I'm finally getting into planning mode:yay:
Any ideas on the best places to exchange dollars for euros?

Pick an ATM machine in one of the first ports, and get Euros there. It saves you having to carry (or in my case, lose) cash before actually needing it. Rates aren't much different than bank rates and are way than from Cambios / Exchange houses,

It takes the mental load off of you having to plan to get cash also.

27days for us!

28 FOR US! YIPPEE

And, I have to go to Anaheim May 4-6, so I'll have to visit DL while I'm there. Short little business trip. Business is May 4 at 4:30 p.m. Play time is 5:30 Friday night til 8 pm Sunday night when I fly home (talking DD Jamie too and maybe one of her friends)

Traveling with kids

I've dragged kids all over Europe and now Asia, even had a two year old climb the Great Wall of China! VERY STEEP! I think your kids will do great. Even if you do do a tour, they usually stop often enough that the kids don't get bored, just pack treats! Have the kids look for things...we had them looking for nekkid bums in the Louvre. Crass, I know, but very funny to a 5 year old. If you make it a treasure hunt, they pay attention better.

Not trying to sound like a know-it-all, but I sensed some parents were a little nervous. I'm sure many of you have more experience than I do and could help me a little, too.:)

While back-packing through Europe as a 20 year old:hippie: , I found that I had no problem with language. The Europeans are very good with English, most of them, anyway. As long as you are cheerful:) , they are usually very helpful, so if you choose to do the cities on your own, you'll be fine, I'm sure.:thumbsup2 (Hey, I did it ALONE at 20!)

I think I'm booking excursions, cuz I don't want to waste time. I find it usually takes a bit of time for me to get my bearings in a new city. I AM going to go get a guide of Spain today, though, so that I know for sure I'm making a good decision. If I COULD do it on my own and save money, that would be great.

Does anyone have any guesses as to why lunch in Seville is 90 minutes??? Could it be associated with a selling situations? Some tours I have been on feed you and then lead you to a jade factory or a pearl market...where there is "conveniently" shopping.:sad2:

See post #4216, page 282 for information and the official list of questions. The basic idea is that if you would like to participate, you should PM me with answers to the questions.

I am currently matching people up, so this is a great time to sign up if you've been thinking about it!!!

I'll send out emails with the matches in the next day or so (and post to let everyone know I have done so). I will try to match up anyone else that signs up later on, but since I won't have as large a pool, I may not be able to do a close match like I can now with more participants to work with.

Scott - I may be completely out of it, but what PT test are you having on the 31st - does this also interfere with your eating and all the buffets?

If you exchange more than 500.00 American AAA does it for free!! They take about 2 weeks to deliver it. I have to order mine soon. If less than 500 the fee is 7.50. Same as Commerce Bank and some others around here charge.

Were you very heavy once, then? My husband is very heavy and has thought of it. Although lately, he has cut out all fast food and is making a lot of progress. That was his downfall when he was stressed--very stressful work environment.

I got this today from one of the people I am traveling with:

What's New: An Online Update for Frommer's Spain
By Darwin Porter & Danforth Prince
March 1, 2007
The government of Spain has issued new anti-smoking reforms to prevent people from smoking in both public and private work areas, including sports centers, restaurants, and bars. Until now, Spain has been one of Europe's most "permissive" countries in allowing smokers to light up. Bars, restaurants, and night clubs have to create sealed-off smoking areas or else "ban the butt" altogether. The government announced that 30% of its citizens smoke, and the habit is the biggest cause of death by cancer in the country.

Hey Scott, Jonathan is working in Pasadena on 4/30 too, do you have time for an early dinner (he finishes at 2:30.)

Linda, we'll try to get over to meet you guys for a couple of hours on Sunday morning 5/6, will PM phone number.

Yep I was a 300 pound hyperactive fit fat person, now I am about 200 and want to get to 180-185 for the DL 1/2 marathon. The surgery is not a silver bullit, I knew how I should have been eating, now I have a tool to help. Being fit before the surgery was a great benifit made recovery a whole lot easier.

I am trying to remember if anyone here knew me before, I know Peter of Peter and Jenn of hygene99 did.

The scarry part was the shrink exam before:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: that scarred me more than the 1 in 100 chance of not making it through teh surgery. I thought for sure they would have found out I was nutz:rolleyes1

ANy questions just ask.....
