Ken, where can you purchase wine in Downtown Disney? I was wondering how I would go about purchasing wine for Scott and Lynn's wine and cheese party. Since I don't arrive until 3:30pm and am doing ME to my resort, I probably won't have my checked luggage until after the party. But if I can pick up something at Downtown Disney, that would work for me.

There is a shop at the Boardwalk that have Fairy Tale and a few bottles are usually in thier refrigerator section. Alex

Ken, if I put up the magnets I bought from cafe-press will I need to worry about someone taking them. We leave things in our stroller at the Park all the time and have never had anything taken. So I was wondering if you have ever put your magnets on your door and had any problems?[/quote]

Our door is usually filled with magnets of various shapes and sizes. On the B2B Southern Carribean cruises last Sept, you almost couldn't see the door for the magnets. We occacionally do loose magnets and the magnets get moved aroud alot (we think teenager). Any magnets we value we put near the top of the door. Alex

I was surprised that several people thought this idea had merit. If it is going to happen we need to quickly make up a list of participants and supporters.

Currently there are ~80 staterooms.

This would be 14 issues of say 100 copies or 1,400 pages.

The budget for this would be (taxes includes)

$74.00 Printer after ($20 rebate I hate rebates)
$20.00 3 reams of pastel paper
($46 spare toner cartridge) If funds permit. The starter toner that comes with the printer says 1,500 sheets at 5% coverage. I'd recommend the spare just to be on the safe side and if we give the printer to the crew after it would be nice if it wasn't empty.

$94 - $140

What we need to get started is :

a) supporters to fund the project (if we can get 14 at $10 each we are on fire)
b) editors to commit the time to produce and print the paper
c) Paper boys and girls that will get up early enough to deliver the papers
d) Content to give the paper a purpose
e) one or more laptops (I expect we will be bringing one to load our photos on)
f) USB flash drives to move files between laptops

The big question is will it be useful or a burden? I can see announcements for exercise groups, card and board games, Bingo, pool parties, kids get together etc... Will this be enough to fill a page and be of use to everyone? I'd hate to get going on this and be back to "Who's dumb idea was this again?". So stop us now before we get going if you don't think it's going to work.

Content ideas are welcome...

I was looking at the doing the chocolate museum on my own since it is sold out through Disney. Does anybody else think this sounds fun? I e-mailed the museum for information because the website said you needed to make reservations in advance to do any of the activities. What time is everyone going to the magic Fountain?
We were looking at doing the museum on our own also. As for the fountain, not sure if we will do that Friday or Sat night since we are there Saturday night we might just do it then, all depends on what we get to see on Friday and what we have left to see on Saturday.

Cheers!!

Pat

On the Mexican Riviera cruise, someone did a navigator that was handed out at the pre-sail away meet. This included the planned activities and room numbers for everyone. Isn't someone already doing that for this trip? Then the message boards could cover the changes and announcements.

Have you heard that the DCL terminal is under lockdown? if you were in boarding cat 1-3 you are on the ship. If not they have been bused over to the Carnival terminal. What a way to spend your 1st day!

That happened to us on our first cruise! We got to the port around 11:30 and everyone had to stay in the parking lot until 2pm. There was a bomb scare on the ship. (someone had left a backpack on the ship)

I remember that guards were telling people they might as well leave and come back as the ship wouldn't board until 4pm. So a ton of people left to get food and other things. Then like 15 minutes later, they started letting people on the ship! I felt bad for those people who left.

I think Alex covered it. We have never lost anything, but it's a ship full of people - and people do silly things sometimes. So there is always a possibility that something on your door will walk away.

When you put it that way, it sounds like too much trouble for you. I think the regular navigator and the message boards should be enough. I don't want you to spend precious vacation time working on a newsletter.

If everyone else feels strongly about it, I say go ahead. We can help with the expenses. BUT don't let it take too much of your time! This trip is goig to be so BUSY! :dance3:

KEWL job you guys on the Fish Extenders… I wonder if that is a in Wakapedia(sp?) yet. Debbie you should get all the credit for those thingies.

:rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: I just sit back and watch all of the posts about fish extenders (this thread and many others!) and say... what did I start!!!

I saw them at the store a few days before the Panama Canal cruise, bought them all out - boy I remember driving to all of the surrounding stores to get them--- and gave them out as gifts. It is just amazing to me how they took off!

I should register the name fishe extender :) I could pay for many cruises.;)

Hmmmm hafta think about that Wikipedia entry :rolleyes1

What a weather week this has been!!

The past week or so it has been in the 60's and 70's even 80 degrees this past Tuesday!

Come Wednesday afternoon the temperature dropped to the 30's. Yesterday we had Lake Effect kick up and 3 inches of snow yesterday. They finally cancelled opening day of the Indians.

This morning..... I wake up to 8 inches of heavy lake effect snow! :scared1: We had actually put away the snow blower. Wrong move. Literally dug it out and cleared the diveway. They again had to cancel both baseball games today, double header tomorrow.... maybe.... Lake Effect warning tomorrow too. Snow is still falling here.

How many more days till we leave!

Debbie

It was 22 here last night and is supposed to be the same tonight! This is in Atlanta in April.:confused3

I feel your pain, just took this picture, this morning we had nothing now look at it!!:scared1:

When is the pain going to end!!!:confused3 :confused3

Cheers!!

Goodmorning all and welcome Greg and his secret family... do give them time enough to prepare. The preparation is what is killing everyone with how much there is to plan.

roserae Ours is May 22nd. 15th wedding anniversary

This is right for us! Thanks! Just wanted to add that my other half is aka OCDisney. He's posted a few times, but mostly lets me ask the questions. I told him he'd fit right in with all the planners on this ship, and he said, "Oh, I don't think so, some of them (you guys! ;) ) are much worse than I am." Personally, I don't think so! Ha! But this is good for me. I'm much more of a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants kinda gal, which I am more able to do because he is such a great planner.

Of the two of us, he's a bigger Disney fanatic than I...both of us are pretty bad, however.

Speaking of posting questions for him. We love to play spades and would love to get with another couple to play sometime on board. Anyone interested?

Still trying to stay caught up. Being snow-bound must help with posting, huh?

Permission to take kids out of state/country: A few years back, we were traveling with friends and one's son. Well, I was able to board the plane, but the friends were frantically trying to reach a consular office and a fax machine to get the ex's permission (different last names). I thought I'd have to go on vacation by myself! ;) Best to be safe than sorry!

DIS navigator: Wow, we're not planning on coming up with DIS events on the spur-of-the-moment, are we? I like the first-day issue then using message boards plan myself.

Transport to the Port: I am planning on leaving my car (I'm in Florida) at the airport and using Disney transportation to the Port. Anyone else doing that? Anyone know the details? And, no I won't obsess over not knowing - they make pills for that now! :goodvibes

Personally, I think it is alot of work. A few years ago I ran a convention and every night we had a newsletter (got the idea from the daily navigators on DCL actually  ). It was alot of work and alot of coordination.

Linda-Seaulater -does a nice mini-navigator and hands them out on the first day. And we have the message board rooms that can have any updates.

There is so much going on that there is not enough time to read the DCL navigators sometimes:rotfl2: We really look back on the 14 night PC cruise and don't remember any down time!

I think it is a nice gesture, but may be a lot of work in the end :)

I agree with you. Everyone is going to be so busy having a great time and having fun that I think it is a lot to ask. I think I said something about it earlier??? Don't remember. Appreciate the thought and know it took a lot of time Kissimmee. Also, I know all of you are complaining about snow, and HopeMax would know this, but we are going in the pool today. The pool is 89 and the weather is close to it too. Anyone up for a BBQ? Come visit.
