Thank you! I will definitely check into that. I had not really checked anything other than car rentals so far and the prices for that are crazy right now. We could always take the bus and then rent a car in Seattle if that is cheaper. When you go by bus is there a limit to the amount of luggage you are allowed. We will probably have 1 or 2 checked bags and 3 carry ons. Also do you know where we would be able to get the bus in relation to the cruise terminal in Vancouver?

Glad I could be of some help. It is ridiculous the cost of traveling between Canada and the U.S. We're fortunate enough to live close to the border, so most times when we fly to the U.S. we do so from a U.S. city. Flying from Canada it's considered International and costs us twice as much. Even with taking a ferry and staying overnight in a hotel before leaving it is much less than flying out of our own city airport.

Steve noticed last night that there will be a solar eclipse on 5/20, the day we're in Vancouver. It starts at about 5:15 and peaks at about 6:30. It will be about 80%. Its an annular eclipse meaning the moon is the furthest away that it could possibly be.

I keep contemplating bringing some of my pirate gear for pirate night, but I think we're just going to go with pirate-themed t-shirts. I'll probably bring along some of my pirate rings and necklaces, though. And perhaps my own bandana. My formal wear will take up plenty of space, so I don't think we'll have the room for much else. Pirates are really my thing, though, so it's kind of a bummer not to be able to bring the coat, hat, etc. But, it'll be fun, anyway.

When we did this cruise last year, you could not see the pirate clothing for the layers of clothing we were all bundle under on deck. It was colder just north of San Francisco than it was in Alaska. I was so cold, I gave a deck blanket to one of the young officers who was guarding the access to the fireworks to keep him from frezeeing in his whites on deck.

Hi everyone, I posted right after we booked this cruise but then things got very busy and I haven't posted since. I will try to get on here more often. I can't believe it is now less than 2 months until we cruise We are really looking forward to this cruise!

We are spending 2 days in Seattle after the cruise and flying home from there. Can anyone tell me the best way to get from Vancouver to Seattle. We were going to rent a car and drive but car rental rates are very high. Is there a less expensive way to do this in case those rates don't come down at all?

You may want to consider taking the train down too. You can take the Skytrain from the port right to the train station, then Amtrak to downtown Seattle.

I'm staying at DLR for 3 nights prior to our cruise and looking for the best way to get to the Port as well. So far I've found out that DCL transportation can do it for $35 per person one way but they don't pick up from the DLR until noon and I want to leave earlier than that. Now I'm researching shuttles. I'm traveling solo so I don't want to rent a car for just myself. Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm sure there are others visiting Disneyland prior to the cruise.

I live in Burbank here in the Southern Cal area. We are going to the port using Primetime shuttle (the red vans). Last year there was enough interest to get a small bus to go from the Grand Californian to the port. If you look on last year's thread, they had the details.

Any of the guys interested in holding a Lost Beer Boys event on one of the sea days in the pub? Alot easier then a Champagne Girls event, we just show up in the pub, have a beer together, and talk.

Look forward to meeting everyone and watching the boys reaction when they figure out it is another cruise.

For those looking at the train or Greyhound to Seattle, they leave from the same station so they are equally easy to get to.

Is it too early to start packing?

Problem with the train (which is what we wanted to do) is that there are only 2 departures to Seattle, one extremely early in the morning and another very late in the afternoon/evening. So, we're taking the Amtrak bus mid-day. Hoping an Amtrak bus might be marginally nicer than a Greyhound.

I'm planning on doing the Viavor (?) hop on hop off bus. It's map says it stops near the port and the "Walt Disney Museum" is one of the official stops. And then you can see the rest of the city too.

I think you mean Viator. I was looking at that as well. The DCL excursion to the WDFM is $75. The hop on hop off is $27.99 and the museum ticket is $20. Here's hoping the hop on/off is as easy as it looks!

Is there anyone here that has been to San Francisco or lives there and have an opinion on which Hop On Hop Off Open Air Bus Tour is better. I have found 2 which look relatively similar but was wondering if one was better than the other. One is the Big Bus Tour (the red buses) and the other is San Francisco Hop-On Hop-Off Tour (the blue buses).

Just wanted to post another option for transportation in San Francisco. I have never used the HOHO bus so I can not tell you how they are.

We always buy a muni pass. Here is some info about it:

We like it because we can use it for the different types of transportation around the city. It does involve mapping out where you want to go but it's relatively easy to get around. Plus we get to ride the cable cars

I wanted to see if there was an interest in a Dis Meet on Saturday the 12th. It would be in the evening. I do not know the number of people staying at the DLR vs the port. Maybe we can have one at both if there is enough interest.

When I saw an eclipse in Cornwall UK they gave out loads of special glasses to watch it with - do you reckon Disney will do the same thing?
