes no sense.

How many of you out there use the term bubbler for water fountain?? I have always wonder that. When ever we travel out of state I have my kids ask someone where the bubbler is and we get the weirdest looks! :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

PLEASE don't ask that when traveling through SW VA--I have no idea what you would be directed to but it might be funny--people are very friendly here and would keep directing you to someone else "down yonder road were the old red light used to be":lmao:

Ah--I will let BA (DD10) know that--her last quote when walking by Rose and crown area: "why would you eat potato chips with fish?" Still trying to picture the TANK thing--is it like a jumper?

Aren't ON's tanks the best?
They are!! I bought a grip of them last year and the held their shape beautifully. I also bought 2 from New York and Co. and they stretched out and got all wangy on me. Sticking to ON's this year! :thumbs2:

So funny - the Athens was pure torture to my feet and I never wore them out of the store! But that's why they have a Croc for every foot now, right?! :thumbsup2
Really?? They hurt your feet? I know some people have a problem with the between the toe thing, but all I wear are flips, so I'm really used to it. :confused3

Oh, and an oval shaped sandwich is a "sub", not a hoagie or grinder. ;)
They're subs here, too. But unless it's a Panini, people here are too stuck up to admit to eating it! :lmao:

Hey, can I join in the fun ?? Wow 47 pages and she hasn't left yet.
You guys are so funny.
I have heard so many people talking about how they love their crocs. My boys have a pair but I don't know if I would like them.. do they make your feet sweat? I have become kinda attached to my "tenni shoes" .

BTW: Until 2 years ago I lived in New Orleans.. so here's some N'awlins lingo for ya.

A long sandwich on french bread w/lots of meat = PoBoy

cooler= ice chest

What kind of sale do you have on a front lawn? == garage sale

bubbly carbonated drink = soft drink

sauce to go on top of spaghetti = Red gravy

the thing you push when you're "makin' groceries" = buggy

thats all I can think of now.. Oh does anybody eat grits for breakfast??

Just a quickie Shopping carts are called Trollies!
We call them baskets! I forgot that one!
Naughty girl? Me?
:rolleyes1
