Maybe, Kinda Sorta, I Don't Know If I AM Going to Run in February

I didn't know that Zoe was doing the kids race? That's awesome!

Glad you have a ride on race day. :thumbsup2

YES YES YES. Adults go down the Jaguar Slide at the Coronado. Trust me, I've been down it several times when Mary and her girls stayed there and on numerous other occasions. :goodvibes

Sounds like a busy day. I didn't know there was a kid's race?

I believe that all run disney events have the "main" a family one and then a kids one. Zoe did the kids one in the fall too.

When going with my parents all those years, we would spend every evening (after dinner at house of blues or rainforest) at Disney Quest before we would close a park for the night. We love DQ!!!

I took a look at what it has to offer and I think it could be a good afternoon activity. I am not sure I would want to pay for it, but since most of the cost will come from our package...we will only have to pay for Zoe and that won't be too much.

I didn't know that Zoe was doing the kids race? That's awesome!

::yes:: We even got her race outfit this week. (and I think as soon as it is done washing I will post a picture of it)

you have a ride on race day. :thumbsup2

Well, I had a ride before (the run disney buses) but now I have someone to ride with.
YES YES YES. Adults go down the Jaguar Slide at the Coronado. Trust me, I've been down it several times when Mary and her girls stayed there and on numerous other occasions. :goodvibes

:cool1: I didnt want to be the dork lining up with the kids. I know we didn't use the slide at WL or POR because we thought it was kids only. Since POFQ was so small and there were not as many people around I felt like I could go for it. (and Zoe kinda insisted :rolleyes1)

Yeah, I think it is going to about kill both Steve and I... but it was cheaper and got us in at a reasonable time (who really wants to land in FL at 11pm?)

No one. We did it once and never again. By the time we got to the resort and settled it was midnight and we still needed to eat as we were on Seattle time. I'd had a grocery delivery to plan for it but it set the tone for the week and we never got off west coast time. Nightmare.

In the middle of no where.. :rotfl2: I am in Enumclaw to be exact. So if you are a skier you might have drove not too far from my house.

Bonney Lake is probably about as close as I've been I think. That's cool it's only an hour to Seatac from there, I'd have assumed longer, it seems like it takes us forever to get to Puyallup and quite a bit longer to Bonney Lake. Stevens is a lot closer to where I live, I've never made it to Crystal and have pretty much given up skiing now (not that I was ever much of one to start with).

I understand why you are running through elk.

I have had some pretty amazing dismeets. I truly think that dismembers are some of the best people in the world! It just became aware to me after my last trip that others may not see me in that same way.

Ah, I know exactly what you mean and well, that sucks. I'm quite confident I'm not as fascinating as I think I am, but it's no fun to have it confirmed, and it has been confirmed for me too. :rotfl:

I think after we do this it might be time to enjoy the pool. I am actually excited about this pool. Now, at POFQ adults went down that slide. I wonder :scratchin do they at CSR? I mean, look at it! (again, borrowed from the internet)
csr_slide.jpg

I've yet to find a pool at Disney that the adults can't go on (in the main pool that is). I'd bet money they go on that one, I know I would want to! They certainly do at the Poly and SAB, not sure why this one would be different. That pool looks amazing.

With the 2013 packages there has been a change. Now Disneyquest tickets are included. (well, 2 per room) as well as mini golf (again, 2 per room) Since we will be in DTD, We may have to check out Disneyquest.

Now that's a cool package perk! I can't stand the place but oh my kids like it and I'm trying to figure that out for tickets for next year as it's a pricey add on. With 5 teenage boys on that trip I don't think we can avoid it.

I have been doing a bunch of changing today. It has me :faint: I have a bit more "work" to do on it and it involves a phone call...so it is the last to happen. (everything else could be rearranged online)

So Steve and I have been speculating that we will in fact not want to totally miss AK and DHS. We still don't want to do a commando trip, but what this means is I have to add 2 if not 3 days. (I only mention 3 because it would only add a little under $40 to the tickets) This is why I have to call. I am pretty sure that since it is "adding cost" to the package we will be ok to make the change within our 45 day window.

This made it so we didn't have to stick so close to resort restaurants. Surprisingly though, I really only moved things around.

No changes were made to 2/20. It still is not showing as our arrival date in the system, but disney assures me that there will not be an issue with check in.

I decided that we should have our meal at the Wave as an early dinner before the firework cruise on 2/21 instead of 2/23. That way we will already be at CR. I allowed us a couple hours. That should be enough, dont ya think?

I made no changes for 2/22. We still will not go to the parks this day. (but this is one day were we could if I added that 3rd day) Breakfast will stay the same and we should still go to DQ. However if we decide that the expo is only a 30 minute gig and DQ wouldn't be but an hour or so then we might forgo DQ that day, use a park ticket and then do DQ on our departure day. (I know..kinda getting ahead of myself here) Dinner also stayed the same.

For 2/23 I now intend to have this as a park day and I changed where we will have dinner. (yes, you will have to wait until I do an actual plan for that day to hear the actual details about it ;))

2/24 will also be a park day but I made not changes to ADRs

2/25 is still a park day but I moved our dinner ADR to lunch. I then added a new ADR for dinner. This would seem to be an extra dp credit used, but in looking at the menu for breakfast the day before, I realized it would be a good time to pay oop.

2/26 then is still our departure day. We will not have to catch DME until 2pm so that gives us a tad bit of time. I have no ADRs planned still, but I am undecided to do a park (if I bought the extra 3rd day and didn't use it on 2/22), DQ or just meander about DTD... or even just lounge about the resort.

Wow, such simple changes. I am not sure how all this took me the better part of a day to come up with.

2/23 - Day 4

No one. We did it once and never again. By the time we got to the resort and settled it was midnight and we still needed to eat as we were on Seattle time. I'd had a grocery delivery to plan for it but it set the tone for the week and we never got off west coast time. Nightmare.

That is what happened to us once. We got in so late and the cm didn't give us great directions to get to our room. We were dazed and confused and walked around the entire resort FOREVER. It set the tone for a while, for sure.

Bonney Lake is probably about as close as I've been I think. That's cool it's only an hour to Seatac from there, I'd have assumed longer, it seems like it takes us forever to get to Puyallup and quite a bit longer to Bonney Lake. Bonney lake is not far from me...maybe 30 minutes. Basically, EVERYTHing is about an hour. I can even (if traffic is good) make it to Seattle (down town) in just under an hour (like 55 minutes) Really though, it takes at least an hour and 15... Further north and it is even longer. When Zoe has her appointments up at Childrens, it can take almost 2 if traffic is bad. :sad2: Seatac though... I can make in 45 if traffic is good... It all depends on traffic.

I don't ski... but I know a lot of people from Seattle come down this way. I see a lot of skiers at the store during these months.
I understand why you are running through elk.

Yeah, but I have not ran into them this much all year. It HAS to be the time of year that they are down from the mountains. Who knows... but I still worry they are going to trample me.

Ah, I know exactly what you mean and well, that sucks. I'm quite confident I'm not as fascinating as I think I am, but it's no fun to have it confirmed, and it has been confirmed for me too. :rotfl:

:rotfl: I know.. I far prefer to think I am fascinating and fun... at minimum nice and easy going. But, aggressive and unsupportive :scared: I hate to be thought of like that. It is bad enough to be thought of in that way..but yes, confirmation from an outside source is NOT pleasant.

It is decided... I WILL be going down that slide them. ::yes::

Now that's a cool package perk! I can't stand the place but oh my kids like it and I'm trying to figure that out for tickets for next year as it's a pricey add on. With 5 teenage boys on that trip I don't think we can avoid it.

It is a neat addition. I would not even consider doing it if it were not "included" The only thing I don't get is why they only add 2 and not the same number as guests.

Isn't that always the case? Once you are done it seems so simple. Getting there though, not so much! They should let you change as long as it's adding cost, we've never had an issue with it. And if they don't, you can upgrade your tickets there. The changes sound good!

Oh I bet, it can be super fast for me to get to Children's, or an hour, it can get ugly over there. It's so inconsistent, I had a lunch in Tukwila today, which I have once a month. It can take 20 minutes...or an hour.

Mine always gets couched as intimidating. Like I'm scary. Or arrogant. Or impatient. Or all of the above :worried: I aspire to be fascinating and fun. Funny might be even better.

It is a neat addition. I would not even consider doing it if it were not "included" The only thing I don't get is why they only add 2 and not the same number as guests.

That is bizarre. The only reason we went there the time we did is it was a summer trip so we had it for the water park. I literally spent hours a couple of weeks ago rying to find some park tickets from 2004 though as they were Hopper + tickets before they had expiration dates so we'd have had water park and DQ days still left. So sad, couldn't find them. We will have to go to DQ on the next trip, I'm resigned. However I may not tell them, and then let that be their xmas present. Not sure and have to confer with the other parents involved. Double ugh.

Looks like you had to "kind of" start over with your plans. Hm, feels familiar! :rotfl2:

Dinner at the Wave before the fireworks cruise sounds nice - I was thinking about that too, but then I guess we can always just pop over to see if they can squeeze us in. ;)

Can't wait to hear all about your ADRs! :thumbsup2

Did you actually add days to the trip, or just add park days to the days you were already going to be there?

I was planning to play it by ear and hope that Steve had a change of heart regarding the other two parks. I knew that we could upgrade once there...and I thought it would work well because I could add one day for him.. two for Zoe.. and an ap for me. In booking the package everyone has to have the same number of tickets...so I thought this would work out best. With Steve now thinking he wants to at least pop into the other two parks I can see that it won't be a "maybe" on him... so I got to thinking that if I change the package I can use my DV and rather than pay it all now (which I could..but I like using other people's money for free) I could reduce how much I have to pay oop when I go to upgrade to the ap for me.

Oh I bet, it can be super fast for me to get to Children's, or an hour, it can get ugly over there. It's so inconsistent, I had a lunch in Tukwila today, which I have once a month. It can take 20 minutes...or an hour.

I think Childrens takes so long for me to get to because I go through the downtown area on I5 and then go through the Udistrict....and those two areas can have traffic just crawling.

I have been meaning to go to Tukwilla! Between the Disney Store and a couple places that I would like to eat at...it is calling to me. Also..that drive is a bit more consistent...baring a cow on 164 (or an accident which truthfully happen more often than the cows) I can make it to Tukwilla in under an hour.

Mine always gets couched as intimidating. Like I'm scary. Or arrogant. Or impatient. Or all of the above :worried: I aspire to be fascinating and fun. Funny might be even better.

I think what matters is do you think you are those things? For me, one of the things that turned my world upside down after the last trip was that I didn't. I have only thought of myself as supportive and easy going. I am a type A personality though...so maybe that comes across at times and I need to work on not being SO type A. KWIM? Still though... I think sometime people just assign characteristics to others when they themselves struggle with some aspect of their own personality.

Bottom line though... and what I finally have come to the conclusion of... doesn't matter if others like me... I need to be ok with me. If someone has an issue with me and I have a problem with it... it is up to me to make changes in myself or decide that they are crazy. ;) Either way, I can only control me.

Well, at least you will have a couple tickets covered..

Looks like you had to "kind of" start over with your plans. Hm, feels familiar! :rotfl2:

Yes.. just a little. At least I had not taken into account park hours yet!

Dinner at the Wave before the fireworks cruise sounds nice - I was thinking about that too, but then I guess we can always just pop over to see if they can squeeze us in. ;)

Well, you know where we will be! I think that there were many slots open...so I bet they could fit you in. :goodvibes

cannont wait to hear all about your ADRs! :thumbsup2

I only added a couple new places and took off the one for Grand Floridian Cafe... but I am happy with the changes (for now :rotfl2:)

Did you actually add days to the trip, or just add park days to the days you were already going to be there?

Just adding tickets. Originally, the thought was that Steve would just come to hang out. He didn't want to do the parks.... slowly though he has changed his mind. I think that we won't comando style it... but it would be sad to miss a few of our favorites..not to mention the new fantasyland.

So originally we were booked for 6 nights with 2 day base tickets....

Ah yes, DV on a package is a fabulous thing, a sad trade off now that we have DVC my ticket purchases, or DDP don't fall into the 6m offer which I love! I'd totally add them to the package in that case!

That stretch thru the U is brutal and unpredictable. I didn't know SC had a Disney store, I haven't been there in forever. I'm almost always disappointed in what the Alderwood store has that I don't go in much any more.

....

I couldn't agree more. I would like to think most of the time I am aware of my flaws. I am a type A with a capital A and I have to be very careful not to expect others to react how I do to things or hold them to the standards I have for myself. My way isn't necessarily right or best for anyone but me.

I was blessed to have a great boss many years ago that really took the time to explain why people might find me intimidating (which just floored me) and since then I've tried to take that to heart personally and professionally and most of the time I think I'm past it.

And them out of nowhere it sneaks up every blue moon. Which maybe is a good thing as it helps to keep me in check. Doesn't bum me out any less though. Bottom line is some are things I need to work on and own, but some times, just some, it may be far less about me and more about something that is going on with the other person.

Trick is looking deep enough to try and be honest and figure out which is which. And, as I tell my kids (one in particular really struggling with this right now) is that at a certain point, even if I didn't mean something a certain way, if the other person took it that way, their feelings aren't invalid even if I disagree.

Yup... it is fairly new. (maybe a little over a year?) It is also fairly small. I think it is smaller than the one in Alderwood. I will need to make my way there in the coming weeks. I try to go to the disney store before each trip. Things are hectic though...so who knows if I will make it.

We will be getting up super early. We will get some breakfast at Pepper Market.
IMG_2177_zps11cdaa3d.jpg

I had wanted PM to still be a buffet and I had wished to go there for lunch. This however, actually works well for breakfast. I just hope we will actually have enough time. I will have a back up plan just in case though. This back up will be to bring some protein/granola bars. These can be eaten quickly as we make our way to and then wait for the bus.

I am not sure what time Zoe will need to be on the bus, but since the race starts at 8:45am I would imagine around 7:30. Zoe is in the same age group as last fall so will be doing the 400 meter dash. This is what it looked like for the ToT kids race.

IMG_2164_zps0aed2f29.jpg

The race is going to be held at Epcot. Since this is her first one there, I am not sure what to expect. I think it will be in the parking lot... but  I also am going to assume we don't need park tickets but again  The final race instructions have not been sent out yet (which is killing me cause I want to plan now!) I will probably bring a change of clothing for Zoe to the race so that we do not have to go back to CSR after the race. Then again, she may not want to change after the race so I guess we will play it by ear. I think she would be cute looking like this all day.
IMG_2174_zpseba0d429.jpg

Once Zoe is finished with the race we will head to

IMG_0460_zps2b31a410.jpg

We will not have a long day planned here. Our list of must do's will include
Finding Nemo the Musical

and the Jamin Jungle Parade.

If we have time I would like to stroll around and see some animals.

P1050620.jpg

If the day is warm we may head to KRR first. If not we will skip it all together.

Since I need to call it an early day/evening we will have a late lunch/early dinner at Boma. Where I can have some food like this

IMG_2154_zps3f78fdab.jpg

Now, originally I thought that a meal at the Wave would be better. I know a lot of princesses will be dinning there this evening. However, if I listen to my body- rice and beans tend to sit better on my stomach. Add in that it is closer to AK than it is to other parks and this evening seemed to be a good choice to do Boma. Hopefully, I don't regret it.

Since AK will still be open a bit after we finish eating, I am going to leave it up to Steve and Zoe as to if they would like to go back to the park. For me it will be a matter of getting my race items together and heading straight to bed. I am not sure how well known this is to everyone in the general dis population... but the morning bus to the corrals for the phm is EARLY. Not just "oh we are getting up for rd early" but well before dawn. In fact, it will remain dark out for quite a while.

2/24 - Day 5

Ann, have you been to Boma for dinner before?

We did once and will NEVER return. Everything was tasting of cinnamon and far too sweet for my taste.
If you haven't been there before, have a look at Sanaa's menu! Very yummy! :thumbsup2

Mmmn! Boma! That sounds like a lovely choice and what's nice is versus The Wave, because it is a buffet you will have lots choices to pick what works best for you. I think that's a great switch.

Aside from the fact that I do not run, the hour at which the 1/2's start is a deterrent enough for me!

Zoe will look adorable dressed all day like that if she wants.

Looks like your plans are coming together quite nicely! :thumbsup2

I'll be interested to hear what you have to say about the Wave. I'm thinking about booking a breakfast there for us in Dec. since we'll be staying @ CR.

Did you see the New Balance shoes that runDisney released during the Marathon? They are so cute! I would love a pair.

I have had Boma once. It was the dinner I had the night before the ToT race. I liked it well enough, but definitely had to watch myself with it. When I mentioned to Kira I made a reservation there she (who tends to stuff herself silly at buffets) thought the concern would be to not overeat. I can make sure I don't do that.

This was my thought.... bases on how i was feeling I could eat more or less meat... more or less soup..more or less... well, you get the idea. So you are right... I think the choices will make it a good pick. At least this is my hope.

Aside from the fact that I do not run, the hour at which the 1/2's start is a deterrent enough for me!

I am not excited about this aspect. I am a night owl so the start of the ToT was very nice for me. This may just be too early.

Zoe will look adorable dressed all day like that if she wants.

Thank you. I am not sure how she will feel. Lately she is so fickle in what she wants to dress like. She had cheer camp on saturday and would have loved if I let her be in her "uniform" all day.

Looks like your plans are coming together quite nicely! :thumbsup2

Thanks! I think I am finally (like this last wee) starting to get super excited and realizing this trip IS happening.

be interested to hear what you have to say about the Wave. I'm thinking about booking a breakfast there for us in Dec. since we'll be staying @ CR.

I know that Karin always has nice meals there. I had and ADR there December 2011 but ended up walking up and canceling... So I too am excited to try it.

Did you see the New Balance shoes that runDisney released during the Marathon? They are so cute! I would love a pair.

I did! They are so cute!!! My problem is two things though... 1. they are a stability shoe so I would not be able to run in them (I run in a minimalist) and 2. they are selling out fast at the events since they are doing limited runs of them.

This is a very busy week. I am hoping to keep up with the planning and updates to my TR.

I took today off of work. I think I needed a day to just "hang out" I did manage to clean out a pantry.

Tomorrow, I have a long run that will probably take me to 10 miles. It has been extremely cold and here lately and I can feel my lungs are starting to rebel a bit. I need to come as close to possible to finishing this training program as I can though, so I can't skip this run (not that I would, but... ) This is day 6 of week 9. The program goes all the way to day 7 of week 12. So that makes 22 days left? I am not sure that will give me enough time to taper before the race. That would have me finishing a week and a half before the phm...and I am not sure if that will be the best idea.

Also tomorrow, Zoe has dance followed by cheer. She did cheer camp this weekend and was invited to cheer with the highschool team at a basket ball home game. She and the other junior cheerleaders will do the halftime show.

Wednessday, my dh will FINALLY go back to work. I am so very very excited for this. Not because I want him gone..but because I want some structure, some routine back in our lives.

This will mean when he goes back he will actually get to see if he will be able to go with me next month. We are all but certain that he will, but since there has been no contact allowed while he was on disability he does not know for sure.

Thursday will be my "holiday" party. Since my coworkers and I all travel to stores and "work" from our home we do not have an office and thus rarely see each other in person. For this reason, I am taking this opportunity to actually talk to my boss about next month and get the "official" ok to go. I will also touch base with her regarding the fall trip.

Friday, I will get all my materials ready for the new work cycle and all my crazy hours will start back up again. Funny how my time off comes and goes so quickly each month . :sad2:

Still determined to keep up with dis!

Zoe cheered her little heart out at the game last night!

This was at practice on saturday

Steve went back to work today and has had an AWESOME day. Everyone was thrilled to have him back and after being out for 13 weeks he was asked if he would like a new position (since he was excited, I assume in the promotion way and not demotion way). He also got his time off approved for when we go next month!!!

This just leaves me to find out how I will get my time off worked out. Tomorrow... cross your fingers for me that it goes well tomorrow!!!

Oh...and I ran 10.35 miles yesterday in 1 hour and 49 minutes!!! :cool1::cool1: I still have some more training to do in the coming weeks to get ready for the phm... and I am still a fair bit nervous about it. However, I do feel like come the fall I will be ready for the ToT 10 miler. I don't want to give too much away that I haven't got to yet in my TR... but lets just say that my time yesterday- even with the added 1/3 mile was A LOT better than my time from the ToT race. OH... and NO ELK yesterday!!! :cool1:

Still determined to keep up with dis!

Zoe cheered her little heart out at the game last night!

This was at practice on saturday

and I learned that taking a picture at a half time show with your iphone isn't that great of an idea.

so cute! And so :rotfl: on the half time shot, looks like a bazillion bad soccer and band distance shots I have of the kids.

Steve went back to work today and has had an AWESOME day. Everyone was thrilled to have him back and after being out for 13 weeks he was asked if he would like a new position (since he was excited, I assume in the promotion way and not demotion way). He also got his time off approved for when we go next month!!!

Fingers crossed for tomorrow, SUCH great news all around. Killer run, great day for Steve, so exciting and...it's warming up maybe that will keep the Elk away? Ok, it's getting soggier but still, it is a little warmer.

I am not sure what the deal with the elk has been. I didn't see them this often all year and then BAM! It has to have something to do with the winter.

I will take the less foggy weather... I just wish that it wasn't quite so soggy.

Tomorrow should go fine. I would be extremely surprised if my manager changes her tune. When I first approached her regarding the phm, she was very supportive..and said that it was more important than the work that has to be done. Still, that is easy to say months in advance... but as "high priority" tasks come up and clients need to be made happy... well, I think it becomes harder to say the work isn't important. KWIM?
