My mom keeps telling me I have to try the Fried Cheesecake at Maya Grill but we r nothing eating there. Can I get it as a take out ?
Thanks Roe

I totally agree with her. It's so yummy!!! I don't see why you couldn't order some to go.

Nope I called them today. I have to sit down an eat it. I just going to go and sit down and get it. I just hate to do this. It makes no sense. I'll tip them lol

It makes sense because Maya Grill isn't set up to have a take out service. Take out calls for a different procedure and requires staff to handle it differently. There are many restaurants in the real world that also don't have take out. (Giving you your leftovers in a "doggie bag" is different. Restaurants & their servers are set up to handle this process.)

Well I think it's stupid! I am going to take up a table just for me to try a piece of cake when I will be there a total of 5 mins. Yes it's stupid. Wasting there time & mine. But hey they want to do it that way . I still get my cake an eat it to either way. lol

That stinks, last year we ate there and they had no problems giving us our desserts in to-go cartons to take back to our room. On the plus side, in 2 weeks at CSR last summer, they were always fairly empty.

We shall see what happens when I get there. I hate to take up a table just for that.

Once you sit down and order, they will give you a to go box to put it in. You just can't go to the podium (or call in) and order.

FYI: We have a few restaurants like that around here. We just go in, order, then immediately ask for a doggy box to put it in. One particular Mexican restaurant that I really like, I do this at all the time. The waiters know me and as soon as I order, want to know if I want a to go box.:rotfl: I give them a hard time about not letting me order from the check in counter, but they just laugh and say that's their policy, but they have no trouble with me coming in, sitting down, ordering whatever, then getting a to go box to put it in. However, the kitchen is not allowed to put it in a to go box.:confused3 I tell them it just gives them dirty dishes to wash and an extra table to bus, but they still say it's their policy.

See that's the way I feel . Why let me take up table space dirty a dish and waste the waiter's time. But if that's there policy oh well as long as I get to try it I will be happy. lol

Its probably really good when it is first made because when I had it I was in bad shape that night at dinner and had to wrap it to go--I ate it for snack the next day COLD from the fridge and it was still realllllly yummy. I love the Maya Grill.

I don't know if they use the same recipe, but we have a couple of Mexican restaurants around here that do fried cheesecake. What they do is freeze pieces of cheesecake solid, roll it in a flour tortilla, then very quickly deep fry it until it's crispy and brown, then sprinkle a little powdered sugar on it, and top it with strawberry topping and sweetened whipped cream. It's really good, but is best eaten while the tortilla wrapping is hot and crisp and the cheesecake and topping is cold. It's not something I'd want left over.

I don't know if Maya Grill has it, but some of the Mexican restaurants around here also have fried ice cream which is also very good and done along the same lines, except they use a crispy coating rather than a flour tortilla.
