~~~ May 16, 2009 ~~~ Western Magic ~~~
are the cat 12 much different than cat 10?
i booked the 12 and will be fine with it. we are never in the room.
is it just the size that is mostly different and the single bath?
Here are some better shots for Bob Margaret and Sarah (other than the photoshopped version that they do not want me to post)
Maplemouse (Margaret & Bob) -- your family is BEAUTIFUL! dta87 (Dave & Susan) -- thank you for sharing more pictures!!!! I LOVE to see the pictures!
I'm not even gonna look at the upper deck plans, if I get 5 or higher I will once again be searching for the deck plans to see what I got. Marcy
Marcy & Everyone Else with GTY cabins -- :wizard:Sending you all lots of pixie dust! :wizard:I hope that some of you (if not all of you) end up on deck 6 with us! We need some good neighbors! Who knows -- maybe one of you will be our connecting room neighbors (wouldn't that be fabulous? kind of nervous about it otherwise). Yoni and I talked about inquiring on upgrades to Cat 3 at the port but thinking it will still be waaaaaaayyyyyy out of our pricerange :scared1: but I figure, it is worth a shot!
Glad you had a good time in Vegas! Do you have any winnings to report? Hopefully you didn't spend your cruise money trying to win big! :scared1:
Thanks Kym! Ok, so let's see....I think he won @$400 or so? so not too much. We spent a bit more than that on meals & hotel but in the end only spent a $200 or so after his winnings(not counting our cheap airfare). Not bad for a weekend in Vegas! So -- one thing I will share is that I had the most expensive (non-work related) meal of my life while we were there. I didn't have my camera so no food porn but we do have some wine porn :laughing:. The bottle was way more than we would ever spend (more like 4 bottles of what we buy as a splurge!) so Yoni was compelled to take a pic with his iphone. Needless to say, my MIL and her DH paid for dinner (and picked out the wine). It was great!!!! We also had probably the most expensive breakfast I've ever had (and no one had any alcohol!) :scared1:. Again....MIL/MILDH picked up the tab. The night we paid was still pretty pricy but ony @ 1/3 of what they spent....it was certainly interesting travelling with them!!!!!!
Did you dig into the pirate costumes yet? The girls will definitely be in costume. Dempsey & I might just wear white shirts with a pirate picture on the front and a pirate hat or bandana. I have to prioritize here....do you guys want your handmade FE gifts or want to see me dressed as a pirate?!?!:confused3:rotfl2: Time is running out! Still haven't bought anything! I ship all of my FE items to the ship so I have to get them out ahead of time!
I need to try the kids' costumes on but they have them. I need to "girl" Sabrina's up -- it is kind of boyish -- so planning on adding rhinestones or something to it. Hmmmm.....do they still have the thing called a Bedazzler ont he market??? That is about all the sewing I could pull off!!! :rotfl:
I think me and Yoni are looking for the same thing. I was hoping to go to Treasure Island while I was there to buy us some shirts but it never happened so.....
We are pretty sure we are going to stay at the Swan! It stinks because they require payment in full and it's nonrefundable. I don't like that n case of emergency! It's too bad you guys are doing Epcot though because the kids could hang out during the day. I was thinking we could meetup for swimming when you guys come back from the park. I called several limo companies today. Luggage is an issue though. How much are you going to be packing? We will probably be laughing at you as you guys haul suitcases to the car! Been there, done that!
Kym -- I hope you stay at the Swan! I think you said that you are a teacher right? They have teacher rates -- didn't you tell me you are a teacher? I am surprised they are nonrefundable. I thought you could get the deposit back if you cancel within 48 hours or something.
We'll meet up by the pool for sure. As for packing -- we'll talk more. I will need help not overpacking. I overpacked for Vegas!!! If you help me (and set limits) we will make it work!!!! How cool -- a limo to the port! The kids will feel so special!
Did Hubby is done with the TV pilot that he was working on (only 7 days). It's another waiting game.
Here's some pixie dust -- hoping he lands another project before the trip! :wizard:
Mati - did you get a chance to talk to Yoni about Chankanaab? I read that they actually have a spot to dive. I don't know any more details than that. I know they have a snorkeling area which would be truer to life than snorkeling at Castaway Cay. I read that the beach isn't very good but there's still the sand to play in. The pool looks great also.
We haven't talked about it again yet but will ask. I know Kim is also going to Nachi Cocum so that helps with Kai. One thing that scares me away is the onlyl times I can get with the dolphins at Chankanaab are later in the day or too early in the morning. I will keep looking into it.....I wonder how far apart they are? I'll look into the diving too for Yoni. I'll email you tonight. Have a MILLION questions if you have some time to help.
Anyone staying at or around the Swan/Dolphin Hotel and looking into transportation to the port? Mati & I are probably gonna do a limo for our families. If there are others, who knows, we could end up in an Excursion Limo or Hummer/Navigator Limo!:confused3 Let the party begin!!:cool1:
:yay::yay::yay:Now how cool would that be?:yay::yay::yay:
I went to Chankanaab Park and snorkeled there. I loved it, very pretty. I'm interested in the dive there, but I'm surprised Disney doesn't offer you to dive there. We signed up to do the otehr Dive in Cozumel through Disney. So excited!
JorDan -- you guys are diving in GC too right? I told Yoni you were. He is a bit nervous to dive in Coz because they are drift dives and he isn't that experienced -- PLUS, didn't really want to have both kids on my own for 2 ports!!!!
I have to admit I don't remember the cruise director from either of my previous 2 Disney cruises. I didn't do much other than sit by the pool, drink the drink of the day, and read. That's probably why. This is the first time I'm planning to do a lot of the onboard activities.
What I DO remember are my servers and how wonderful they were on both cruises. I also remember feeling outraged on my first cruise. I noticed the number of people that didn't show up for dinner the last night, and when I asked my servers they told me that when people don't want to leave a tip they ditch the last dinner. Tips are the first thing I budget for. If I don't have the money to tip, I certainly don't have the money to go on an excursion.
Tammy, I read about that on the board and am shocked that people would do that! Wow -- I can't even imagine. As for how you spent your last 2 cruises, that is what we did this weekend, sit by the pool, drink a fruity drink and read....it was nice. I think we will do a bit of that this trip (Yoni may do a lot of that!).
i can not wait for this vacation! i barely have time to post on the board. Everyone else seems to be doing so much- magnets, FE, etc. I wish i could do all of this. But I guess once i am on teh cruise i will be happy no matter what!!!
Megan -- I haven't started yet either and with work.....makes it hard!!!! Don't worry, you will enjoy the cruise no matter what!
Ok -- Woo Hoo, it is getting closer!!!! I have 2 days (ok, 1 and 1/2 days) at the house without MIL (she is still in Vegas) so am going to WFH and enjoy them before they come back on Wed. Need to do laundry! :laundy:
Have a GREAT day everyone!
Okay, finally have time to post replies from the weekend. We'll see how long this workout ends up being! :laughing:
If anyone didn't want to look through the entire FB album I posted this morning, here's a group photo. Our friends hosted a Murder at the Deadwood Saloon party (circa 1874). I'm front & center in the blue with the floppy hat. JorDan, what do you think of our wardrobes?!?! The local costume shop made a killing off this party! It was so much fun! BTW, Justin ended up being the murderer!! :scared1:
DSC_0060.jpg
WTG! :thumbsup2 We applied almost $400 to the cost of the cruise and now have another $200 or so to apply as OBC when we get on the ship! Or towards rebooking...not sure which one will need more of the "free money." :rotfl:
No. :confused3 Is it from a photobucket acct?
Hmmmm...that's a hard one. There are so many great ones to choose from...
Hudson & Lennon say Pluto or Mater
Mine is anyone from Cars or Woody's Roundup Gang or Aladdin & Jasmine or...
Justin...I have no idea. Probably Ramone. :confused3
Oh no, Kristine! We're so close, and to not know would be torture for me!! Glad to hear you'll be with us after all!! :thumbsup2 BTW, I don't think I've put your family pix up on posts 1&2 yet. Can I use the ones in your sig? I think I have you as a family of 4, but I see 5 in the pix. Did I forget someone on your family stats?
If anyone else has posted family pix and I haven't updated them, please remind me!! I'd hate for someone to get missed. I try to read every new post as it comes in but don't always have time to reply right away (or update the stats on 1&2). Then I think I'm going to catch everything when I go back, but I might have missed something. Please PM me with any changes or updates that need to be done! Thx! :goodvibes
GREAT PIX of both families! Beautiful children! :goodvibes
I got mine done with some friends MANY years ago but took it out after a year or so. Then I came across an awesome Harley stud with 5 diamonds and just had to have it! So it went back in! Then I decided to get my nose pierced on our first trip to Sturgis during bike week 3-4 yrs ago. Ouch! My mom freaked, too, but everyone is used to it by now. Now I only know it's there when I look in the mirror or if someone comments on it, which isn't very often anymore.
WTG Adam!! :thumbsup2 What does he do?
Looks great!!
Thanks so much, Jane!! I did something similar for my mom just the other day but didn't have it organized like yours! I'll have to pass yours on to her! :goodvibes
We'll be in Palo, so we'll be all dressed up in our fancies! Not sure if I'll put the boys in anything piratey or not. I'm sure they'd like to, but I just haven't looked yet.
I've heard only great things about him! I'm anxious to "see" him! I hear he's real eye candy! :blush: We had Rachel last time. I'm sure this sounds silly, but does the CD really make that much difference in the enjoyment of the cruise? It seemed like the only times I saw Rachel were at the sailaway party, the Til We Meet Again party, and on TV for the disembarkation instructions. :confused3
We had late last time with 3 & 5 y/o. One or both slept through every supper, which, actually was kind of nice! :laughing: Our servers set up chairs pushed together for beds and covered them with tablecloths for blankets. Justin & I had nice dinners basically by ourselves! We were at a table with just us, so that may have made a difference, but we have early this time with the big group, so I'm sure they'll do better since they're older now. Believe me, they definitely did not go hungry last time, even though they basically skipped dinner. We ordered a cheese tray every evening when we were getting ready, but they also ate endless pizza, hot dogs, tacos, & ice cream all day long. :scared1:
Mati, Jane, and whoever else was doing the linking of ressies, would you want to PM me the DIS names that you linked so I can put it on post #1 for easy reference? Thanks!
Mati--did you win big in Vegas?!?!
Val.
I love the photo. DH & i have wanted to do this for years. How did you get the script did you use a company or make it up? You guys all look great!
Kim -- try to get early dining. Would love to have you, Chris & Chelsea join us for dinner too if you are up for it!!!!
I think we could handle it!
Kim-Lots of people have already been changed from late to early, so it might still happen for you! If so, we would definitely like to have you join our "little" group!! :laughing:
Thanks, I'm hoping the change happens. I think I'll call my travel agent and possibly disney today and see what I can do.
Hi Kim! This is Kym! Don't worry about being waitlisted. Several of us were waitlisted and I think everyone got moved. Give it time and it will probably change on it's own. We were waitlisted twice in the past and they changed it onboard (especially because we had little kids).
Kym
I'm trying not to worry, but it's hard.
Anyone staying at or around the Swan/Dolphin Hotel and looking into transportation to the port? Mati & I are probably gonna do a limo for our families. If there are others, who knows, we could end up in an Excursion Limo or Hummer/Navigator Limo!:confused3 Let the party begin!!:cool1:
We'll be at the Boardwalk and I'm looking for transportation as well. I just want to get the the port earlier so that I can attempt to change that dining. We will have a bunch of luggage though since we have a week in WDW before the cruise. Just a warning.
I don't consider myself a true over-packer. I'm more like a prepared packer. I use all of my clothes and shoes that I pack but it's the other stuff that I tend to have a lot of. I've decided that this is a vacation and I'm not going to bring my computer with me. When I have my computer I feel compelled to work :rolleyes1. That's another heavy item that I don't need to pack.
Since Disney provides tolietries in their cabins then that's more I don't have to worry about. Well, except for me. I still need my own shampoo and conditioner and body wash. I have really sensitive skin and Aveeno is about the only body wash I can tolerate. And curly, dry hair doesn't do too well with mystery shampoo and conditioner.
I'm also going to try to get some pictures posted here soon. I'm not very tech savy -- that's what husbands are for. So I'll need him to help me post a pic. later. No promises, but I'll do my best.
Here are some better shots for Bob Margaret and Sarah
Got them on post #2!! I think I need to go back and list everyone's names in order of the pix, though, so we can get all the right names for your big group!
Hubby is done with the TV pilot that he was working on (only 7 days). It's another waiting game.
Ooooooh!!! Can you give any scoop on what it was?!?! (I'm a TV junkie!) :laughing: I always like to hear about new stuff coming out! My TV Guide keeps me updated on stuff like that, but I'd love to know more now!!
I would much rather stand in line at the port to register kids. The line may seem long but they get through it fast. Plus, why waste time on the ship when you first get on instead of wasting time standing in the port waiting to be called!?!?!
I agree with you on this!! This time, I will do it right after checking in. We waited a little too long to do it in the port last time. Since we had a boarding pass #3, by the time we got the pager, they were starting to call numbers, and we had left our carryons with the other DISers by the TV's, so we had to head back over there to get our stuff before getting back to the boarding area. It sounds crazy, but getting there at 10 and boarding at 11:45 really went super fast!! By the time you check in, look at the model ship (before characters come out because you don't want to be the goofball in the background of everyone's pictures!), do character photos, get pager, and go out on the deck to see the ship up close, there was no down time at all!!
I can't imagine not having the coffee table! :eek: That's where we ate room service and breakfast most days!
I agree, too! Ours always had a tray on it!
I never knew you could ask for hand wipes in your room!
I didn't either!
I have never heard of this. The girls have been in the club for 3 cruises and we never got a white board or water bottle. Anyone else get these from the clubs?:confused3
Nope! None here either!
There are some tips that I will point out in another post that are my definites and must haves! Like I said before, the first time I cruised, I overpacked X4! I took the tips way too literally and had too much stuff!
I agree! I know I didn't bring EVERYTHING that the tips have suggested over the years, but I picked and chose what I thought would pertain to me. I don't think there was anything I wish I had brought that I didn't (men--look away...other than FHP!) :eek:
Val - I've never even been to a costume party! If I were asked to go to one, I wouldn't even know where to start! Looks like fun!
Once you do it, everyone has so much fun that the next party gets planned, and it just keeps going from there. It was so funny how a costume instantly changes you to "be" that person! As soon as I was dressed, I turned into a rich b!tch from Chicago! :rotfl2: (More details of the party are below!)
Yoni and I talked about inquiring on upgrades to Cat 3 at the port but thinking it will still be waaaaaaayyyyyy out of our pricerange :scared1: but I figure, it is worth a shot!
My stepdad keeps saying he wants to try to upgrade, so they may not end up being our neighbors after all! :scared:
Ok, so let's see....I think he won @$400 or so? so not too much.
NOT MUCH?!?! I'd be ecstatic!! :thumbsup2
Sounds like your meals were a nice little "extra!"
Hmmmm.....do they still have the thing called a Bedazzler ont he market???
:rotfl2: I'm sure you could get one dirt cheap on ebay!! :rotfl2:
Val.
I love the photo. DH & i have wanted to do this for years. How did you get the script did you use a company or make it up? You guys all look great!
Our friends are the ones that set the whole thing up. www.nightofmystery.com has tons of different parties to choose from. I think their pkg for 25 people was around $35. It's all downloads, so there is the cost of any specialty paper involved to print on (they used "yellowed" paper for all their stuff) and any decorations, etc. They assigned the characters (and did a PERFECT job of it!) and then sent a character description that could only be seen by that person--it gave details about the character that no one else was supposed to know. It also had a list of all the characters and some basic info about them. Then we all bombarded the local costume shop! :laughing: So when we arrived that night, we each got 2 envelopes and some play money. One envelope was opened right away, and the other was to be opened after the murder. They each contained more detailed info than what was mailed out a few weeks ago. It told you who to talk to (bribe, basically--it was strongly encouraged!) and what characters to give any false info to. So after eating our Old West BBQ (Justin cooked the pork for them!) :thumbsup2 and "mingling" with our money, the murder happened! The victim knew when the lights went out that he had to play dead. The Marshal gave details of the crime--this was about the only actual script--and then we had to mingle some more and bribe and cheat some more! We also had an actual poker tournament going on, too, which, by the end of the night, got a little out of hand--that's all I'll say about that!! :rotfl2: Anyway, the hostess then handed out slips of paper that we had to fill out--who we thought the murderer was, best performance, best costume, and the amt of $ you ended up with at that time. They tallied all the votes up, and then had another script that read why Justin's character was the murderer. :scared1: Only 1 person guessed it correctly!! The best costume went to "Miner Mark," who unfortunately was taking the group photo! (He & his wife were the hosts.) I actually received the "Drama Queen Award!" I guess it doesn't take much for me to turn into a rich b!tch! :rotfl2:
If anyone wants to look in more detail at the costumes, etc., here's the public link to my FB album again. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2008359&id=1122226710&l=ee475cfec1 Since I took most of the pix, I'm not really in very many of them, but any of my FB friends can see more that others have tagged me in (receiving my Drama Queen Award, etc.) on my photos page. Justin was my designated driver that night, so by the time the awards were presented, I was quite the "drama queen..." :rotfl2: I tried posting pics right from my FB page but couldn't get it to work. (I'm not very FB savvy yet!)
There's already talk amongst the group of doing more--Margaritaville this summer, maybe an 80's party, etc. If our hosts post pix from the party on the Night of Mystery website, they get a discount for the next party! WE CAN'T WAIT!!! :yay:
Val, thanks for all the info. I think we will have something to look forward to after our Disney cruise. It sounds like a blast. I just don't know if we could find that many couples interested in doing it. I think will have to invite everyone on here lol. Since all my Disney friends are fun and great at planning.
Check out the website because it gives more info! You can customize it to whatever size you need--8 to 10 people or 100+!! And if you decide to do a big one and need some extra people, we'd LOVE to do it again!! Pennsylvania isn't THAT far away from Nebraska, is it?!?! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
This picture was taken at the Magic Kingdom (Not so Scary Halloween Party)
in 2007. We all basically look the same.. the kids are a little older now:)
[]
Beautiful family!
They sure do :). It's kind of neat to get change back in their currency too. Another "souvenier" :)!
Thats a relief, thanks!!
Your dogs are adorable! We have a black cocker named Abbey. I'll see about taking a photo of her, which is a challenge because of her humongous cataracts (she's ben blind for years bc of these and underlying glaucoma and retinal degeneration)...
)
Oh I would love to see a picture of Abbey!
I compiled these from a post on another thread. Any others to add?
Excellent tips - thanks!
Also, How dressed up is everyone going for the Pirate night? My hubby is going to wear a skull & cross bones tshirt and a black bandana. haha I'm still putting together my outfit. Not sure how big to go....
I have got a pirate hat, and Tony has a bandana and cutless that he used for the Princess and pirate party last year. I think thats all we will do!
!
WOW! That looks like a great night!
HI Everyone! We are home. Vegas was fun. I got a little tan (it was kind of chilly there!) but am still pretty white for a Hispanic chick from Texas. Still need to work on getting some color before the cruise!!!!
Lynsey -- I want to work out too. I don't remember who else talked about that but count me in. I am an early bird and a walk/jog around deck 4(is that right?) sounds great early in the morning. Wouldn't mind a spin class too. I also read (and we did this on our other cruise) to take the stairs everywhere so we will do that too -- even with the kids griping about it.
!!
Welcome back!!!!! Glad you had fun!
Don't talk about tan . . . it is so obvious I am British once I get abroad!!! White to red and burnt to peeling to white!!!!!!!!
Ohh defo up for spinning!
Think thats caught me up! Have been too busy to type the last couple of nights!
I don't consider myself a true over-packer. I'm more like a prepared packer. I use all of my clothes and shoes that I pack but it's the other stuff that I tend to have a lot of. I'm so with you on the packing thing! I pack a lot, but I do use everything I pack! I'm probably not bringing my computer, but I am bringing my blackberry and Adam will probably bring his computer. (We'll also be bringing our Nintendo DS and PSPs... As I've said before, we are geeks!:laughing:)
I have dry curly hair that's fairly long and I definitely can't depend on the Disney stuff to work either! The one time I tried ship-stuff, my hair was very "fuzzy!" It looked like I stuck my fingers into a light socket everytime it got wet! So...I'll try the ship stuff once, but I'll definitely bring my own hair products!
Don't talk about tan . . . it is so obvious I am British once I get abroad!!! White to red and burnt to peeling to white!!!!!!!!
My DH, Chris is from England and he's the same way. I'm quite pale as well so it works out. It took me a few years of telling him about the virtures of sunblock before he really understood that red is not good.
When I first met him in Tenerife he was pale. Then the next day he was totally red and sunburned! Too much laying on the beach he said. He's come around now and realizes that being burnt is just not the way to go.
Now...when we travelled with his parents last cruise they wanted to "get some sun" and Chris reminded them about sunblock. He said that he didn't want to be seen with "British Lobsters" :rotfl: I, like the good daughter-in-law that I am stayed silent :cool2:
well I am a redheaded Native Floridian - but my maternal side is all from the UK....so I am pale but I try to tan! If all my freckles would smoosh together I would have a great tan!
OK, big news for me - I have a new job! It's with my same company - but a promotion to another department! I am thrilled!!
:woohoo:CONGRATS!!!!!!:woohoo:
Now you too can celebrate with a Cruise! hehe
Its terrible to be a Brit abroad! A few years ago we were in Australia and decided to sunbathe for a day. Tony knew better than to use sunblock . . . by that evening he was literally radioactive he was so red!!! The next day we went to the Barrier Reef for a days snorkelling, and the Captain wouldn't let him in the water unless he put a wetsuit on, as he was so worried about Tony getting even more burnt. You have never seen a grown man truly scream, until you have seen him try pull a wet, tight wetsuit off sunburn after 2 hours in the water!!! :rotfl2: I know I shouldn't laugh . . . but I do! He was bright red for ten days!!!
Yey, congrats on the new job!!!!
Kim -- I'll pm you and maybe we can make it work. Right now the smaller limo can handle 5 big bags and 6 carry on's -- I think a bigger one can hold more but not sure how big we would need to go or if it is cost efficient.
I actually received the "Drama Queen Award!" I guess it doesn't take much for me to turn into a rich b!tch! :rotfl2:
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:TOOOOO FUNNY!!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
I think will have to invite everyone on here lol. Since all my Disney friends are fun and great at planning.
Crystal -- we are game but Texas may be a bit of a drive. Better get a DD!!!
Don't talk about tan . . . it is so obvious I am British once I get abroad!!! White to red and burnt to peeling to white!!!!!!!!
Awww.......it won't matter. Even being Mexican Amercian I can burn! Seriously Sonya -- how do you think Finns look? Super duper white living in all that cold and darkness! After living there for awhile, my skin took on the same paleness and now I have to really work on getting a tan!!!!
I'm probably not bringing my computer, but I am bringing my blackberry and Adam will probably bring his computer. (We'll also be bringing our Nintendo DS and PSPs... As I've said before, we are geeks!:laughing:)
Cinda -- we are right there with you! We will NOT bring our laptop (at least that is what I say now -- did I mention there are THREE laptops in this house and TWO desktops...... We will most likley have Sabrina's DS, Kai's Leapster and both of our ipods. Not sure yet about the DVD player. ;) I can totally see Kai wanting to stay in the cabin and watch movies all day! :scared1:
My DH, Chris is from England and he's the same way. I'm quite pale as well so it works out. It took me a few years of telling him about the virtures of sunblock before he really understood that red is not good.
LOL -- Kim, that is too too funny! Yoni learned the hard way on our last cruise and even commented in Vegas that he will wear a TON of cover up on the cruise this time!!!!
OK, I'm turning into my mom :). Our exercise room is also my "bargain room" :). If I find a deal that is just TOO good to pass up on (it's that frugal Accountant in me!), I pick it up and put it with my stash. Anyway, while looking for some Easter basket fillers for my niece, I came upon an infant boy and infant girl (0 - 9 months) pirate costumes that I picked up at Target after Halloween when they were 90% off (and obviously forgot about). Here's a link to the boys one that someone has listed on e-bay: http://cgi.ebay.com/NWT-INFANT-BABY...hash=item200272091947&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116 . I can't find the girls one. but it is made by the same company and very similar, except that it is a dress :). I would love to be able to give these to some DISer on our cruise. If anyone is interested, just let me know :)! ~ Kathy
UPDATE : Infant girl costume has been spoken for. Anyone need an infant boy pirate costume?????
Wow, I think I was off boards for two days and it's taken me quite a while to catch up. Hopefully I'll remember everything that I wanted to comment on.
GREAT TIPS!!! Woo hoo!! Makes me excited. I especially like the Movie # cause I want to know what's playing. My Hubby is hoping the new Disney Earth animal movie is playing on the cruise.
Also, How dressed up is everyone going for the Pirate night? My hubby is going to wear a skull & cross bones tshirt and a black bandana. haha I'm still putting together my outfit. Not sure how big to go....
We're with you I'd love to see the earth movie on the big screen.
We'll be wearing some piraty t-shirts and some bandanas, but we won't be going all out.
Great tips! You and I must of had the same thoughts because I spent some of this weekend going through tips as well :rotfl:. There weren't many that I didnt' have, but I'll also add:
After the muster drill, go right back to your stateroom, drop off your lifejackets and head right up to deck 9 - Goofy pool area (the one in between the smokestacks). Chances are your kids can get a spot right up front at the railing to the stage if you do this. Even if you aren't right up front - don't worry - you won't miss a thing!
Print your family's address on sticky labels for the "return home" luggage tags...rather than writing your name and address etc 6-7 times, just peel a label off and paste....
And this one I use for ALL my cruises -- pack OTC medicines with you including bandaids and first-aid cream. I take headache, allegry, stomach and all kids medicines with me. The children's medicines are really important for you to bring because most of the time they won't have what you want and in the correct dosages. I haven't had to use a lot of what I brought with me but they don't take up a lot of room, are light-weight and I feel much better knowing that I have what I need.
Remember to bring aloe vera or sunburn relief stuff. That Caribbean sun is HOT! Almost every cruise I've taken I've managed to miss like one spot with the sunscreen and wind up getting burned. It's just a little bit, but the aloe vera is wonderful to have.
I've added your tips to my list. I always carry a lot of "possible" meds. I guess if anyone gets sick they should come see one of us...
Both of us burn really easily so we are constantly slathering up with sunscreen (or hiding under the shade). I am NOT going to be the lobster on this trip.
Will post more later today to catch up from this weekend! Whew! You guys were busy! I'll show you what I was doing...unfortunately, not cruise related. But it was still fun! http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2008359&id=1122226710&l=ee475cfec1
We did two mystery dinners a long time ago. It was a blast, but I couldn't get anyone interested in doing them now (much as I'd love to).
Ok....I'm back. I will try my best to catch up since I've been off the boards for a little while.
Good to see you back on the boards. We're thinking about you and hoping things go well with your mother.
1) After the safety drill, put your life jackets & empty suite cases under the bed to make more closet space. If they don't fit when sliding, lift the edge of the bed and they will!
2) Keep in mind that MID SHIP tends to have the most elevator traffic.
3) When you go to spa write "NOT INTERESTED IN PARODUCTS" on your form or you'll end up with a sales pitch & extra $300 bill in product by the time you walk out.
4) I read somewhere that you get $30 off any service over $100 in the spa booked don the ship day 1. Let's hope this one works!
5) pack kids clothes in sets inside zip lock bags. In the morning, the kids can grab and bag & they should have everything they need.
I'll try to remember more...
Love these!
