May 2, 2014 - A WONDERous trip through the Locks WBPC

Positive thoughts. Think positive and it will be all be ok

For this years cruise I wanted to do brunch on Canal day. I was talked out of it by being remained about the amazing BBQ they always do. Glad I was not insistent. Those Steaks and sausage were amazing. Maybe the best steaks I had all cruise. As nice as the views might be, I don't think I would want to do brunch on the Canal day. I don't want to miss that BBQ that I know they will do on the day we transit.

Am I right in thinking the transit day BBQ was out on deck on previous cruises. I did feel having it on deck gave a more party atmosphere though I do understand why they now do it at the back of Beach Blanket. That rain was sure welcome but it was better most were inside eating rather out on the open deck.

The last few pages were a lot to catch up; I have check-in more frequently.
Welcome to all who recently joined our group! Palo brunch during canal transit is a must - we had an incredible view of the storm & the lake.

I can't wait to see our incredible tablemates, but I just found out I'm sick. Barring complications or chemotherapy or restrictions, I hope to meet in319 days! Thanks for the pixie dust :)

I am sorry to hear about your illness. I will pray for quick healing. The cruise will be the best recuperation!

Thanks to everyone for the heads up on flying into FLL. I tried something new, which is buying our airfare 330 days out (as soon as the itinerary became available). Usually, I don't plan trips this far in advance haha.

Anyway, I was able to get a great price! HNL-FLL, then SAN-HNL for $695 each. Won't get any cheaper than that! Score!!!

Does anyone know about the port in San Diego? Is it really right next to the airport? I tried to google map it, but I was surprised by what (I think) I saw. I'm trying to rent a car and I picked Budget at the airport (on Costco).

I seem to remember the cruise terminal being just there more or less in the centre on the sea front. The airport is very close, just a short taxi ride.

Funny thing is that we were just on the California Coastal cruise in October. We actually were at that port, but didn't even get off the ship, because we were going to San Diego for five days (after DLR). I guess I didn't even look!

Okay, so perhaps DH and I will cab it over there while my parents watch the boys. Then we will go pick them up.

I had actually forgotten about how close to central San Diego the cruise terminal is. We walked past it on our way to the aircraft carrier the USS Midway.

By the way that is a great place to visit to any of you staying in San Diego for a day or so. If any are staying onboard for the next cruise the USS Midway would be somewhere walkable to spend few hours off the ship. Indeed most of San Diego town itself is walkable from the terminal.

We haven't decided yet what to do when we disembark.

Hello all

We just got off of Fantasy yesterday (what a beautiful ship! Great cruise....I digress...)
and they did offer the 20% discount for this cruise. Yay!

Yeah!!! We will finally meet!:goodvibes

Muushka, glad you got the 20%! Hope we will see you on this sailing!

I didn't realize there was a 2-day after ours. Maybe I woulda booked that? Eh, I guess it's all good. 15 days is a great opportunity for relaxing (I love the sea days!), and we can visit relatives on our one day before going home. And the boys can go back to school on Monday (which I guess should be my priority haha).
