May 2014 Discout Watch

Booked our flights this morning, now (im)patiently waiting for a promo for our days!!!

We got a pin in the mail today for discount room rates or the Disney dining plan. Unfortunately it's not valid at the Art of Animation resort which is where we were hoping to stay. Boo. :(

It says valid most days January 3 through May 5, 2014

We haven't seen any pin codes for May free dining. The free dining pin that I received went through March 5th.

So has there been pin codes for Free Dining for May? We check in May 4, and that would be :cool1:

We check in May 12 and chose the DxDP so free dining or ANY discount would be great lol...the reservation I have now I don't think has a discount attached to it YIKES

Ditto on the YIKES! We're looking at $5,000 for a week for 4 of us. Of course, that's all rack rates since no discounts are out yet but still...YIKES!

Yup a little over $5100 for us....I keep saying to myself.....It's Disney.....It's Disney....It's Disney lol

Oh my goodness, that's what I keep saying too! Especially considering we likely won't be going for another 10 years :(

Well we can't stay away that long lol...but we go about every 5 years or so....My husband says that I keep having babies so that I have a reason to go lol....not true of course lmfao

There are three of us (all adults in Disney's eyes), staying two weeks, 8 day tickets and the dining plan. Our total at rack rate was over $5,700. I almost :faint:. Free dining would save us over $2,000 but I won't be holding my breath for it. At least I received my first ever pin code and was able to shave a little off our total....almost $400. I'll take whatever I can get. We make annual trips to Disney and this is our longest trip ever thus the sticker shock.

We are staying May 13-19. Park hopper tickets and Regular dining plan. Staying at Coronado Springs. 2 adults 2 children over 10. 5400.00 with airfare. I need some type of discount:) we have only been there once 5 years ago. And took us forever to save the funds to go again. My kids are giving up their Christmas (gifts) for this trip.

No discount for us so far. With 2 boys and a husband, FD would be our ultimate discount, saving us $2,350!!! Please, pretty please!!!!! :lovestruc

Just made our reservations for May 15-23. Crossing my fingers for a room or dining discount in the near future.

May 7 - 14 is booked. Hinted at Dec 31 for possible May discounts, but I don't know how reliable that is considering this is our first trip...ADRs can be booked next week!

Good morning! I felt like I needed to come here and share what I recently discovered. I'm not sure if this will be deleted or moved, but I feel like this needs to be known.

I posted a while back about the awesome PIN I received through WDW. I started pricing out Animal Kingdom, Wilderness Lodge, etc. I found that even with the 35% off it was still way too much for me.

Then I came across a post about renting DVC points. I looked into that and WHOA!!!!!!!! I booked a Deluxe Studio Savanna View at Animal Kingdom Villas for about $1600 less than what I would've paid for a room even with the 35% off. Not to mention it has a kitchenette with a microwave, fridge, coffee maker and toaster:coffee:. It sleeps 4 with a queen bed and a pull out sofa. I know many of you will be traveling with more than 2 people so there's also 1, 2 and 3 bedroom villas with full kitchens for rent. That would be great for a family to cook in some nights/mornings. If it was more than just my DS14 and I we would've gone that route also.

I rented from a DVC rental agency and have had a great response so far. I usually use vacation rental by owner website to rent houses/villas in the Caribbean so I wasn't nervous in the least using a rental agency. I did read up on reviews and found nothing but positive reviews about this particular company. I'm not sure if I can post the name here, but if you ask me I'll do it in a different post in case it gets removed. I'd hate for this entire post of information to be removed for one name.

Even though this may not be of interest to any of you, I thought I'd share since it was such a fantastic deal for me.:goodvibes

Edited to add what I paid. I figured y'all may want to compare prices to make sure. I'm paying $1988 for 8 nights (May 23-31). Also, I need to add I don't own DVC points nor do I work for any rental company. I'm just a single mom who loves sharing good deals when I find them! :)
