Questions for Northerners by Southerners or vice-versa in the USA?

Southerners, sweet tea or ice tea?
Over the past, say, six months, I've noticed that nearly every restaurant I've been to has asked me "sweet or unsweet" when I order iced tea. My Brother in Christ: this is Michigan. We do not drink sweet tea up here.

I mean, I suppose it is possible that these are all out-of-staters up here for school, but seriously?

I believe it's been the same results for us across the south and TX...

If you ask for iced tea, you MAY be asked "sweet or unsweetened," but MANY places will default to sweet tea if you don't specify.

That being said, I HATE sweet tea. Years ago, some friends dragged me to a local cafeteria that's sort of a staple and insisted that I have sweet tea with my lunch. That stuff is just so cloyingly sweet!

We just wanted to share the winter experience.
Lol thanks for wanting to share. But if you would be so kind to keep the rest after thisEven though I enjoyed watching the mayhem today in the grocery store parking lot( it was my usual grocery pick up for the week.

The word snow said in the South ,is like saying the boogeyman is going to get you when you are a kid.

No kidding! I am trying to figure out a plan to get DD18 back to Oklahoma and everything from Dallas and north is ice and snow. This was all fine and dandy when I was in upstate NY, but we don't do snow very well down here.

Have you ever experienced a Nor'easter? That's a Northerner's boogeyman. It's a kid's code word for guaranteed snow day.

I know the northern "Bless your heart" just doesn't hit like the southern "Bless your heart". :)

Yes. As we’ve moved quite a bit. Fun fact, started experiencing labor pains during a Nor’Easter. Thankfully they subsided until the blizzard passed. Gave birth two days later.

I am also from Michigan but lived for about 8 years in Kentucky. Sweet tea is a no go for me but I am fairly confident sweet tea is a thing in Canada which explains why it is an option in some areas here.

Southerners, what do you think about the Northern pro sports teams in your favorite sports leagues?

I was born in Detroit and spent the first 24 years there and right after I got married, we moved to Orlando FL. for our jobs and lived there for about 18 years. I loved winter and snow my wife not so much:) One of the biggest issue my wife had was that you could go a month without seeing the sun, just 1 grey dreary day after another and she did not like that, in Detroit in December you would get more freezing rainy days and barely any snow. Also, as much as I loved the white snow covering the ground and trees, a few days later after salt is laid down it turns slushy and dirty. All cars no matter what color they are originally, now all look white. Then you had to deal with them rusting. Loved Orlando for about 12 years and it started to seem that the heat would start earlier and last longer, and the traffic was really getting out of hand. We use to vacation in the Destin area (Florida panhandle) and decided to move there and it has been a great. Our snow now are the white sugar beaches in our area, and in December and January our temps drop into the low 30's and a few days colder. It's not consistent but I will take a sunny High 55 Low 33 day over high 32 Low 17 and cloudy. LOL I constantly send my family in Michigan a screenshot of our weather especially when they are in the middle of a freeze or snow storm. Let's just say that sometimes the replies I get back can be a bit "colorful" LOL As for tea, we do not drink it, except for the occasional hard ice tea. I hate being stuck in SEC country but totally relished last year:cheer2: Were Catholics and plenty of churches and a few schools as well, so no issues there. Also, we live by a couple of the largest Air Force bases so seeing fighters and other planes flying over head never gets old. And of course now that we live here, we vacation in Orlando. LOL I think I covered most of it.:)
