May 2, 2014 - A WONDERous trip through the Locks WBPC

Hi All:cool1: I just checked with Jet Blue airlines and it looks like they are out for the flight to Ft.Lauderdale. They don't show any flights out of DFW on any of thier flights. If anyone finds out this is wrong, I would appreciate a shout. Thanks in advancepirate:

I know this cruise is almost a year away but I didn't like being on Page 3!!! At the moment it is our next vacation so my thoughts are on it quite a bit - until we book something for the intervening period anyway!!

I hope you are all keeping well.

I like that attitude, let's keep it visible!

Bobbi:)

I know a lot of folk have other cruises/vacations booked so don't have much time for this one yet but it is nice to get to know one another and chat.

DH and I are retirement age, and we MAY be joined by DSis & DCuz if they find a bargain closer to sail date.

We hope to use DVC points in DL after the cruise.

Trevor and Jill from UK will begin the west bound trip next year through the Panama Canal. Cabin 7124. This will be our 4th trip and first time by ourselves. Looking forward to a relaxing trip. As soon as we get to California we will be picking up grand kids (who both live in Moorpark, Socal) at the Port and then will stay on board for the cruise to nowhere. Also off to Alaska with DCL in 2 weeks.... We Love the WONDER. If anyone got spaces for FE's on Panama Canal trip we are up for it.

DH and I did the Panama Canal WB in '08 and have wanted to do it again ever since! Being lovers of sea days, it's the perfect cruise for us! We have a few Disney trips planed before, including the D23 Expo in August and BWV in September, but we just can't wait to spend 15 days relaxing on the Wonder!

Hi. We were on the May '08 WBPC too and loved it so much we have done it twice since!! You will love it as much as the '08 one. In fact in some ways it is better as you don't feel the need to crowd at the front of the ship.

I can't remember you from the thread for that cruise(if you were on it) but it was 5 years ago now.;)

We are just past retirement age. It is a great cruise for us as it is so relaxing.

Hi there from fellow Brits. How blessed you are to have relatives in California - some great vacations for you. Enjoy Alaska.

DH has retired, I work p/t, and am not working now, but may this fall.

I love reading about all of the repeat cruisers on this particular cruise. Maybe this is something that can become a tradition, something to do in May! I know we both enjoy sea days!

It really is our favourite cruise because of the sea days really but also there is something else for us and I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe the area of the world and hot weather. I sure don't like high humidity so it isn't that!! There is something special about the Panama Canal and of course in a few years a PC cruise might not go through the old locks which are so very interesting.

We aren't on this cruise but we did do it in 2013. Wanted to offer a suggestion for the day you transit the canal. Book Palo brunch that day. Great views from air conditioned comfort while you sail across the lake.

Thanks for advice re Palo on the Panama cruise. We have booked a Palo brunch in just over 2 weeks on the Alaskan cruise. Have heard the views from there of the ice fields is amazing. No doubt the views through the Panama Canal are also amazing... Can't believe how tight the ship is going through at some points.

That is a good idea if you want to do brunch. This time they cordoned off the area at the back behind Palo's so the view was unobstructed by other cruisers walking round or standing there. We were annoyed as we were wanting to walk round for exercise but good for those eating of course.

Yes it is about 2 ft either side. We did scrape a few times this time but not too deep. It was all painted again at the next port of call.

Here is a pic of how close you get. This was taken on this years cruise on the Wonder.

For this years cruise I wanted to do brunch on Canal day. I was talked out of it by being remained about the amazing BBQ they always do. Glad I was not insistent. Those Steaks and sausage were amazing. Maybe the best steaks I had all cruise. As nice as the views might be, I don't think I would want to do brunch on the Canal day. I don't want to miss that BBQ that I know they will do on the day we transit.

The last few pages were a lot to catch up; I have check-in more frequently.
Welcome to all who recently joined our group! Palo brunch during canal transit is a must - we had an incredible view of the storm & the lake.

I can't wait to see our incredible tablemates, but I just found out I'm sick. Barring complications or chemotherapy or restrictions, I hope to meet in319 days! Thanks for the pixie dust :)
