Day 1 - "A Whole New World, and eventually Disney!" Note: No Pictures today. We really couldn't be bothered. See why below:

I got up at 6.00 and had some Ricicles for Breakfast. I was rather excited, hardly getting any sleep from the previous night due to my childish like excitement (Wait till Christmas.. Late to bed early to rise.. :thumbsup2 ). Father was up, and making last minute preparations. I quickly put the last bits in the bags. PJs, Blanket, Toy Rabbit.. What, Can't I have a Blanket and rabbit?? :rotfl2: It keeps my head warm... Hoping to find a nightcap eventually so I won't be quite as embarassed as I am now.. The Rabbit? Well, It's something to cuddle and I've had it since I was young. :cloud9:

Anyway, enough about that.. The rest of the family soon got up. We had planned to go by 6.30; 6.45 at the latest buy we eventually left at 7.00. I managed to get the parents to get the kids in thier car so I could be with DB22 and DBGF. We have to have one car were we can discuss things about Disney right? That and I thought it'd be funner than being in my parents car hearing them moan and groan all the way..

We set off, and despite the rainy weather we were fine. Although at a junction my dad didn't indicate to us, so we rang him and said "Are you not going to indicate at any point?" to which the reply was flicking the indicators on and off! :lmao: We were listening to various radio stations on the way. We moved from Essex FM to Radio 2 to eventually settling on Radio 1. Chris Moyles is SO annoying!! :guilty: The really annoying thing is that there were no traffic broadcasts, and I'll explain about them soon enough.

We were fine most of the way. Over the Queen Elizabeth bridge (I think that's it..) and through all the payrolls on the other side OK, although we split up since the parents couldn't wait for us to give us directions (we had our own ones, but with DBGF's Dyslexia it does get a bit complicated. We thought we missed a turn at one point..).

We were fine most of the way, until we hit traffic. Some lunatic decided to close the M25 to do roadworks! :confused3 We got caught in traffic, and in fact it was so much traffic we missed our 1st class train to Disney! Don't fret, as we phoned the company and there was another train. Only it was at 1.00. That meant that even if we did get through all the traffic in time (we did; i'll explain later) that we would have less time at Disney. Probably not enough to do our plan of MGM studios today.. :sad2:

We eventually managed to get away from the traffic (the time flew with my handy Nintendo DS and game of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon :teeth: ) and got on the side roads to see if we cut traffic. Oh no, MORE traffic later on! My B22 was getting really mad and being rather cynical. When DBGF tried comforting she got a face of "I'm unlucky" or "God hates me".. DBGF didn't appear to care; she believed that God gave us a second chance. I'm not religous, but if God did do something to help, thanks, but could you've move the traffic?? :)

After that traffic, we finally managed to get back on the road and were able to get past the next part of the journy quickly! We got to Ashford International and parked on one of the upper floors. We got out, and DS was in the Car park singing "We are going to Disneyland!!". During the mishaps, Mother had to ring up the company and talked about our Paris trip, which led DS and DB19 to ask questions and found out it in the end. Mind you, DB19 could of known about it the day before since he asked if we were lying about Brussels like we had on another trip. Also there were other times that me and DB22 almost blurted it out accidently. At one point, DBGF just stared at him and said nothing when he almost revealed the truth, which lead me to saying something stupid like "Boogle" to fill the gap (long story; it's my current real-life catchphrase.. :teeth: ).

We walked with our baggage to main reception. Mother and Father went to go and get the new tickets whilst DS was all excited about our new trip. She did say once "If we can't go, I am going to hurt them".. :rotfl2: We did get some tickets, but these went to Northen Paris, which means we had to go and get the Metro there. Whilst that was exciting to most, we not only had to beg DBGF to help us (she has some experience with this), we had another 40 minutes extra on the trip. MGM was looking like an extreme NO at this point..

We went to the gate with a mass of people, and waited a couple of minutes for the gates to open. We had some crisps since we were hungry, and were expecting to get food on the 1st class trip to Disney. They opened, and we all got in and got stuck in queues. We tried to go and be the first ones in but no that failed..

On Through to security; the part I HATE about trips. I got stopped once in America and was asked a lot of questions such as "Do you have any metal?"; "Any Video Games?!". It turned out to be the zips on my trousers, but It was so scary and ever since I am terrified of these things. So, with a deep breath I went through and... I was fine. With a HUGE sigh of relief I walked on and saw that DBGF had to be pulled over and was given the metal detector treatment.. :teeth: It was her belt that sent it off..

We continued on, and found the shops. Wasn't much, but we looked for food of any kind. We failed in that task, but we did get some magazines for me, DBGF and myself. They had things like "Hello" and "OK" where as I had a Simpsons comic.

We sat down, and I eagerly read the comic. I loved it; it was all about Superheroes in the Simpsons world (e.g. "Bartman"; "StretchDude" and "The Cupcake Kid" all in one world together!). I know that means nothing to you guys, but it was fun to read for me. :cloud9: The time flew after that, and soon we went to go to the station, and a few minutes after that we were on the train itself.

We went to go and get our seats, and WHAT? There are people on them!! I don't know whether it was them being mean, or whether there was a computer error on the train bookings but everyone was in the wrong seats! We spent most of the trip looking for new places and were constantly told that it was someone elses. We eventually got a seat; in the seats between the compartments!!

Although most of the trip into France went quick due to my handy Nintendo DS, I was getting madder and madder. All of the anger of missing our train; not having a seat (DS had the nerve to say "That's MY seat", to which my reply was "I Don't care!") and the jerkyness of the seat itself were starting to take control. And you know what that means! SULK ALERT!!

My anger disipitated when we got to France. OMG, it is SO different to ours! Everything was weird and musical! The accouncements had a small xlyophone shones on them before playing! The ticket machines had a note instead of a tone! Even the adverts to Flushed Away (Here it's called "Mouse City") had music notes on them!! Although we were being a bit protective in France (DB22 was at the back countint; DB19 had his bag in his hand to be protective. He didn't want to where it on his front as he thought he'd look weird, although we did see people in France later on in the trip with bags on their fronts).

We navigated around, and after struggling abit to figure out where we were going, we got onto a train (which was similar to a train we saw leave the platform; had we known we could of just get on that train). Might I just like to point out that the French have DOUBLE DECKER TRAINS? Why the heck didn't we think of that?! We got on one of them, and although the look of people's feet from the below carriage were abit weird it was so cool!!

We got off, and onto another train, this time headed for "Marnee de la Valee Chessy" Aka. the station outside Disney. This was not so enjoyable. The term "Tuna Can" comes to mind. We were so squished, poor DBGF had the bags between her legs! And the worst part was, even though the train was full there were still people trying to get on! Although, that is rushhour and understandable. Still, that was still hard to get along. It points in the trip, you really wanted to say "Was that My hand, your hand, His hand, Their hand...".

After a long and squished trip, we arrived all intact. We got off and we walked out the station and saw all the lights! It was like I had always remembered!! We walked to the hotel, and while uming and ahing all the way, we made it down to the hotel area. We noticed a HUGE balloon in the centre (I took a piccie on day 3). It was so cool and apparantly took people up and down all day, although not at the time we were there..

We checked into the hotel; the new york. I remember it bigger when I was there the last time.. :confused3 Oh well, why they all tried to make sense of the cashier (he didn't speak much english and didn't give us park tickets since we were late), I checked out the shop. Kinda cramped in there and had some lovely ornaments outside the shop but what was cool was the GIANT CHRISTMAS STITCH!! It cost £79 and I would of so bought it if I had the money!!

We went to the room and relaxed a little bit. 4 Double beds and connecting rooms (better than what we could of got in new port bay; we would of been all over the place, although the room was aweful; just a load of bricks and stuff on the roof!!). My feeties were so tired! Checked out the telly; nothing there except a Disney Promo in French then english and the Disney channel in english. I'm in Mother and Father's with DB19 in the other double bed. I don't really mind; as long as he didn't store or kick me in the night like he did in america when we shared I am OK.

We decided to get some dinner, although it's more like linner since we haven't had much lunch today. We went to our favorite Diner, Annettes. It had changed so much since we were there last! All nicely decorated now, although no-more fries in baskets or roller skates. we sat down, and I ordered a "FrankNBeans". It's a frankfurter covered in baked beans and melted cheese. So good!! :goodvibes

We decided on a walk, so we headed past our hotel and looked at the hotel Santa Fe and the hotel Cheyanne. The hotel Cheyanne looks so cool; an entire western town!! but the hotel Sante fe looks like a Mexican Motel.. Oh well, we still had fun on the walk. At one point me, DB19 and DBGF skipped a la "Wizard of Oz" and sung Supercalifagil.. (you know the rest.. :teeth: ).

We came home, and I went to the hotel room. DB22, DB19, DBGF and Mother and Father went to the bar, whilst me and DS stayed in the room. We were both watching Disney Channel, but I was suppose to be making an itinerary for tommorrow. It didn't happen; I just used our research notes to make a list of character meeting times and shows. :rotfl: Thank you Disney channel movie about a weather machine!! :)

They came back soon after, and we all got into PJs and went to bed. It was a nice bed, although Dad's Drinking is not a good idea to sleep with; he just Snores more!! I silenced him by breathing loudly and putting the pillow over my head. :rotfl2: With today's experience, you now know why we didn't take pictures.

Next time, Our heroes finally make it to the Park itself. Will their bad luck today make tommorrow all worth while, or will they find that the worst is yet to come? Tune into next time's adventure entitled "As Blind as a Matt".

Thanks for sharing your trip report with us, Matt, I loved reading it. Sorry to hear about your nightmare-ish journey, glad you got there eventually. We like Annettes too, but wish they still had the rollerskates.
