My goal is to home school the girls in 2011, buy an RV and travel across the country as our curriculum. We'll see if I can really pull it off but right now that is my plan. One thing Scott and I want to do is hit all those "treasure hunter" places that they show on TLC...you know the place in Montana you can dig for sapphires and Nevada you dig for? etc. I think that looks like so much fun.

Digging for treasure is so much fun. That is the way I look at my Coke Rewards. I see a coke bottle in the trash can and I take it out take off the top and try to recycle the bottle then. I figure I am helping the environment and having fun "digging treasure" We are over 5,000 coke reward points and can already get some cool things....but we are going to save up till summer and get Daniel something for the condo...most likely a TV.

I love the idea of getting a brand new TV out of the TRASH!! (drives my girls crazy..!!)

Thanks to everyone who has been PMing me codes!! Every little bit helps!!

Lisa... poor Frank, how is he holding up through all of this?. What a struggle this has been for all of you:hug:

Since he got sick again on Monday, he has been very depressed. Tuesday was the day he was allowed to start to drive again.....we will have to put that off for a while now. He has lost his independence.

I have been spending every free minute I have at the hospital. I just can't go tonight. I have called him twice, but no answer....so that worries me. My day started at 4:30 as I had an all day meeeting in Baltimore. It started at 7:30.

I got cold stares from my mom when I got home.....I just don't understand why she has to be so mean. I know she is mad I spend time with Frank....but Don is totally tied up with Footloose this weekend (6 shows...1800 tickets sold already) and Gretchen and Annie are in the cast....Don just can't do it. So it falls on me......I don't mind at all...but it really makes my mom mad.

Oh well, I can only do the best with my resources...

Daniel is home safe and sound.....that means our cruise is getting closer. I still have not told my mom I will be gone....she will just have to get used to the idea.....

Hi Gydell.....I'm glad I'm feeling better too.....it lasted the whole week already and I'm glad it's over!!!

Isn't that shirt just the coolest! Thanks to PJ again for coming up with the graphic and making it so easy for us to make the shirts.

Marilyn and PJ.....I have shirts for both of you that I'll hold until I see you at the terminal or on board. They really are perfect!

Deb,

I get a shirt:confused: , how sweet! I can't wait, :woohoo:

Deb

Aren't they on the Ship of Thieves website?

They, EB repo navs, are hosted on my private .mac account and it has a monthly limit, which is big enough for this group's downloading, but if that particular link in on the DIS our website would be shut down part way through each month.

There are copies on the www. disney cruiser .info website.

Leanne (ozdisneyfan) - I just had to share some of my funny memories of my first few months in Australia. When I first went to Australia, I thought that the XXXX stuff was really, super-duty, bad "Adult" stuff. I thought Australia was one up on the USA "Adult" stuff because they had an extra X!!!!

And once when I went to the grocery store with my host family in Australia, I asked where the pop was. They told me later they thought I was asking about some type of drug. :confused3

But my favorite was when I filled up my car at a gas station and I asked them if they had a bathroom I could use. The guy replied, "No, we just have a toilet/loo." I was like What??? I later found out that in Queensland, most people consider a bathroom as having a shower or bathtub in it, otherwise it is just a toilet or loo. I guess the guy thought I was wanting to take a shower or something. . . :rolleyes1

Gotta love it!

Jolene

Hi Jolene,

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: And people think we speak the same language!!!!!

Also, in Australia, Queensland is considered a bit 'different' than the rest of the country - people say they think a bit differently, so what goes there is sometimes very different to everywhere else!!! Anyone from there is known as a 'banana bender' 'cos Queensland is where 80% of the countrys bananas are grown, and only a queenslander would bend something that is already bent!! That said, it is VERY beautiful!!!:)

I just watched LOST and did notice who was at the auction. btw, did you happen to notice what they were auctioning off that he bought. Check it out.

The VCR didn't work last night, I will have to give in and get a new TV and HD digital recorder someday. It is downloading on itunes as we speak, I will pay attention, then I will watch the pop-up version, all kinds of extra info, that re-plays here right before the new episode.

Thanks - I was just pulling up my file manager to try and remember where on the website I had put the files. Saved me some time! :goodvibes

Thought I would share a story for those wondering about getting stamps in your passport. (I've never gotten one on a DCL cruise. :sad2: )

Last summer DW and I took a Med Cruise with Princess. We started in Greece, visited Turkey, Israel, Egypt, and ended in Rome. When we boarded the ship, they took and kept our passports. Before arriving in Turkey, they gave them back to us already prestamped for Turkey. When we got back on the ship after Turkey, they again collected our passports. The same was done for Egypt and Rome. But Israel was a bit different.

On the sea day before we arrived in Israel, we had to go to one of the lounges. There, a crew member handed us our passport that had the Israeli immigration paperwork tucked inside. When you go to Israel, they won't normally stamp your passport because a lot of countries won't let you in if you have an Israel stamp in it. (My father has to passports for this reason - he works both in Israel and Saudi Arabia, and has to have a permanent visa for both - so they made arrangements for him to have two different passports).

We then had to meet an Israeli immigration officer (who had boarded back in Athens). He inspected our passports, asked us few questions. He stamped the insert as we talked. Once he was done, we asked if we could have a stamp in the passport too. He looked at us silently for second, his eyes watered, he responded 'Absolutely' and reached for our passports and very deliberately stamped them. He handed them back, thanked *us* and got up and walked us out of the lounge (the only time we saw someone do that - and there were 5-6 immigration officers present in the room dealing with other passengers).

See it is the people we meet that stick with us. Wonderful moment to share with us, thank you.

Yeah, we like those pop ups....we need the cheat sheets to understand what's going on in their world. You could probably watch it online too like Holly does.

I have finally decided what I want to do on May 8th. I want to go to Sea World's Aquatica!!! I have to conince DH but it is perfect. I have wanted to go here since they anounced it and it opens March 1st. My mom reminded me of it today and how much I would love it. Now off to convince DH I NEED to go there.;)

Looked it up online and it seems pretty cool!

Ok so I am working on the Scavanger Hunt tonight. I am finding out some very interesting facts. But I have never been on the Magic so DH and I will be doing the hunt before we give it out, just in case. Hopefully you will see some new things.:dance3: It is simple enough for kids but they might need an adults help on some of it.

I have read a few reviews and of coarse Disney's is better. But Aquatica has real Commersion's Dolphins! I am a huge dolphin freak. WHen I worked at WDW I had a season pass to Seawolrd and went once a week. I wanted to be a Marine Biologist when I grew up.

I just wanted to say hi and subscribe to this thread. I'm really new at posting so I'm not sure of the formalities - hopefully I'm doing this correctly. :scared1:

Marilyn....V is a chugger. She doesn't sip and she doesn't drink to taste, but she belts it down and guzzles it. I think you guessed correctly.:rotfl2: :rotfl2:
that's me!

My step-dad owns a skin care place here (he is a dermatologist) and my mom manages it. They do spray tans and they are great. The best part is they don't charge me!!! So I will be doing that before the cruise. It is a very strange feeling standing there while someone airbrushes you but it looks great and stays on for awhile too. I can't get in the sun without sunscreen (red hair, freckles, and fair skin).
sounds great - I am a red head freckled too!

Hi!

I am on some wifi I think at DISNEY~!.....so, I didn't work today, got up and came to Orlando.....I am really po'ed with WDW re our ap's (renewals) but it is what it is. We met Scottie Pippen, M Jones-Drew, Darrel Dawkins.....and of course all the ESPn commentators..................

and Mark S and I ..........

had a ................

"moment"

and he is sooo hot!

Just wanted to pop in and say "hi"...I don't check in for a week or so and then there's a new thread already:eek: things have been so busy here with bday parties, school, sports, etc... DS just started golf lessons after school yesterday and had soccer today after school. I just found out today that DD class has an evening performance for the school A+ celebration in two weeks(the school just got a double A+ ..the second A+ for their spanish immersion program) so that's at night during DS soccer and I bet they'll have my DS class too:sad2: I can't wait until the cruise. I don't know if its bad but I'm happy they'll miss all of the end of the year parties and evening programs. The cruise is over when their school year ends so when the cruise ends our summer vacation begins:woohoo: Relax, swim, and have summer fun:beach:

I was given a book today, The Panama Canal, by Bob Considine. Written for the school age child. She discovered that our library is limited in information on the panama canal, so she's going to do some research on kid friendly books.

My daughters teacher has given me the ok to use this report/power point as her may book report. So we are a go.

Maybe we should have a "school" day on the canal day? Whaddaya think? We can do the whole report on canal day up on the deck of the ship. Brainstorming with the kids, taking pictures of the locks. Writing up the presentation on paper? Not too long, but with all the kids participating, we should have the infomation for the report quickly. I'll volunteer to read up about the canal and I'm sure there are other adults who are canal buffs who'd help guide the discussion?

Discuss and post feedback.

S
We would be so interested. I've been showing DK about the panama canal. My DS is academic so he loves the way the Panama Canal works and would love that. Let me know count us in on any help you may need.:thumbsup2
All my bags are here, I'm ready to go......I got my big duffle luggage bag and my tote and 9 pack cooler bag both for excursions.

Just waiting on the new dresses now. John got his purple tux shirt to match my new gown.....no pink, purple now.

I ordered 4 pairs of capri pants.....same style different colors. I can wear them to dinner with cruise casual shirts inbetween sundresses. I already have the tops and the dresses and I have plenty of shorts and cover up dresses to go over the bathing suits. I'm set and ready to go. Two more months, just two more months. I'm so psyched! We're getting so very close now.
I can't believe it...I don't feel ready. I finally got hotel ressies for CA but haven't gotten the rental cars for FL and CA and finalize what we are doing in FL since we have only a week and have lots of friends and family to visit and still want to squeeze some vacation fun in:cool1:
We have conferences at school on March 11 and I will be talking to the teachers then. I have a first-grader and fourth-grader. If the fourth-grader's teacher wants him to do a project on the canal, we'd be interested in getting together with the group project idea.
Very interested here:thumbsup2
I wish you lived in TN, I know a couple of people who would love Girl Scout cookies. No one has tried to sell us any this year. I was very upset, I wanted cookies.:rotfl2:
I love girl scout cookies we actually usually end up with a couple dozen but not this year:sad2: My supplier (friends DD) moved to FL so I caught the tail end of the order so I ended up getting my DD friends big sister to sell me an order that backed out so it was the best ones but worked for us:cheer2:

I hope we don't get assigned at the terminal. What then? How will we mail ahead of time and get the Shirley baskets delivered and get the info on the mini navigators?
I know...I keep waiting to get a room number...I really hope its NOT at the terminal.
