Memory Maker - link before you get to the parks!

I did really like Memory Maker, but I learned one important tid bit. Definitely have it linked to our Magic Band before arriving in the parks.

I purchased Memory Maker a few weeks before arriving in WDW. I choose the will call option, which was my first mistake. Definitely order it with enough time to get in the standard mail, or choose FedEx. It's worth the extra $15 to have it linked before time if you have to go the FedEx route.

Someone suggested I call and ask them to link it before I got to the parks, and I did call twice, but both times they told me they couldn't do it, and once I got to the parks I could have it linked. They said any pics taken by the photographers would go on my Magic Band, and then once MM is linked, it would show up there.

My first day in the parks (Epcot) I had a 8:10 Akershus ADR, and didn't make it to Guest Relations to link the MM until the end of the day. Once I got to Guest Relations, they gave me the MM card, and told me to go to the Camera Center for the pictures to be linked. I went to the Camera Center, and they told me they could not link them, and I had to set up the account and then they would link, and sent me back to Guest Relations. I went back there, and she told me they should link up. I ended up going outside, using my iPhone and linking my MM to the MDE app, then saw that the pictures had shown up. I didn't want to leave the park without those pictures being linked, because the Camera Center guy told me if they didn't link up while there, I would loose those pictures.

Thankfully it appeared they all linked correctly.

The next day my nephew did Jedi training at HS. The photographer gave me a photopass card, and told me to take it to Guest Relations to have them linked to the Magic Band/MM. I thought "oh great, here we go again." I guess in this situation since there were so many kids, they just give you a photopass card of the whole training (which I found out all of this later.) Guest Relations told me they couldn't link it, and I had to go over to "Cover Story." The nice lady there knew exactly what she was doing, pulled up all of the pictures from the training, asked me to find my nephew, then linked any picture he was in to my Magic Band.

Besides those two things, Memory Maker was great! The photographers would take the pictures, then scan your Magic Band. Each night I checked for our pictures and they were there. Just got home last night so I haven't downloaded them yet, but there was a download button so I assume that is how you save all of them. I know we had over 100 pictures at one point, and the good thing is I was able to be in some of them, since I am the main photographer on our trips. :)

OK, I added MM to my Package, am I already linked? I am just not understanding this one....

I linked it at home with my confirmation number but stopped at the guest services desk at the contemporary hotel to pick up the card (off site no MB) and had her look over everything before our character meal on our first day. Turns out I missed one step and she fixed it. She said that any guest service person at any hotel can always link or fix any issues.

No standing at guest relations in the MK for me.

I think we ended up with 3 different photo pass cards. One from Enchanted Tales with Belle, one memory maker card (our main card since no MB's) and one photo pass card that DH got when we split up and he got is picture taken a couple times.

I was able to take all of them and individually type in their card numbers on the photopass website and link them all to our 1 memory maker account. Super easy.

Here is the website for linking various cards and what not to your MM account. I soley used this website and didn't even mess with trying to see my pictures on MDE.

Did you receive the card with the 16 digit number, and link that to your Magic Band? If you did, you should be set. When you go on MDE and click on MM, you should see your profile set up. Once you start getting pictures taken, they will show up with each park as a different tab.

I did not receive the card, but the 16 digit code is under MM on MDE.

I think since it was a package deal that it is all linked up, right???

That's great all of yours worked out. :) I did end up with some photo pass cards as well, and kept the Jedi training one just in case anything happened. Luckily though my MM seemed to get all of the pictures in the right spot. :)

Oh gotcha, are you one of the lucky ones that received the free MM? If the code is there and it appears linked up you should be ok. If you want to check before the pictures start being taken just check with your resort, or try Guest Relations. I just didn't have much luck with Guest Relations, and did better with the Camera Center at Epcot or Cover Story at HS. I didn't need to check at MK or AK so I am not sure what the alternative to Guest Relations is in those parks.

When I changed our package to include the free MM I was advised nothing would be mailed and I would receive it when I check in. I was also advised to link it right away after receiving it. I was also told it won't show on MDE until it is linked. My package shows that it is with free MM though. I'm kind of scared now if everyone is receiving it in the mail. Maybe its because I'm in Canada? :confused3

If you received it free, it sounds like it might already be linked to your package, but definitely check that out. I had to pay for mine, and when you do that, they mail you a card or give you the number when purchasing it for you to link to your account. Maybe if it's free they link it for you?

If you don't receive it until you get there, definitely link it right away. The Camera Center guy was very clear that you need to link it as soon as you receive that card, because if you don't and loose it, someone will take that number and link it to their account and have a free MM. So just make sure you link it through a iPhone or however you can do it as soon as you get the card.

It's definitely not showing in MDE. I will call & verify I was given the right information.

Check MDE on a desktop computer as I have realized that the phone app is not right about 50% of the time. But yeah, definitely call and ask about it. You want to have it right before your trip. :)

Hmm..this thread has got me nervous now too! When I booked our package back in January I purchased Memory Maker. I was told that I would not receive anything, but the MM would be "waiting for me at check in". I really don't want to waste precious park touring time setting this up! :( So, if I'm understanding correctly, the code is what I'd be receiving at check-in and then is there some thing else that I would need to go to theme park guest services for? I'm so confused!:confused3

Thanks!

-Kelly

When I ordered MM online I got an email with a confirmation number. I was able to link Memory Maker to my MDE account using that confirmation number. I hope that's all I needed to do!

I purchased it with my package. On My Reservations on MDE at the bottom it says Memory Maker and there is a 12 digit confirmation number. I don't recall receiving an email. Am I all set or do I need to do something else?

First time I've ever used the photopass service of any kind, really hope I don't have problems.

I have the same package with free MM and do not have a code either. KNovacovshi, please let us know how you make out when you call so I can figure out if I need to call also.

I'm hoping I can have it all set up before we leave too!

Thanks!

We purchased the Memory Maker ahead of time - along with our resort tickets - and linked it to our magic bands. That seemed like the right thing to do. So now, when we show up at the park, everything is already linked together.

It worked great - and our confirmation number is RIGHT ON THERE.

I will call tomorrow and let you know. I don't understand how if you purchase it you receive a code before hand but if you get it with the package you don't receive it until check in. Sounds weird to me. :confused3

It does seem like it's all very confusing, and my sister and I said why can't this just be an easier process. If you don't receive a code to link it before arriving, they should give you the MM card at check in, then just use a smart phone or computer to link it to your MDE account before going into the parks. For me, they told me I had to link it, and they couldn't do it for me. Luckily I have an iPhone and just went into my account and linked it.

If you received the code and have linked it to your account, that should be all you have to do. Once I linked mine, I was ready to go. My problem was that I didn't get the code until I was in the Park because I choose the Will Call option.
