Maybe, Kinda Sorta, I Don't Know If I AM Going to Run in February

Just wanted to let you know that I am still around...I know we text off and on during the week. But I am looking at your PTR! I am so excited for you! And you know what, I had to have the same incentive...because the scale is not helping keep me on track...so I have WDW in the fall, the race and YOU GIRLS keeping me going!

I am sorry that pesky scale isn't helping! I wish it were. However, there are worse ways to achieve that incentive! Actually, for me... being able to do the event and have fun with you gals is BETTER incentive for me than the scale.

It never fails, my busy week at work comes and it all but cuts out all of my dis time. I really need to wrap up this PTR since we are almost a couple weeks out! I cant believe that!!!

Let see... a couple things....

Costume -
my hat came and it is very large for a child size. In fact, I have to sinch it pretty tight to get it to fit on my head. So it works. :cool1: I had got a couple head bands too... thinking if the hat didn't work, maybe the head band would. :sad2: Wore one on my run yesterday and it managed to fall off about a mile into my run.

I made another skirt and I like it better. I need to trim the bottom better, but overall it would work over the shorts and with the hat

Training -
The elk seem to have gone back up into the hills. While it is nice to see them, I am actually really relieved. I do still get to see some neat things while running though. Today just as I turned out of my neighborhood there in a tree was a young bald eagle. I say young because he/she was smallish and was not with a mate.

Distance wise, I am amazed at how far I am running. For the month of january, I ran 92.7 miles. I think I may just about be ready to call myself a runner.

Mickey Mail/Disney Correspondence -

Mickey Mail came some time ago. Did I mention that? I can't seem to keep anything straight these days. It is always fun to get that mail with luggage tags and your package info.

What I am waiting on though is the bib numbers (and thus corral placement) as well as waivers from rundisney.

Family -

We got some disturbing news this last week. Our doctor of 12 years is closing her practice. For the boys and to some degree, myself it will be an easy transition to a new doc. For Steve and Zoe who have on going medical needs... it will be a challenge. Steve because he is in constant contact with our doc (who quite literally we can walk from our house to her office - if i run it takes me 2 minutes) She constantly is adjusting his medication and such. For Zoe it will mean training up a new doc...literally. She will still have her care team at childrens hospital, but will need a new primary. To put in perspective how uncommon what she was born with is... when I asked her specialist just how many kids a year see in seattle with her condition (keeping in mind that they get sent kids from Montana over and Alaska down) he told me they see just one a year. I don't even bother taking her to the er at any hospital outside of childrens (and even then it does take some explanation) No one knows how to deal with her. So, this is going to be some work finding a doc that can be tactful and is willing to be taught. (believe me not ever doc is either... imagine me taking Zoe to a different doc when our family doc was out once and having that doc utter the words "oh, oh my...she is... she is... different" :headache:)

Other than that, all else seems to be going well. Zoe has her birthday this week. (her 8th) She also is performing in front of the school on friday. :scared::scared: She will be singing... She and a friend are to sing a duet.. but this friend is not nearly as boisterous as Zoe. I suspect in the end it will be Zoe belting it out on stage.

I will try and put together some more updates on both this PTR and my TR some time this week. :goodvibes

Your skirt is so cute!!

Sorry to hear about y'alls doctor though. That definitely sounds like it's going to hard on Steve and Zoe. I truly hope y'all are able to find the best doctors for the both of them. :goodvibes

ok, I really like the skirt and can totally see it with the hat. How fun! Seriously makes me wish I wanted to run.

YAY for running further than you ever thought you could. Double :thumbsup2 for no elk.

But oh I am SO SO sorry to hear about Zoe's doctor. I don't know what her condition is but know how very far Children's is away and can only imagine how hard it is to find the right doctor at home. It's hard here and there is a bazillion to choose from. I wish I had some resources in your neck of the woods, I'd be more than happy to ask my ped if he has any ideas, but he is that, a ped, not a family doc. I didn't realize Steve had ongoing stuff as well.

Sadly I can believe a doctor said something like that. We go to a wonderful group and have a main doc we adore but there is one, just one, that oh....we all avoid. Like the plague.

As I mentioned, I will be getting up early. Very very VERY early. Why? Well, it will be time for

phm_zpsf9b8daa2.jpg

I hope it is ok to borrow that pic... it just too cute.

The last bus that runs from the resort to Epcot that morning is 4am. I don't want to be on a super crowded bus. So I am aiming for 3:30am.

Today corral placements were announced as well as final race instructions. I am actually of mixed feelings regarding both my bib # and the corral that I was then placed into.

There is a total of 8 corrals not including the handful of elite runners that start ahead of time. Corrals A and B are reserved for ONLY princesses. No princes. Corral C then becomes the corral to dump all the fast princes that would normally be in A.

I am a bit disappointed in myself. I have been pretty darn diligent in training. Yet I didn't do "one last race" to get a time to submit. I figured that the one from October would give me a better start than what I had originally submitted. When I saw the time breakdowns today it looked to me as if my estimated finish time had not been updated at all. According to runners world and their race finish time predictor, my October time should have had me in a corral up from the one I was placed in. And if I had succeeded in running a 10k at my current pace... well, that may have even been better. I went ahead and contacted the run disney rep that I had contacted in the past to see what he had updated my time with. Well, he told me he didn't think I would maintain the pace that I had at my 10k so he gave me a finishing time of 2:30. Honestly, that is really good. It places me in C corral. However, another bit of mixed feelings... if he had only put 2:29 I would have been in B. This only matters because there will be all those fast princes trying to get past me in C. The start time between the two is just 7 minutes.

So I will catch that oh so early bus and then wait. Yes... wait. I need to be to my corral by 5am and then my start time is 5:49 am.

There is a 20 minute walk from the corral to the start that gets mixed into that..but I anticipated quite a bit of standing around cold.

The part of my mixed feelings on C corral is that I can not feel like I will be trampled. I do not intend to run this my normal pace. There will be time for pictures and such. I am hoping that I will not need more than 2 minutes per mile average. If I do then so be it. There are characters that are a bit rare that I may want to have my picture taken with. Then there are some that I can run right by.

As the sun comes up, Steve and Zoe will find their way to spectator areas. There is a tool that will aid him in finding where on the route to see me and how to use Disney transportation to get there. All I really care about is that he is there at the finish. If my guesstimate is correct, I should finish no later than 8:49. That is a solid 3 hours. My last 11 mile run I did in 1:52. So if I say a half hour for stops and the extra 2 miles at about 0:10:30, 3 hours should be plenty. ::yes::

Once the race is over, I will make sure to collect all my goodies. I may even get my medal engraved. For those of you who may know how I feel about medals, you might find that strange. It won't be like I intend to display it or anything. The medal still isn't the reason I am doing the race. I would do it without the medal. However, to document my time and (I think) bib number on it might be a nice thing to do. However, I will be a tad pressed for time. You see I will be starving and need breakfast.. And we have a breakfast ADR at

IMG_0435_zps88090e05.jpg

Breakfast is at 10:15. This is going to be hard to get to. I think when I haphazardly made my ADRs, I really didnt think things through. I will be trying to get a slightly later breakfast. (even 15 minutes would help). I have given it some thought (thanks to putting together this post) and decided the only way this is going to work is if I don't check a bag at bag check that I have to retrieve and if Steve brings me a bag with essentials in it. :crazy2: Yep, I am going to have to finish the race and then do a quick "clean up" before starting my day. I am sure it won't be too bad.... but not ideal.

Originally, I thought we finished in Epcot and therefor we could walk out through the international gateway to the BW. :sad2: We will finish in the Epcot parking lot and then we will have to take a taxi over. Now, I am planning on getting an AP and could walk through (since the park opens at 9am) However that leaves Steve and Zoe. Park Hoppers? For the sole purpose of walking through? Probably not. Switch days? Well, I have two ADRs IN Epcot the following day and I want a full day in Epcot. :scratchin Still, that ability to just walk through might be nice... then again after already running a half marathon maybe the taxi is better. ;)

My thought is to hop into a restroom in the lobby area and change before we check in for our ADR. I figure between getting out of the epcot parking lot and catching the taxi we should have at least 30 minutes for me to do this. Too bad we are not staying at BW because then I could get that shower in. ;)

This breakfast is important to me for two reasons. One, Steve ahs never been to Kouzzina. On our last trip, Kat Kora (is that how her name is spelled?) was there signing autographs when we walked by. No one was going into the restaurant so there were people standing outside trying to get people to go in and meet her. We chose not to and Steve has regretted it ever since. Not that she will be there this time, but some how eating there will make up for it a tad. The second reason is that I ate my last post race breakfast here and it was yummy! Wanna see why? Sure ya do
IMG_0431_zps30af0a48.jpg

I haven't even to look to see if that is still on the menu, but I sure hope it is. That combination of salt and protein was PERFECT!

Once breakfast is over we will be headed to
Photo0048FourBySix_zps94b890a1.jpg

I think we will take a nice boat ride over. Once there we will want to do a few of our favorites like
IMG_0393_zps7f2ca733.jpg

for me.

Photo0053FourBySix_zpsf4307cd5.jpg

for Zoe

And since Steve has never ever seen this guy
IMG_2132_zpsb8bf72ba.jpg

we will have to do this as well.

Beyond that I am not sure. I will have been up since 3am, will have walked a mile to a starting line and then ran 13.1 miles. I am sure to be tired and want a nap. ::yes:: (not to mention a shower)

If we have stayed long enough that we are now hungry again we will grab lunch at some cs location. A favorite of mine is Starring Rolls, but I am sure that most of the goodies will be long gone by the time we are hungry. However it will be a first choice...if not we may try Backlot Express. If we do leave before we are hungry (which is quite possible) we will just go back later for lunch after a nap and shower has been had.

So while we will likely return for lunch, we wont probably stay too long. The park is only open until 7pm. This works just fine since we have our dinner planned for 6:30pm at
feature_maya_5a.jpg
(borrowed from internet)

After dinner we will play it by ear. I am probably going to be quite tired and want to just spend the evening in the hot tub/pool and my comfy bed. If for some reason though we have an incredible need to go back out AND we have decided FOR getting park hoppers, MK is open with EMH till 11pm.

Changes to 2/24!!!

I'm exhausted just seeing what you have to do in the morning to get to the run and then to actually do the run. :faint:

I keep forgetting about Koussina's for breakfast...I'll have to try to get that in one of these trips...your meal looks yummy.

We ate lunch at Starring Rolls one time around 1:30 p.m. and they still had plenty of choices.

ok, I really like the skirt and can totally see it with the hat. How fun! Seriously makes me wish I wanted to run.

:rotfl: makes you want to wish you wanted to run. Thanks. I do think this will be the skirt I run in. :goodvibes

Thanks! And yes!!! No elk for a while now.

But oh I am SO SO sorry to hear about Zoe's doctor. I don't know what her condition is but know how very far Children's is away and can only imagine how hard it is to find the right doctor at home. Yep, doctors are still human. Mostly smart humans... but every now and again you get the stupid that crops up in them too. ;)

Sounds like a fabulous day! :thumbsup2

You and me both!

The spinach and eggs and feta is amazing! You should try it!

We ate lunch at Starring Rolls one time around 1:30 p.m. and they still had plenty of choices.

Thanks! That is good to know. In all likelihood, we will eat a bit more like 2:30... maybe later. I will still be sure to check!

I was able to get a later ADR to Kouzzina! I may get to have that shower after all :cool1:

Also, someone pointed out that I will be able to take the Mears bus from the race area to BW. So no taxi... unless we go back to CSR and I shower. Then we will probably hop on a taxi to head to BW.

Getting close!
I didn't have much time to post last week, but I DID read! Can't wait for the 21st ... and can't believe that we will be home when you are running! :sad2:

I think your race day plans look really good, and I am glad you got a little later ADR at Kat...I wanted to to there but they took off the breakfast that I wanted! You know how much I love the BW area...so jealous! I am getting so excited for you!

It is definitely all coming up quick!!! So excited :cool1:

It is crazy though that you will be home when I am running. It doesn't seem right!

Thanks so much. I can't believe I didn't think about how early that ADR was until today. 5 hours should give plenty of time to finish the race, get through to transportation and maybe even get back to CSR to have a quick shower. I will still have Steve bring me a bag...just in case. I mean, if for some reason I get done a bit later than I expect (say 3 hours) and then it takes longer to get out of the race area (say an hour) I would be pushing it to go back and shower. It is possible that I could be done much sooner... but just in case.;)

You'll be here before I know it. What are the dates again? Which day is your Wolfgang puck express lunch?

We arrive 2/20 and leave 2/26. I think we will be eating at Wolfgang puck express on 2/22. Although for some reason cooks of dublin has peaked my interest too. I am just torn since I am wanting to try new things... but I hate to let go of my tried and true.

We really enjoyed Cookes of Dublin! Now, here is what we would do. ;) Share something at Cookes, then take a leisurely stroll over to Downtown Disney and explore (and shop) and then share something at WPE!
Best of both worlds. ;)

After a good nights sleep my hope is that we will be ready to take on Epcot for a long day.

I would like to start by having breakfast at
600-norway-Kringla.jpg

(borrowed from internet)

Being in Epcot for me is more about walking around and enjoying the shops and food. However we will want to ride the new version of

Photo0030.jpg

If we are able to ride Soarin and Spaceship Earth, I will be happy too.

Come lunch time we will be headed to
via-napoli-00.jpg

I think we are just going to split some pizza and get some of those talked about zeppoles.

We may head back to the hotel to swim or nap, but we will head back to Epcot for dinner.

Dinner will be at Chefs de France.

After dinner we will watch illuminations.

It is EMH that night. I am never quite sure what that means for Epcot. Only FW open? WS? Since this is our last park day though we will make good use of the extra time.

We won't have to get up early the next day, so we can stay out late.

Up Next: 2/26 - Day 7
