We've been in Barcelona a few days now, and have hit almost all of the main sights we initially intended to see, and I wanted to offer a few tips from our perspective....

If I've got time, I'll scope out the grocery and wine stores near the port (unless someone has already done this for one of the earlier sailings?)

Almost to 10 posts...

Thanks for the update :thumbsup2
We will be leaving for Barcelona in 10 days!!!

Whee!!! :yay::yay::yay: 2 weeks from now, I'll be in Barcelona, trying desperately to stay awake so that I don't have horrid jetlag, and so that I can see some of Barcelona!!!!! 2 weeks from tomorrow, I'll be meeting you fine folks! :flower3: I can HARDLY WAIT!!!!!

Well, I've gotten my normal pre-vacation malady. (Something *always* shows up. My doctor always knows when I'm going on vacation!) Somehow, I've managed to irritate my tmj. Jaw clicks noisily. Fortunately, it's not painful, just annoying as hell... I'm hoping the Aleve helps. Fingers & toes crossed! It's better than the plantar fasciitis I always seem to get before I go to WDW! (Knock wood!)

Sayhello

Crossing my finger for you :)

When will you be there in OCT?

We will be there from Oct 21 - 24. All the time we have been to WDW, but never for the Halloween Party.

We will also be on the Disney Dream and WDW in Oct 2011.

Are anniversary in Oct 18 so I try to plan vacations during that time.

Oh, we are just going to miss you! We're going the 14-19th. October is my very favorite time to visit WDW - the decorations, the food & wine fest, and of course the Halloween Party. You're going to love it! Out of all the 'parties' I think it's the most fun, and the parade is awesome!

Listening to the videos and reading through the various reports on the 4/24 embarkation process, I noted the following:

1) If you're a Castaway Club member (previous DCL cruiser) make sure you get in the Castaway Club line at the Terminal. Apparently, it wasn't obvious which line was which and the CC line moved much faster.

2) Boarding began before the stated 1 pm. People were on the ship by 12:30, perhaps even before.

3) Lunch is being served at Parrot Cay.

OK, We received the FE gifts the other day. Fixed some other plans for the trip, so everything is all set. Now I'm having strange dreams, mostly about lost luggage. I hope this is not foreshadowing what it so come.

This year we'll be there twice in October...Oct. 1-3 for the Wine and Dine half marathon and later for the Food & Wine Festival. I think this will be our 8th year in a row. :cool1:

Just a note about the Castaway Club line - We are members but my parents are not (separate DCL reservation). As long as our reservations are linked then we can both check-in using the Castaway Club line.

The Food & Wine Festival looks like fun. I cannot wait for the parties and the parade. :yay:

Tara, great report! Thank you so much for the informaiton.

Jeff, did I see in one of the videos that there is a duty free shop in the port? I need preseco and Aperol for my Venician Spritz. I can pack but could really use the luggage space.

Moneyhappy, thank for the info on the linked ressie check in. We are traveling with first time cruisers as well. It will be great to check in with them!:woohoo:

Totally freaking out over my luggage situation. I just went to the Ryanair website and found out that they only allow 15kg per bag. That is only 33 lbs per bag:eek::scared1:

My suitcase weighs 1/2 that!!!!! They also charge 20Euro per kilo if you go over the 15kg. Guess I will be taking less and washing more. So glad I check, I would've stuff my suitcase full to try and use only one suitcase, but now I'll pack two suitcases lightly. Only problem is bringing my FEs, I don't know how I'm going to get all of them in my luggage and still have room and weight leftover to bring my clothes.

EVERYONE WISH ME LUCK. I'm going to pack this weekend and bring it all to work so I can weigh it.

I did see on the cruise website that an address was listed for the port. Does anyone know if we can mail something to ourselves at the port?

Cindy

You can try finding a light weight bag similar to this. Also be careful with the carry-on rules. They only allow 1 item (not 1 bag and 1 personal item) in the cabin, and it's a 10kg limit.

We are in WDW after the Transatlantic cruise. Have got 2 weeks with free dining staying at Saratoga Springs.
We will back at WDW for 2 weeks from New Years eve as well.
Can you tell we love it over there ?.

We love the Food and Wine Festival and Eat to the Beat concerts. Last October we got to see Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.
The Halloween Party is a lot of fun...my daughter and I were like little kids trick or treating!:) The parade is awesome especially the grave diggers.
Did anyone go to the Princess and Pirates Party they had a few years ago? The fireworks at the end of that party were the best we have ever seen Disney do!:cheer2:

I am sure that your TA has your docs. We booked though our favorite TA, as always, and we just received ours last week.

Yes, I contacted my TA yesterday on the way out of town. He has them (recieved them Wednesday) and I will get them Monday when I get home. Anne

I used to have TMJ...then I got braces and had jaw surgery (20 years ago) and no more TMJ. :cool1:

I have major TMJ...have had it for 20+ years. Been told I needed jaw surgery, but to wait until I can't take it anymore because there is a small chance it could make you worse...which I couldn't handle:scared1:. I wear a bite guard at night and pop many Ibuprofens to keep it at bay daily. Interested to hear about your ordeal. Anne

Don't know if anyone is still looking at airfares but I noticed today that Delta has some ridiculously low fares to Europe. Honolulu to Copenhagen for $850. I couldn't make myself wait. If only they would repeat that price next June when a Baltic cruise would fit nicely.

It all depends on what airport you are flying out of. I just booked my parent's plane tickets today to London and the prices were continually going up. Although that might be contributed to that they are flying out of Buffalo but I dont know.
