maui westin timeshare help

If we go towards Aulani next year, we would also like to go to Maui and stay at the Westin in Kaanapali. We want to go 2nd or 3rd week in June. We found out we do know someone who can rent there at the 8 mnth window. Others have stated you need the 12mnth window there? Anyone familiar with Westin and could you point me to a couple of web sites to research and learn more. Thank you D

We stayed there 8 years ago when it was newly opened. It's great!...and I'm sure even better now. Don't know about the booking window, but we recently needed a place to stay in Maui and rented a 2 bedroom at the Marriott Maui Ocean Club on Kaanapali Beach (south of the Westin.) We got a good deal by renting from someone through redweek.com for the week we were looking for. You can browse the listind for free (and read reviews) but you have to pay a fee to actually make an offer. BTW, you can totally negotiate the price (providing the owner is willing!)

I've chatted with a DISser that owns there, she might know more about the booking period. Its a beautiful property but I've only stayed there on kamaaina rates, never had a full week though if you get the week feel free to PM me questions about the area and restaurants.
