~~~ May 16, 2009 ~~~ Western Magic ~~~
Okay, finally have time to post replies from the weekend. We'll see how long this workout ends up being! :laughing:
If anyone didn't want to look through the entire FB album I posted this morning, here's a group photo. Our friends hosted a Murder at the Deadwood Saloon party (circa 1874). I'm front & center in the blue with the floppy hat. JorDan, what do you think of our wardrobes?!?! The local costume shop made a killing off this party! It was so much fun! BTW, Justin ended up being the murderer!! :scared1:
I just ordered my rewards card to "pay" for all the shopping, excursions, pictures, Palo fee, etc. I have over $800!
WTG! :thumbsup2 We applied almost $400 to the cost of the cruise and now have another $200 or so to apply as OBC when we get on the ship! Or towards rebooking...not sure which one will need more of the "free money." :rotfl:
did this work
No. :confused3 Is it from a photobucket acct?
would it be to much to ask which is everyone's favorite character. we are trying to figure out items for the FE and have to divi everything up.
Hmmmm...that's a hard one. There are so many great ones to choose from...
Hudson & Lennon say Pluto or Mater
Mine is anyone from Cars or Woody's Roundup Gang or Aladdin & Jasmine or...
Justin...I have no idea. Probably Ramone. :confused3
I have been off of the boards for awhile, we were wavering whether we would have to cancel our cruise! I have started a new job and my husband has been working and living 6 hours away from us for over a year-- our lives have been drama drama drama!!
Oh no, Kristine! We're so close, and to not know would be torture for me!! Glad to hear you'll be with us after all!! :thumbsup2 BTW, I don't think I've put your family pix up on posts 1&2 yet. Can I use the ones in your sig? I think I have you as a family of 4, but I see 5 in the pix. Did I forget someone on your family stats?
If anyone else has posted family pix and I haven't updated them, please remind me!! I'd hate for someone to get missed. I try to read every new post as it comes in but don't always have time to reply right away (or update the stats on 1&2). Then I think I'm going to catch everything when I go back, but I might have missed something. Please PM me with any changes or updates that need to be done! Thx! :goodvibes
This picture was taken at the Magic Kingdom (Not so Scary Halloween Party)
in 2007. We all basically look the same.. the kids are a little older now:)
This is Kerwin's twin brother Kevin, DW Aida, and DS Christian.
GREAT PIX of both families! Beautiful children! :goodvibes
My biggest thing I ever did was get my belly button pierced, at the time I though it was a huge deal, lol
I got mine done with some friends MANY years ago but took it out after a year or so. Then I came across an awesome Harley stud with 5 diamonds and just had to have it! So it went back in! Then I decided to get my nose pierced on our first trip to Sturgis during bike week 3-4 yrs ago. Ouch! My mom freaked, too, but everyone is used to it by now. Now I only know it's there when I look in the mirror or if someone comments on it, which isn't very often anymore.
Happy news for us... Adam has only been at his new job for 2.5 months and was named the Employee of the Month with his company!!!
WTG Adam!! :thumbsup2 What does he do?
It's on my right upper back/shoulder.
Here's a preview....
329246.jpg
Looks great!!
I compiled these from a post on another thread.
Thanks so much, Jane!! I did something similar for my mom just the other day but didn't have it organized like yours! I'll have to pass yours on to her! :goodvibes
How dressed up is everyone going for the Pirate night?
We'll be in Palo, so we'll be all dressed up in our fancies! Not sure if I'll put the boys in anything piratey or not. I'm sure they'd like to, but I just haven't looked yet.
It looks like we will have Brent as our CD
I've heard only great things about him! I'm anxious to "see" him! I hear he's real eye candy! :blush: We had Rachel last time. I'm sure this sounds silly, but does the CD really make that much difference in the enjoyment of the cruise? It seemed like the only times I saw Rachel were at the sailaway party, the Til We Meet Again party, and on TV for the disembarkation instructions. :confused3
So I'm being to freak out a little bit. I'm getting pretty worried about having late dining and being waitlisted for early. It's just the 3 of us travelling and with a 4 year old I've never had late dining. We always eat together in the dining room on the cruises we take and now I'm afraid if we stay with late dining it'll mess everything up. My 4 year old just can't wait until 8pm for a long dinner -- even with snacks and such. She's good, but that's pushing it.
Since there are some experienced DCL cruisers here, any suggestions?
We had late last time with 3 & 5 y/o. One or both slept through every supper, which, actually was kind of nice! :laughing: Our servers set up chairs pushed together for beds and covered them with tablecloths for blankets. Justin & I had nice dinners basically by ourselves! We were at a table with just us, so that may have made a difference, but we have early this time with the big group, so I'm sure they'll do better since they're older now. Believe me, they definitely did not go hungry last time, even though they basically skipped dinner. We ordered a cheese tray every evening when we were getting ready, but they also ate endless pizza, hot dogs, tacos, & ice cream all day long. :scared1:
Mati, Jane, and whoever else was doing the linking of ressies, would you want to PM me the DIS names that you linked so I can put it on post #1 for easy reference? Thanks!
Mati--did you win big in Vegas?!?!
Last night I would have agreed with you, but tonight we made a comeback so we'll have to see....:rotfl2:
LOL you got me there, :confused3 I dont know what happened lastnight! Im keeping my fingers crossed! Its going to be tight! But the scrum at the end of the game was a great sneek peek at what the 1st round of the playoffs would be like for the ducks and sharks!!!
Oh my, ALL DAY LONG we have had snow...like 5", looking outside I Cant wait for Cruising!!!:cloud9:
Im checking daily for our Cabin number... Not Yet!!!:rolleyes1
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!!!!! That looks like it was SO much fun!!! I'm dying for a Costume party! People here just don't get into them.
For my birthday last year I had an Alice & Wonderland, Very Merry UnBirthday Party. Only me and my dad dressed up! haha (Even though i couldn't find an Alice dress, I had to improvise with a white dress & blue sweater combo).
I give you 2 thumbs up for effort!:woohoo:
Belinda- Happy to have you back!! I'm so sorry you are having troubles with your mom, She's in my thoughts!
Can't believe we only have 38 Days!!! To me, it sounds SO much closer than saying 5 weeks! haha
Shasess- LOVE IT!! Great detail! Are you going to fill it in with color?
We have a black cocker named Abbey. I'll see about taking a photo of her, which is a challenge because of her humongous cataracts (she's ben blind for years bc of these and underlying glaucoma and retinal degeneration)
I also used to have a dog with really bad cataracts, she was totally blind for probably 5 years before she passed away. The poor thing had diabetes and had to take insulin shots twice a day and she also had addisons decease and had to take quite a bit of medication and a special diet. She was definately a very time consuming dog but she was my mom's baby and was extremely frisky and playful until her last doggie day!
For everyone that has been posting family pics they are great, keep them coming!
Val - I'm soo jealous of your costume party, I've always wanted to do something like that. I'm in the same boat as JorDan because people around here aren't that into costume/themed parties.
Belinda - Sorry to hear about your mother, I hope she is doing better and I'm glad you were able to checkin in with us, we've missed you! :cutie:
The tips are great too! I'm always excited to learn how to do things better, cheaper, faster, etc. Now we just have to wait until May 16th!
Hi Val,
That would be fine if you would like to use my signature as a pic, I will look and see if I could find another as well!!
Our 16year old daughter is going to New York City on a school trip and then has decided that it would be too hard for her to miss more school with grad next year so my poor baby has to stay back with our chocolate lab Kona, and Gramma!!
So there will still be just the four of us!
I have been trying to catch up now knowing that we are definitely going, I finally told the boys last night and they are so excited and have so many questions lol!! Keaton was wondering if we could catch the Magic on the other side of the Magic Kingdom...
Thanks to you all for the warm welcome back and good thoughts:love:
Kristin
Shasess- LOVE IT!! Great detail! Are you going to fill it in with color?
Unfortunately certain colors (in tattoos) do not show up very well on darker skin tones. The tattoo artist recommended against it. He said that he could do her dress in red or a darker shade of green but I decided that I would rather have it without any color at all than have it with the wrong color....but I love her just the same :love:
Belinda: Welcome back! I'm sorry to hear things have been so stressful for you and hope they are going to get better quickly!:hug:
Mati: Hope you had an amazing time in Vegas!:cool1:
Shawan: I love your tatoo! I guess I've never seen a lime green tatoo on a darker skinned person...bummer as it would be pretty cool though! Since I make $$ cutting them off, I figured I better not get one! Adam and I occasionally think about them though...:rolleyes1
Val: Your party looked amazing and very fun! Those parties don't happen here either...so I'm jealous! Love the outfits!
Kris: Sorry your daughter can't come, but glad the rest of your are going to make it!
DTA: Beautiful family!
Lyndsay: Yep. We love Abbey, but when we lived in Jacksonville she had her own primary vet, opthalmologist, neurologist, and dermatologist! Thankfully, she got lots better in Vegas and is so far doing well here in Tennessee! She's Adam's baby!
I'm with the person who asked about the importance of the cruise director. In 3 other cruises, I don't remember the CD of any of them!
Hope everyone has a great week!
Ok....I'm back. I will try my best to catch up since I've been off the boards for a little while.
BELINDA!!! YOU'RE BACK!!! :grouphug:
It's so good to hear from you again!! We've missed you!! I didn't want to keep hounding you with more PM's. I'm glad you've checked in with all us worryworts.
I hope your mom is doing okay. Please keep us updated. :worried:
HI Everyone! We are home. Vegas was fun. I got a little tan (it was kind of chilly there!) but am still pretty white for a Hispanic chick from Texas. Still need to work on getting some color before the cruise!!!! I will share some pics and food porn tomorrow. One thing I will say is I got Yoni into the whole food porn thing and he started to take pictures or suggest pictures for me. It was hilarious!!!!! :rotfl: We had some incredible meals there and Yoni won -- not big but enough to cover most of our expenses.....
You guys were busy. I did cheat and read a lot of posts from my Blackberry while I was there but couldn't respond. So....instead of going back through everything and trying to quote right -- am just going to take a stab at it.
First off -- WELCOME :cheer2: to the new folks. Sorry don't have names down yet, but that will come. I have been working hard on that the past few weeks!
Shawan -- LOVE LOVE LOVE the tattoo! I was just talking to Yoni about getting a tattoo for my 40th birthday (in a couple of years) and suggested a different place -- he suggested exactly where you got yours!!!! I showed him the pic -- he thought it was cute! We'll see....have 2 years to figure it out!
Ummmm---someone, sorry, don't remember who, wanted our favorite characters: Me -- Ariel & Eeyore, Yoni -- Pete(is that his name who hangs with Mickey) & Pluto, Sabrina -- Tink or any of the dogs from ANY of the dog movies (she is a major animal lover), Kai -- Wall-E or Stitch. Hope that helps!
Jane -- your tips were great!!!! I loved reading through them last night! It gets me so excited about the cruise!
Val -- all I can say is WOW -- to have friends who will do a murder mystery costume party like that -- how amazing! I love that sort of thing but like others on the board, can't ge anyone to dress up with me!
JorDan -- kids have full on pirate costumes, me and Yoni are still working ours out but will dress up to some extent.
Lynsey -- I want to work out too. I don't remember who else talked about that but count me in. I am an early bird and a walk/jog around deck 4(is that right?) sounds great early in the morning. Wouldn't mind a spin class too. I also read (and we did this on our other cruise) to take the stairs everywhere so we will do that too -- even with the kids griping about it.
Belinda -- Welcome back. You and your Mom are in my thoughts and prayers. Let me know if you need anything at all....
Kym -- I'll have Sabrina write Faith first thing after school tomorrow. Did you pick a hotel yet? Love the idea of a limo to the Port.... Glad Dempsey is working. I hope it keeps up! Between Dempsey and JorDan -- sounds like I can get my movie fix!!!
Kim -- try to get early dining. Would love to have you, Chris & Chelsea join us for dinner too if you are up for it!!!!
Cinda -- how exciting about the job for Adam!!! Woo Hoo!!!!
Ok -- new pictures, love them! Love to see a guy with Mickey Ears on! I have one with Yoni with a Goofy hat -- need to post that -- sure he would love it :laughing:
Kristin -- glad you are still joining us!!!! Sorry your daughter can't join us but glad you will be along for the trip!
Val -- will PM the linked ressies tomorrow. Worried I am so tired will screw it up tonight!!!!
Ok, think that caught me up (at least I hope it did!). I am pretty scared about the posts on the main forum I haven't read! I am also a bit worried -- 38 days to the cruise and I have so much to do! MIL leaves on Saturday, then Easter and yes, we still have to finish taxes. After that -- the only thing on my mind will be the trip! I guess it is time to start on FE gifts!!! Woo Hoo!!
Good night everyone!!!!
Here is a picture from my parents 50th.
GREAT PIX!! Thanks for sharing!! I updated them to post #2.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!!!!! That looks like it was SO much fun!!! I'm dying for a Costume party! People here just don't get into them.
We have TONS of costume parties!! It's actually tapered off in the last few years, but someone ALWAYS has a Halloween party. We've been Queen Bee & Worker Bee, I Dream of Jeannie & her "Master," Toga, Homer & Marge Simpson, and a Brick (me) & Brick layer. :rotfl2: We also occasionally have other costume parties just for the fun of it--usually a Super 70's party or something like that.
For everyone that has been posting family pics they are great, keep them coming!
YES!! WE WANT MORE!! :goodvibes
That would be fine if you would like to use my signature as a pic, I will look and see if I could find another as well!!
Got ya updated! :thumbsup2
Our 16year old daughter is going to New York City on a school trip and then has decided that it would be too hard for her to miss more school with grad next year so my poor baby has to stay back with our chocolate lab Kona, and Gramma!!
Awwww...shucks for her!!
Yoni won -- not big but enough to cover most of our expenses.....
:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: Yeah!!! WoooooHoooooo!!!! WTG!! I'd be happy about that!!! :thumbsup2
Lynsey -- I want to work out too. I don't remember who else talked about that but count me in. I am an early bird and a walk/jog around deck 4(is that right?) sounds great early in the morning. Wouldn't mind a spin class too. I also read (and we did this on our other cruise) to take the stairs everywhere so we will do that too -- even with the kids griping about it.
Well, the more people that are wanting to join in is making me want to join in, too!!! :banana: I'll let the guys sleep in, and I'll hang with my peeps!! I'm sure I'll need to work off some of the multiple desserts I'll be eating every day. :blush:
Kim -- try to get early dining. Would love to have you, Chris & Chelsea join us for dinner too if you are up for it!!!!
:banana: Kim-Lots of people have already been changed from late to early, so it might still happen for you! If so, we would definitely like to have you join our "little" group!! :laughing:
Val -- will PM the linked ressies tomorrow. Worried I am so tired will screw it up tonight!!!!
Sounds good!!
Here are some better shots for Bob Margaret and Sarah (other than the photoshopped version that they do not want me to post)
For those who booked gty 12
I've done this twice and this will be my third time. Each time I booked, abut 30-32 days out the room number showed up on my ressie I had no clue as to what I got. With all my excitement I had to go searching the deck plans for my room. The first cruise was a 4 day and we booked a 12 and got a 12. The second time was a 3 day and we booked a 12 and got a 9 on deck 1.
This time when I see my room assignment I will at least know this.
So for any of us waiting:
Deck 1 rooms that end in a even number are cat 9 two portholes
odd is cat 10
Deck 2 is the same with the exception of the cat 12 rooms.
They start at 2009-2021 and 2509-2519 and count by 2's in odd numbers.
In simple terms if you log in and your room is on deck 1 or 2 and ends in a even number you were up graded to a 9.
If it is on deck 1 or 2 and ends in a odd number it is most likely a cat 10 with the exception of the 12's above. If you get one of those you booked a 12 and got a 12. (2009,11,13,15,17,19,21 and 2509,11,13,15,17,19)
So I'm sending some pixie dust to all of us DIS'ers that if we get deck 1 or 2 it ends in an even number. From what I can tell there have been quite a few Dis'ers that booked a 12. So that should mean a few non dis'ers booked 12's too and at least a few of us should get a nice surprise.
I'm not even gonna look at the upper deck plans, if I get 5 or higher I will once again be searching for the deck plans to see what I got.
Hopefully, a week from today and we will know.
Marcy
Hi Kim! This is Kym! Don't worry about being waitlisted. Several of us were waitlisted and I think everyone got moved. Give it time and it will probably change on it's own. We were waitlisted twice in the past and they changed it onboard (especially because we had little kids).
HI Everyone! We are home. Vegas was fun. I got a little tan (it was kind of chilly there!) but am still pretty white for a Hispanic chick from Texas. Still need to work on getting some color before the cruise!!!!
Glad you had a good time in Vegas! Do you have any winnings to report? Hopefully you didn't spend your cruise money trying to win big! :scared1:
Did you dig into the pirate costumes yet? The girls will definitely be in costume. Dempsey & I might just wear white shirts with a pirate picture on the front and a pirate hat or bandana. I have to prioritize here....do you guys want your handmade FE gifts or want to see me dressed as a pirate?!?!:confused3:rotfl2: Time is running out! Still haven't bought anything! I ship all of my FE items to the ship so I have to get them out ahead of time!
We are pretty sure we are going to stay at the Swan! It stinks because they require payment in full and it's nonrefundable. I don't like that n case of emergency! It's too bad you guys are doing Epcot though because the kids could hang out during the day. I was thinking we could meetup for swimming when you guys come back from the park. I called several limo companies today. Luggage is an issue though. How much are you going to be packing? We will probably be laughing at you as you guys haul suitcases to the car! Been there, done that!
Hubby is done with the TV pilot that he was working on (only 7 days). It's another waiting game.
Thanks Jane for posting this! After having cruised 3 times, there were a few that has either changed or I didn't know about.
DON'T WAIT IN THE KIDS CLUB REGISTRATION LINE AT THE PORT!!!! Seriously, the line seemed to be over a hundred people long at most times (we were there around 11:00 AM and boarded around 12:30 PM). When you get on the ship just go to the kids club, we went to the Oceaneer's club on Deck 5 and registered in about 5 minutes (and got our pager).
I would much rather stand in line at the port to register kids. The line may seem long but they get through it fast. Plus, why waste time on the ship when you first get on instead of wasting time standing in the port waiting to be called!?!?!
Ask the room steward to remove your coffee table and he did. We didn't use it and it gave us a lot of needed floor space!
I can't imagine not having the coffee table! :eek: That's where we ate room service and breakfast most days!
Don't buy souvenir Tshirts for the kids -- they get them and Mickey ear graduation hats for free from the Kid's club the day before the cruise ends
They don't do the graduation anymore with the shirt and mickey hats. They now do "Friendship rocks" and still get a colored tshirt. They do the same things in both programs - sing, see a slide show, Mickey & minnie come out on stage.
Lysol everything. You can even ask for one of the tubs of hand wipes in your room!
I never knew you could ask for hand wipes in your room!
Re-book on board! Save at least 10% on your next cruise
Plus the $200 Onboard Credit!!:cool1:
If you have kids don't bring a white board or water bottles -- they give them away for free in the kids' clubs and Ocean Quest
I have never heard of this. The girls have been in the club for 3 cruises and we never got a white board or water bottle. Anyone else get these from the clubs?:confused3
There are some tips that I will point out in another post that are my definites and must haves! Like I said before, the first time I cruised, I overpacked X4! I took the tips way too literally and had too much stuff!
Hi there,
I am feverishly trying to get together my fish extender goodies, I have a few questions and I am sorry if they have been asked but here goes....
First of all, do we put everything together in one little bag and put it in the extender? Or do we drop off a little at a time?? I am trying to personalize to each family so I was going to tag each little bag.
Also do we still have any Hanna Montana fans? HSM or Camp Rock???
This is so much fun!!!!!
K
Hi Kristin! I do put my items in bags and tag them also! My older daughter likes Hannah Montana and HSM.
Belinda - Glad you're back! Sending blessings your way!:hug:
Val - I've never even been to a costume party! If I were asked to go to one, I wouldn't even know where to start! Looks like fun!
Mati - did you get a chance to talk to Yoni about Chankanaab? I read that they actually have a spot to dive. I don't know any more details than that. I know they have a snorkeling area which would be truer to life than snorkeling at Castaway Cay. I read that the beach isn't very good but there's still the sand to play in. The pool looks great also.
Have a great night!
Kym
Anyone staying at or around the Swan/Dolphin Hotel and looking into transportation to the port? Mati & I are probably gonna do a limo for our families. If there are others, who knows, we could end up in an Excursion Limo or Hummer/Navigator Limo!:confused3 Let the party begin!!:cool1:
Hehehe I'll take FE gifts over Pirate outfits..pirate: I dress up in theme's for the park...so I have a pirate outfit, Finding Nemo outfit, Princess outfit, Mickey outfit. haha I love a theme!!
UGH! I hate the waiting game for Pilots!! I did one in September and Italy bought the rights and have just been palying with us when we can shoot a series! Good luck with that!
I went to Chankanaab Park and snorkeled there. I loved it, very pretty. I'm interested in the dive there, but I'm surprised Disney doesn't offer you to dive there. We signed up to do the otehr Dive in Cozumel through Disney. So excited!
i just looked, no room assignment yet. Bummer. Not that I was expecting it, but one can always hope.
I have to admit I don't remember the cruise director from either of my previous 2 Disney cruises. I didn't do much other than sit by the pool, drink the drink of the day, and read. That's probably why. This is the first time I'm planning to do a lot of the onboard activities.
What I DO remember are my servers and how wonderful they were on both cruises. I also remember feeling outraged on my first cruise. I noticed the number of people that didn't show up for dinner the last night, and when I asked my servers they told me that when people don't want to leave a tip they ditch the last dinner. Tips are the first thing I budget for. If I don't have the money to tip, I certainly don't have the money to go on an excursion.
hello,
just posting real quick
i still owe for the bracelets- i will do asap.
i have 4 gty cat 12 booked. so can't wait til next week. kinda mad after reading though becasue my travel agent would not let us book4 to the room- even though the 4th person would have been a toddler. (ages 2 or 3)
i can not wait for this vacation! i barely have time to post on the board. Everyone else seems to be doing so much- magnets, FE, etc. I wish i could do all of this. But I guess once i am on teh cruise i will be happy no matter what!!!
Good Morning Everyone!!!!!
Jane---- Thank you so much for the tips. As a first timer I'm sure they will come in handy!!!
Belinda----- It's good to have you back! Sorry to hear about your Mom.
Val----- Great party pics!! You guys looked awesome!
Kristin---- Glad to hear that you guys have decided to make the cruise!
Marcy---I have been checking for room assignments daily as well! Thank for the tips!
I'm loving all the family pics that have been posted recently! Keep em' coming!!!!!
