One of the trees the tornado uprooted ripped out a gas line on its way out of the ground, so the news reporter says you can hear the gas hissing from it and authorities have evacuated the neighboring areas. :scared:

I am one that was scared away by all the chatter. I found cruise plans lost in a sea of what seemed like long established personal relationships that I don't feel right intruding on. You all seem like really nice people but I just don't have the time to chatter like that. No offense to anyone.

I check the boards every couple days but do not have the time for pages and pages of chatter so I move on. Though I keep hoping that you will come back to cruise plans and information and I will join in again.

I send :grouphug: to all of you that are going through some pretty heavy stuff right now and you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Are we making cruise and excursion plans on the Ship of thieves pages? I am so far behind in all aspects that I am not checking it either. Should we repost how to communicate there and get some planning chatter going on there?

Just issued a 4th tornado warning for my county. Hmmm.....Did I move to Oklahoma without realizing it? Unbelievable. But I'm just glad only one has touched down so far, at least that I know of.

WOW....we are in the midst of quite the wind storm...waiting for the power to go out so I can go home! Tree limbs are falling everywhere and the gusts are crazy. Luckily we still have power at home and Scott is on his way there now to fill up bathtubs in case we do lose power....in the new house when we lose power we lose water :sad1: because it is on a well.

Angie...is it windy in Oregon too?

Yes, but not as bad as it was a little farther up your way. We too are on a well. We have gone and spent a couple of days at the Shilo Inn before when the power is out for any period of time. We have a woodstove so we can heat if we need to, but it is not easy to live without water.

There's the siren going off again. It's SO LOUD!

OK....I'll stop the play-by-play. Sorry! It's just really crazy and a bit scary.

Nope. Of the 3 tornados so far, 2 stayed up in the air, but the news just reported that one did touch down in the area my co-worker lives in. Only F1, but still lots of damage. They said another on the way looks to be F2 strength, but it's about 45 minutes away. Maybe closer than I think because I hear the tornado sirens in the distance...not in my county, but not too far away if I can hear them. I'm SO tired, but really don't think I'd sleep well knowing this stuff is still supposed to keep coming. The weather guy just said in his 21 years of reporting weather, he's never seen an evening like this. Oh....he just now said he expects the activity to continue until 6am.

It's Thursday so Tyler is with his dad right? I don't know if that's good or bad.

How are you supposed to sleep tonight if it's going to continue until 6am???? I know I would be up all night.....but you have such a full day tomorrow!!! But how could you sleep through this? Holly, I really feel for you tonight. I'm not sure what I would do in your shoes? I wish I lived closer and could help out, although I don't know what I would do? How do you prepare for a tornado.....basement? Do you have one? What if you don't? It's very scary!!!

Holly - what did you guys decide about Tyler's appointments? Did I miss your post?
Oh, I'm keeping the appointments. His EEG was this morning. The appointment on Tuesday is for his dad and stepmom and I, then the following Tuesday is just for Tyler to do his whole day of testing. We have to pay $1700 up front, I have the money on its way, and all I need now is for his dad to decide whether he's coming to the parents' appointment or if he chooses not to, he'll have to sign a consent to let me start treatment.

He and Tyler's stepmom just don't agree with spending the money now when we'll have to pay the deductible all over again at the beginning of the year, BUT I haven't had a chance to ask him to call his insurance company and ask about what others here have mentioned - about counting that deductible towards next year's since its near the end of the year and would be for treatment of the same condition. Either way, I told him I have the money, so it shouldn't matter whether he thinks it's a smart thing to do. All he has to do is show up. Very simple! :thumbsup2

Tyler is with his dad tonight, so that's a good thing because he has a basement and I don't. Without a basement, the recommended thing to do is go in a room with no windows. I have a small closet in the center of the house, next to my bathroom, and that's where I'd go if the tornado did come through.

Oh my gosh! I'm sure my co-worker won't be at work tomorrow. The news reporter just said her city is a complete blackout because of the tornado that went through there and most of the roads there are closed because of all the trees uprooted and lying across them. They just announced that their schools will be closed tomorrow, obviously. I hope she's OK! She and her husband are all packed and ready to leave Saturday for their cruise on Sunday. I'll definitely be calling her tomorrow morning.

Holly, stay safe tonight! My grandparents lived in West Texas and I know that my grandma would go sleep in the cellar on nights like this. They had a bed down there that was quite comfy. Wish you had a cellar to go to. :grouphug:

That's a great idea! Wish I could. Our most recent tornado warning expires in 20 minutes. I don't see anything else coming on the radar picture, so I think I'm going to head to bed. I think the weather guy just meant that storms could be coming until 6am, not necessarily tornados.

Thank Goodness Tyler has a basement to go in and at least you have your closet. But how do you stay awake all night watching the warnings? Can you sleep in your closet?

How devistating for your co-worker and leaving on Sat when the neighborhood is in such a state. I hope she's ok too. Definitely call her in the morning and let us know how she made out.

You try to post on here early am so we know you made it thru the night. I'll be thinking of you in my dreams. I want to know that you're ok too.

It's so scary!

Well that's a relief. I didn't know what you were going to do if they kept coming! EEK!

This is such positive news.....good for you and Tyler! How did he do on his EEG this morning? Was it hard for him to stay awake so long?

Poor little guy....he's only 5.

Thanks Deb! Fall in Michigan is just wonderful. Will post in the morning if we don't lose power. OK....weather guy says the biggest storm system is what's going on right now and once that passes, no more worries. He says there's another group of storms coming, but those aren't anything dangerous like he originally thought. Sounds like I can go to bed!

Can a new thread be started for those interested in planning chatter. There are so many personal chatter posts, that it's impossible to sift through and find any planning posts in this thread, as pages and pages are added daily.

Just a thought.

His dad managed to keep him up as long as possible, then struggled to wake him up at 4am like the doc said to, but he said Tyler was pretty good natured about it for having very little sleep. I think he said he slept about 4 hours. The technician doing the EEG said they got a successful reading, meaning his dad did a good job of making sure he was sufficiently sleep deprived. Then when they got to the point where the needed him to fall asleep and test his brain patterns while sleeping, his dad told me that was a struggle because he was overtired and just couldn't fall asleep and was REALLY cranky (understandable), so they asked dad to leave the room and Tyler calmed right down and fell asleep. Now, I know he must have been completely exhausted to be able to fall asleep in a strange place with a stranger in the room.

It took a couple hours and when his dad called me after they got home, Tyler was napping. His dad's voice was really gravelly from lack of sleep and sounded like he'd been up all night. GOOD! It's good for him to see some of the hard parts of being a parent instead of just having your child come over to play.

I think Tyler's pediatrician will call me next week with the results, which I'm sure will be normal, she just wanted to narrow some things out. :thumbsup2
