May 18, 2013 Magic EBTA Part Two - From Tejas to España

I just send out an e-mail to all of the people wanting to participate in the Private Mixology class - please confirm by replying to my e-mail! Thanks!

Hubby and I got split up flying home since he was flying standby, so I took the luggage and personal carryon since I was ticketed. He got looked at funny going through customs/immigration when he had no luggage and had been in Costa Rica for four days - and even funnier when he said he sent the luggage home with his wife on a different flight! :rotfl2:
:rotfl:
The research did not state a certain brand or whether or not it could be flavored. They actually used low-fat, but I use non-fat. The idea is that Greek yogurt is thicker and has much more protein (which keeps you more full for longer). Also, with all it's calcium, it is thought to prevent fat from entering the cells and to help carry out the fat. I can't stand any of it. But I do manage to eat the single-serving flavored Chobani yogurts for this. The study is dated, but at least it is from NIH (National Institute of Health) so it is believable.
We put the Costco Kirkland brand in our daily smoothie and it is quite good in there. (Smoothie is fruit, yogurt, non-fat milk, olive oil, protein powder, wheat germ and probably something I'm forgetting.)

Mandy,

Only 2 pairs of shoes,:rotfl2: Mary travelled light last time with 13 pairs!!

I think a feet tickling session coming up:banana: (private joke)

Only seven weeks tomorrow till I start my journey.
Wow, she's my hero!

Is it time to leave yet?
Between the snow and work, I am ready for a two week warm and relaxing vacation! But my work issue today stemmed from my last two week vacation so I am a little nervous. I am a subject matter expert in a certain area for my company so my resume is on file and gets sent out on proposals. I normally request that I am contacted ahead of time when using my resume so I am review the proposal and okay it. Well somehow during the EBPC cruise, someone took it upon themselves to use my resume and stumbled across a wrong resume and submitted it. Well according to the proposal,I have the following education: BA, Industrial Design, Auburn University, 1982; BS, Civil Engineering, North Carolina State University, 1993; MS, Civil Engineering, North Carolina State University, 1994, yeah I wasn't around in May of '82 to earn that degree. I spend the day sorting this mess out! Something happened to my resume when I changed my last name and things got merged wrong (my work/project history was right) Such a headache. It did make me laugh though as I was a very well educated 12 year old!
I hope you get it all worked out :goodvibes

We're going to have baggage fees and I'm hoping to keep us to four checked bags. I think I can manage with three pairs of shoes. Black flats for every night, Keene sandals and a pair of tennis shoes for walking, both on the deck and in port.

I think our fees are going to be $200 for both ways. That's $100 for the flight to TX, free for the flight from BCN to JFK, then $100 for JFK to home.

I remember that! And all the pics everyone posted of shoes they'd love to take on the cruise! And I was meekly hiding knowing I'm happy with a pair of blingy flip flops and keens. It might be three pairs this trip. Not sure yet. ;)

I need to start thinking seriously about how and what to pack.
especially since we have some "extra" beverage items we would like to have available
what exactly are packing cubes?

Here's a link. Various companies make them as well as retailers selling them. REI / REI Outlet, ebags, Container Store, Pottery Barn Kids, etc. We have various colors and sizes, and hubby loves his "folder" (I think it can hold 7 dress shirts). You can pack them according to person, or per day. Like I may know what we are wearing for a pre-cruise stay, and put it all in one cube. So when arriving to precruise hotel I just take that one packing cube out of the luggage. Or embarkation day - keeping a change of clothes and swimsuits for the kids in one cube that I can throw in my carryon bag --- you know that Mickey Slide is calling them!

It helped me this weekend coming home from Costa Rica because we flew down there on American but I had a ticket back on Spirit Air. Two different luggage restrictions as AA is 50 lbs but Spirit is 40 lbs. I weighed in at 42.5 pounds on the return and was told to remove some things. I knew I was close by guesstimating so I had placed a cube on top in the checked luggage I knew I could easily pull out and still fit in my carryon bag to keep it within size limitations (Spirit will charge you $100 at the gate if your personal item is too large and won't fit in that bin)

The prior week we were in Chattanooga, Nashvillle and Gatlinburg for four nights -- staying three different places. We had one roller bag for all four of us, and the packing cubes make it so easy to "repack" going place to place.

They are versatile enough they can be packed in your roller bag or in a backpacking backpack. They have worked great for our family on countless trips. :thumbsup2

Love my Keens!!! There was the Catalina sandal (?) around 2007 that was being discontinued. I think I bought four pairs of those for when one wears out I still have the next. :cool1: Of course none have worn out, but I have a few colors of it!!

On your flight home BCN-JFK-Home --- are you checking your luggage through? Many times they will be just fine for no fees since initial check=in point was no fee. We even got lucky like that flying to Europe with a stopover of 2 nights in New York City -- no baggage fee because final destination was Europe so a bag was free on the domestic part. Worth checking into to save that $100 - or maybe a nice surprise at the airport :)

All,

I was just updating my reservation check in (as our inbound flight has changed) - this morning we received our cabin assignment for our GTY reservation.

I know some of you have wondered about yours, so you might want to check your reservation today to see if your cabin number has been assigned.

Thanks, just checked our again (I checked at 7am) and we have our room assignments, no upgrade or connecting room but they are adjoining.

Please be sure to update any lists that need updating with room numbers when they are assigned from GTY status -- contact each event coordinator. Secret Mickey, FE, etc. Thank you so much!! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the notice about gty cabin assignments. Our 11C GTY is now an 11B - so no great upgrade.

Hi :wave2:..

The military rate was too good to pass up..so I signed up for this cruise..
some names are familiar:wave2:..on the WBTA 2014, been on Hawaii cruise #2, PC, Alaska, various eastern and western

I am joining in! Late to the party but ...

Can I join in any games/meets/events/linked dining/tastings/PJ Breakfast/FE/champaign girls that are still open???

It is me and 22 year old son.. late seating. Is there a FB group??

Thanks Susan

I have also added this to the Private Mixology post, but thought I would reiterate here just in case!

GOOD NEWS:
We have a confirmed date and time - May 20th from 2 - 3 PM

BETTER NEWS:
Cost of class has DECREASED from $20/person to $15/person

BAD NEWS:
Class sign up has had to be closed - you may still sign up to be placed on the waiting list, but there are 44 on the list as of now. DCL policy change has limited the class to 40 instead of the 49 we were originally told.

GOOD NEWS:
If enough people go on the waiting list to make a total of 50 people, we can actually split the class into two groups (a minimum of 25 is required for any private event) - SO if you are really wanting to attend and have not signed up yet, don't give up hope! There is still a chance as we only need six more to make the required number for 2 separate classes!

Sign up form is here, and also linked on my post about the class on the first page of this thread.

Any questions, please get in touch by PM or e-mail (DisneyMouseHouse@disboards.net) - thanks!

I have updated the time on post # 1 calendar with a link to your post # 8 of updated info :cool1:

Bunco --- might want to move times based on DCL reply. That's a busy day so far -- awaiting Palo Brunch # 1 confirmation and then mixology.

Hi Susan!! Yes - that is an absolutely fabulous rate to not pass up!! I'm the one who took your Palo Brunch request for WBTA :)

Yes - there is a facebook group that we've had around for over a year now (crazy to think of it that way!) and all activities are listed on first page. There are things to get signed up for ASAP as deadlines are nearing super fast (or some may have already passed. Check out page one. :) It will be great to meet you prior to WBTA!! :)

I also just added running club each day for 7:30am with link to running post. (Or walkers like me!) I did not add it for Castaway Cay (but we already have the note of CC5K), Gibraltar (ashore is 7:30 and I know many are on tours), or Barcelona (we will all be too busy crying and finding a way to become castaways remaining onboard)

I figured if I put it on the calendar it will be a good reminder for us to get our exercise in for the day first thing!

Welcome!!!!

I'm in charge of the Secret Mickey (see post on page 1.
Signing up closed last weekend but if you want i can still let you get in.
Currently working out the list of everybody who signed up and send out an email to all participants end of this week.

If you want to join, you are more then welcome to but please sign up today.
Send me a pm with all the info needed.

I didn't get an upgrade either (well, booked 11C GTY and got 11B!!) but am very happy with room location. Deck 5 aft, so can easily run up the stairs to the drinks area, as well as the secret deck 7!

Was in a very similar location on 1st cruise and loved it.

I will send a pm so FE list can be updated with my cabin number.

Talking of fish extenders, if anyone reading this has put their child down on the list without an age I would be really grateful if they could update! I try and do age appropriate gifts, but if I don't know the age it is a bit tricky! Many thanks.

I hadn't heard about that possibility! We are checking our bags through, so I'll cross my fingers but not hold my breath ;)

You are a smart cookie to get four pairs while you can. I was just moaning about the girls' current favorite shoes; they are from Lands End and no longer available. And the girls need new ones!

I hope to do better on this trip but sadly don't have much faith. I have never been known as a light packer. Only out of necessity does it work. lol

I need to call and check on our flights with Disney. Is that the only way you find out? They don't send you anything? I know someone else was waiting to see if the waitlist was lifted for Barcelona. Did you find out anything?

I see the luggage cost mentioned. How does that work? If you check your luggage all the way thru then it's free?
Wow, that is some light packing! Glad he made it through customs hahaha!

We are leaving for Lake Tahoe tomorrow and are taking three suitcases and two roller boards, plus we each have a backpack/messenger bag (and by each, I mean the four of us haha). I think I need more practice! :lmao:

I contacted my TA and asked about it as someone else here had gotten her Disney Air info. DCL told him, the TA, that they were working on it that day. Once they had it settled, they sent him the info and he passed it on to me. But right now, if I look at my reservation with www.disneycruise.com it's listed under my reservation summary. I clicked on that, then went to flight, hotel, transfers and clicked on it. Flight details was there as well.

For the luggage fees I asked the TA and he verified. It just depends on what airline you are flying and what their fees are. Our airlines (United and Delta) have fees for domestic flights, but not for international ones. We have two legs that are domestic.

Good luck!
