Surprised to see that there are no topics about McCain's Speech! What a great Speech. I had tears in my eyes as he discussed his time in Hanoi.... Where he was broken by his captors and brought back by his fellow captors. What a hero!!! He gave so much for this country! He is such a Hero

He only lives in the past and his "Hanoi" time is way back in the past.

Full respect to the guy for what he's been through, but in my opinion this does not speak to whether he'll be a good president or not. There are lots of heros out there, but would you seriously want them to be the next potential president?!!

I would rather one of them that Obama with NO experience. Did you see the poor man on O'reilly?! He bumbled through the whole thing, bless his heart. I need a decisive and no holds barred president - McCain!

His record as a Naval Officer, Congressman and US senator and his VP selection speak to whether he would be a good president. Obama? Truthfully, not much record.

McCain has passed the test many, many times. Obama hasn't even taken it.

WEll, when McCain was serving his country and sitting in a prison cell, Obama was enrolled as a Muslim in a school in Indonesia. You know, growing up with midwestern, Kansas values!

Ask Karl Rove what he thinks about McCains POW experience.

No doubt McCain was a hero during his service. It's been a while since we had one running for president.

I'm not sure I'd want to choose a president based on just that however.

He's not war happy, he endured a lot of scrutiny because he didn't agree with Reagan's plan to send marines into Lebanon. McCain was right btw.

While I completely admire McCain for his service to country he's not my pick for president. I think he's gotten less "maverick" and more like Bush lately. I respected him more when he used to piss off the Republican establishment. Now, he just seems to tow the party line, KWIM? And his choice of Palin is very disapppointing.

Being a "hero" doesn't mean you're qualified to run America. We've had eight years of "the man everyone would like to have a beer with" and look where that's gotten us. Only fools would substitute one characature for another and believe that the country is going to get better because now we have a "hero". Isn't doing the same thing and expecting different results the definition of insanity?

In watching the RNC, I can totally understand where these fools come from and I'm quite relieved that the Obama/Biden ticket is going to get the young voter out to vote.

I agree he showed determination and bravery in a terrible war. I don't agree that character is related to bravery. Bravery in and of itself isn't character. Spartans were brave and they left their less-than-perfect newborn children to die on the side of a mountain. John McCain showed great bravery and he came home to a less-than-perfect wife and abandoned her. He has mistreated Cindy McCain (whom I admire for her compassion and commitment) verbally in public. He spent years and years away from his family while she did the hard work in the trenches raising their children. He has used ethnic slurs and told reprehensible jokes about just about everyone. A man who wants to lead ALL of America doesn't seem to like people very much. He has anger issues. His bravery in Vietnam is to be admired, but the rest of his character is sorely lacking.
