MAY 2014 Car Rentals

I am not sure that I am doing it right. I have followed the directions, and am still getting a total (before taxes and fees) of a $196 a week. Grand total of $268 for 1 week. April 25-May 2nd. Midsize rental

Am I doing something wrong? Do others get this same price for these dates?

It probably was a special a couple of days ago and now it has gone up

I'm not sure what it was since the prices only appeared for about 2 1/2 hours. I was lucky enough to get a reservation, but haven't seen those prices since! I'm trying to help a friend with a reservation now.

Dollar has a habit of doing this. Check daily early in the morning. When you see something good.... GRAB IT!!!

I am so glad you wrote this. I started checking a few hours after I saw this post and was getting a rate of 196 and with taxes 240 something. I couldn't understand what was going on. Thanks for explaining.

Thanks for the advice! When you find a good deal, do you have to pay up front for the reservation, in order to lock in the price? Or do you just put a credit card down?

The latter. I did not prepay.

Dollar went down today!!! I checked it about an hour ago, and it was a grand total of $184. Just checked again, to see some specifics, and it is up to $213. Goodness, how fast the rates move around. Glad to know a good base rate though! I know to keep checking until I at least get the $184.

Dollar is seriously down. I just got $70 all-in for a full size car (pick up/drop off at MCO) May 23-26. It's the holiday weekend, so I was shocked to find an airport rate quite this low.

Thank you for posting this! We were on the fence about using ME or renting a car because we are also going to Universal. We were just able to get the same rate for May 9-12.

$70 is amazing!! The sale must be on specific dates. Earlier in May is still over $200.
It's crazy how fast the rates change.

Just went to Costco Travel on their website and my price dropped from $423 with Budget to $209 with Alamo. We are flying in to FLL and then going to Disney a few days later. I am so thrilled. This is for a nine day rental.

I looked two days ago and prices were still very high.
