May 9, 2012: 5 Night Bahamas Cruise on Disney Magic

Brittany, what a fun picture of you and the family!

Kelly, how awesome you were able to do the CC 5K. I used to run ALL.THE.TIME. That was before a brutal knee injury during a basketball game, which effectively not only killed my basketball career, but any hopes of running thereafter as well (arthritis and running do not go hand in hand...trust me, I have tried several times throughout my life to start it up again). I have finally given in to just riding my bike (also killer on the knees, but I need something, right?), so I do that for anywhere from 5 to 10 miles every night. And I am 46...you are SO NOT OLD!!!!

Loved your trip report on the run! And the pics as well!

That's the first thing I said when I saw that pic... CHRISTMAS CARD!!!

I'm even considering getting a black and white canvas print for the house... I've got a few of the kids but not all of us.

Thanks, Cindy! My mom has had so many health issues her entire life. I know it sounds just awful but I've always been afraid of getting to my mother's age at any point and have the problems she does. So much of what I do centers on my health and not being like my mom. She & I have even discussed it ((me being very apologetic for even thinking it)) and she says she doesn't blame me at all. She assures me I'm not at all like her with the health stuff. She even touched my heart last time I was over to visit when I was relaxing on the front porch with her after a run and she told me she admired me for my strength, that I was like a hero to her. Do compliments get any better than that??? :cutie: I've been lucky not to have arthritis thus far. I used to play tackle football with my brother & his friends on Sundays during my college days. Amazing my knees held up all this time. I admire those like you, actually, who have obstacles yet persevere. That's awesome-sauce!

Brit, I mentioned the 5k to the old man a little bit ago. He said that's fine, he might rent a bike to ride along and take pics again. :)

1 more month!!!!! I seriously need this trip like right now. This weekend my poor Lab really started failing. When we got home from my sister's house on Easter, he was unable to move his back half. We had to take him in and put him down. We are just heartbroken :( On a positive note my cort. shot really helped my foot. Hopefully it lasts a LONG time.

I still havent received our FE from Gradysmom. She said it was going out last week... she has been running really behind. Im hoping it comes this week.

*Big hugs* I am so so sorry to hear this. I know how difficult that decision is and I hope you guys are able to focus on all the good times.

I do hope your foot keeps feeling better!

I hear ya. I got a call Sunday that my grandmother passed away on Saturday night. I am attending the visitation and funeral tomorrow. I hate those things. My grandma had Alzheimers really bad for the past several years, so the grandma I remember has been gone a long time :(

I am glad your foot is feeling better :cool1:

I can't wait to get on the boat and have a relaxing drink with you all :woohoo:

I am so incredibly sorry to hear this too! Less sickness and tragedy in our group for the next 6 weeks!

Brittany - that picture is incredible!

All the runners - you guys are awesome. I HATE to run and can't force myself to do it. Before I got pregnant I was regularly doing Zumba and Pilates at home but have been woefully sedentary between nausea and ligament pain of late. I need to at least speed walk!

We got our FE finally - I can't remember if I posted that or not. I didn't go through Gradysmom but I really like it!

Oh Leslee...I don't know how I missed this. I am so sorry. Please know you and your family are in my thoughts.

Hi everybody! It's only 4 weeks and 1 day away!

I called DCL to see if I could find out what our dining rotaion is. We have requested 2nd seating. DCL couldn't tell me our rotation, but they could give me the rotations so that I could request one. Day 1 and 2 are cruise casual, Day 3 is dress-up, Day 4 is pirates night and Day 5 is cruise casual. The rotations are as follows:

Rotation 1 is LAPPL,

Rotation 2 is APLLA,

Rotation 3 is PLAAP.

L - Lumiere's, A - Animator's Palate, P - Parrot Cay

We requested Rotation 1 and we have a reservation for Palo's on Day 3.

I can't wait to start eatingpopcorn:: as I am in the starvation mode of my
diet! I have to lose enough weight so that all of my clothes will fit. We leave for the Polynesian on May 5 and then over to the Magic!!!:cheer2:

By the way... here's a pic of the 5 of us from the Easter Egg Roll. I don't think I've shared a pic yet.

What a cool pic!!! Looked like a fun time.

I plan on doing the 5k.. but walking it. I cant run with my foot issues.

I'm glad to hear about your foot but am sooooo sorry and sad about your Lab. Ours passed on the year our DS was born and I'm still not over it. I think 1 of the reasons I'm dragging my feet on adopting another dog is I just don't think any other dog will measure up to Dutchess. Again, I'm so sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear about your grandmother. Sounds like it was a rough weekend for many. :sad2:

I can't believe it's just a month away! I weighed-in yesterday and lost another 2 lbs. That makes my total for last month 6 lbs. and 6 inches (<-- total for bust, waist, & hips). I'd like to lose at least 10 more lbs. I think I can do it. I've just got to keep up the good eating and work a bit harder. I'm proud to say I can run farther faster than I've ever run in my life. Seriously. 20 minutes straight running. I may run slow but in 30 minutes I can cover 3 miles. That's amazing for me. :thumbsup2

Congrats!! That's awesome! My gym cancelled kickboxing on Easter Sunday, so I thought I'd go for a run too. It was such gorgeous weather (low 60's) that I felt so good and decided to go for a whopping 4 miles. MISTAKE! I'm so paying for that right now. Ouch. Nearly fell out of bed on Monday morning. As for my diet. 1 pound cake + 1 pecan pie + handful of Cadbury eggs - 1 kickboxing session - 4 miles = +1.5 lbs. :sad2: 1 step forward, 2 steps back. I just have 3.5 lbs to go to make my 5 total. Ugh. So hard!!!

Love the pic!!! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info! I emailed my TA late last night and she's adding our rotation request for us. I chose #2 because I want to begin & end at AP.

So dress-up is our dressiest night as opposed to semi-formal. That's a big question I had. Dang, I scored a great designer cocktail dress on eBay for a great price last week. Fits like a glove, too. Paid $35 for a $350 BCBG Max Azria. :woohoo: Maybe I could still pull it off for Palo. I wonder if it'd be too dressy, tho. :confused3 Still gotta buy a new Spanx & shoes to pull that bad boy together, tho. LOL!

I still do the whole get-up on dress up night regardless if it's called formal, semi-formal, or dress-up. :goodvibes Usually I wear something like this...

...but found a Betsy & Adam gown that I fell in love with a few weeks ago, and plan on wearing that!

Oh, and I had meant to mention in my previous post, the black cat on Castaway Cay (Casey) has his own Facebook page!

Sweet! I will have to call :). We aren't doing Palo dinner this time around, and my first instinct is that I don't want to do AP twice, since only one time will be the show. So rotation 1, which would put Pirate Night at PC which I think would be fun too.
Does anyone have any thoughts? First cruise and I'm sure any rotation would be just fine for us, and we'll be fine in AP without the show. It unfortunately also means dress up in PC but again, I doubt we'll care :).

OK, so you want more nights in AP. Why? Of course you cruised the Dream last time and it's a totally different experience - is that why?

Totally do the Max Azria dress! That will be amazing :cheer2:. I am sure it will be totally fine for Palo but from what I've heard you could do it dressy night too. I will be way more casual just because I can't find, nor do I want to pay for, a more formal maternity dress I will only wear once. :)

On my end of things, pregnancy insomnia and DH working nights and major back pain have conspired to keep me from sleep. I am soooo tired and feeling like there is no way I can get through grocery shopping, let alone all the other stuff I need to get done. MIL arrives day after tomorrow :scared1:.

Really don't know what rotation I want. I think I would like L's twice, from looking at the menu. Thinking P would be nice for Pirate night. Really not sure how dressed up we will get.

Good Morning fellow cruisers, it is that time of the week again. We now have only

arg-4-50-trans.gif

WEEKS until we sail! Happy Wednesday! :yay::woohoo::dance3:

I just called and they told me completely different rotation schedules. :confused3 I didn't want to argue with him, but would someone else call and see what they tell you?

From what he said, I picked Rotation 3 which he said was. PLAPL

I just called (as we had put in a previous request for LAPPL). The CM I spoke with said 1st and 5th nights are in the same dining room, and 3rd and 4th nights are in the same dining room. Whichever dining room falls on the second night will not be repeated.

He then proceeded to tell me we had no request on our reservation yet. :scared1: Thank goodness you asked one of us to verify and I called! So we now have LAPPL notated as our request. :goodvibes

You should call back and be sure you have the rotation you desire requested!

Oh, and I had meant to mention in my previous post, the black cat on Castaway Cay (Casey) has his own Facebook page!

I sent a link to the listing to my TA friend and asked if she thought the dress would be good for Palo. She said absolutely! Here's the link for y'all to see. Do you concur???

I think this is the one dress I've actually seen that would work with the super-awesome multi-color glitter shoes I've drooled over forever but never bought. What would I wear them with??? Well, this! LOL!

That's cool that Casey the kitty has his own FB page. I don't FB but still, that's really cool!

On the Dream we liked AP the most of the 3 restaurants. I know it's not even close to the same thing on the Magic but looking at the pictures & menus I have a feeling it will still be our favorite. Royal Palace was our 2nd favorite on the Dream so I figured Lumiere's would be our next best thing. Enchanted Garden was the least impressive to me. That's why I'm thinking Parrot Cay for just 1 night would be the way to go. It's my whacked-out logic making the call. LOL!

I think our Palo dinner is on the at-sea night. This is the one they think will be the dressiest, right? That would totally work out for the dressing up. Crossing my fingers I'm thinking of this right. :scared:

Awwww....I hope the pregnancy stuff resolves itself sooner rather than for the whole rest of the pregnancy. Man, these kiddies need to understand the misery we endure for them, huh???

Oh wow! Love, love, love the dress! The color is gorgeous!!! I usually stick with basic black, but the gown I just picked up is completely and totally island-y floral. It doesn't look the most flattering in this picture due to coloring (and I don't have the one side of it hanging quite right on the hanger), but you get the idea...

Yes, our day at sea is night three and will be dress-up night. Night four (Nassau) is Pirate Night. We have Palo scheduled for night three as well; unfortunately I have brunch booked that day also. We don't want to do both on the same day, and I cannot find another open Palo dinner time. Still not sure what we plan on doing. Right now we are leaning towards Palo dinner (since we always LOVE it), and will book brunch on the Fantasy next year.

For us, Lumiere's and Parrot Cay are a toss-up as our favorite. We love, love, love the Caribbean theme of Parrot Cay, and adore the menu (although this will be the first time we are sailing since going vegetarian last fall!). However we love the ambience of Lumiere's as well (and their Creme Brulee...oy!). Animator's Palate has always been 'meh for us. Both on the Wonder and the Magic. I studied motion pictures in college, so you would think that would be the ultimate for me...oh well. I do see where everyone loves it though. Could be that we have always had less than stellar food there. (Except for that Double Fudge Cake with Orange Caramel Sauce for dessert...double oy!)

Ok, all this talk about food is making me hungry! Must go grab a Godiva Gem from my overhead cabinet...

I love how colorful your dress is, Cindy! Gorgeous! It looks like it'd be a very flattering style, too. You could do so much for shoes with that. That's where I'm torn. I wanna do the pretty multi-color glittery shoes with my dress but then maybe a basic black would be better. I'm not sure! I live in shorts, flip flops, and pajamas. Sometimes I feel like I have no clue how to dress myself for anything different. LOL!
